They would be better to apply for the OA visa in the UK as I’m pretty sure you can’t get the initial OA within Thailand. My husband and I have just obtained our second OA visa from the London Embassy.

I think the key to these E applications is to look at what they ask you to send and do exactly that. Once you’ve submitted the application they then highlight in red what they want you to send by post. We just did exactly that. On occasion they’ve asked some applicants to send more documentation but they will specify what they want.

Thanks Sue, Am I correct that once you complete the Thaevisa you print it off, and send it to London and I dont have to make a trip down to visit the embassy in person? How long did the police certificate take? im living with my parents at the moment and would like to get back to Thailand asap
We completed the ACRO police check on line and it arrived by post about two weeks later. We got an email saying they’d received the application and then another saying they’d posted it. You can pay more for a 3-5 day turn around but we weren’t in a rush. Our doctor charged £25 for the report and we didn’t even go and see him!!
As all your application is on line you don’t print it off at all and send it.
We only had to sent 4 things down
1) barcode from the application
2) passport
3) £10 note for return postage
4) Return Address
We posted these four things on Tuesday, recorded post, and received our passports with the visa in on Friday! It was brilliant service.
If you’ve got any queries just ask as it’s not difficult but you have to be methodical and do it a specific way. Hope it goes well. Sue

When the application is completed they highlight in red what you need to send down if you’re using the postal method. For both my husband and I it was just the four things
1) barcode
2) passport
3) £10 note
4) return address.
We sent these four things on Tuesday and received our passports back with our OA Visa on Friday. A really excellent service from the Embassy.

We’ve just received our OA Visas yesterday from London. We went to the bank and got them to print out a statement showing the £ equivalent to the 800,000 baht and then the bank stamped it with their branch stamp and signed it. It was accepted by the Thai Embassy for both mine and my husbands application. Initially the bank said they didn’t do this but then one cashier said of course they did and went and got the stamp and it was all done in a minute. BTW we posted our Passport, the barcode and the £10 on Tuesday and both passports with the visa arrived on Friday - excellent service. Hope your application goes well. Sue

No 7 about proof of residence is another copy of your passport. We checked with the Embassy for that one. Just be aware that one of the copies of the Passport is in JPEG form and another one is PDF!!
For question 5 we just put in the address where we will be staying.

We flew Heathrow to Bangkok at the end of September and they didn’t look at the Visa page at all, only the page with the photograph on. We always fly BA to Thailand and they’ve never checked our Visa status.

We have always had our METV's from the Liverpool Thai consulate and Sue there is an absolute mine of information. If you ring to make an appointment she can usually answer any queries over the phone to save you a wasted journey. You leave all your paperwork and go back about an hour later and hey - Visa ready.
We have unusual paperwork in that our income is from property so not actually classed as earned income but investment income and Sue sees the whole picture and makes sensible decisions.
If you have to contact the London Embassy it's just not worth trying in a morning. We've waited hours on hold and given up eventually! However this afternoon we got through in about 5 mins.
Hope it works out well. Let us known.

Good job Khon Kaen Immigration

We’re in Khon Kaen and have only had excellent experiences with them there. The staff are always helpful and polite. If there are any queries they do try to help you sort them out. Glad you got your extension.
