Entirely my reason for not moving to the States back in the Eighties. As an enthusiast season worker in a five-star hotel in Davos, Switzerland, I was offered a huge opportunity in Colorado - too far from M16 ORA !!

Yet another prime indication of how television is now the new Flicks. In recent years the onslaught of TV over Movies has escalated in positive artisan forward march. Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones kicked off the fad, Netflix took it to a new level, BBC delivered Dr. Who and Peaky Blinders - Les Mis was brilliant. But TV drama is brilliant !!

The shrub would be used to cover a permanent fixture and the usage of the word cover is the objective here. So floral fragrance is what I mainly hope to achieve. I love the idea of Jasmin. - are the varieties of the shrub in Thailand fragrant, as like on the Mediterranean basin, for example..?

Jasmin!! Now that’s music to my ears????????

Hi Guys,
I’m looking for advice and tips of fencing off a property in the south of Thailand. Ideally something with floral features and easy to maintain. A similar effect that Oeleander would offer a property in Europe. Thanks in advance!!

Interesting. My perception is that none of the methods commonly used is either certain or painless. Only wish Big Pharma would come up with a Happy Pill which could be prescribed for anyone wishing to end their suffering humanely and with the minimum of mess for anyone else to have to clear up.
Let’s not deflect away from this very depressing and sadly reoccurring incident but, humanly exits have been practiced:
A suicide bag, also known as an exit bag, is a device consisting of a large plastic bag with a drawcord used to commit suicide. It is usually used in conjunction with an inert gas like helium or nitrogen, which prevents the panic, sense of suffocation and struggling during unconsciousness (the hypercapnic alarm response) usually caused by the deprivation of oxygen in the presence of carbon dioxide. This method also makes the direct cause of death difficult to trace if the bag and gas canister are removed before the death is reported. Right-to-die groups recommend this form of suicide as certain, fast, and painless, according to a 2007 study.

I DO know the paradise places in Thailand and Asia and Europe's as well); just went to Bali for a whole month....
BALI a paradise? NO, Bali is paradise lost with the most polluted streets, ditches and villages I've ever seen in my life and getting worse every day. There's totally no respect for the environment by the Balinese and Indonesians.
The streets are totally blocked by traffic and that was in December when there were hundreds of thousands of tourists less than normal due to the Gunung Agung "eruption" problems.
It was tragic to see the hundreds of shops...all empty and no buyers; restaurants empty, except the more expensive ones.
One day we drove 110kms on one day and spent more than 6 (!) hours in the car, due to traffic problems.
Bali is a nightmare....Thailand is still way better off.
My point entirely !!

It was paradise in the end '70's and I know since I was there when it was still a paradise...and even then it was not so easy to go and travel to Thailand since it was expensive and long traveling hours.
It was "us" telling enthusiastic about LOS and recommend it to our friends and family next to the increasing wealth and possibilities to fly and come to Thailand and further to the increasing income of Asians, making it possible for them to travel abroad also.
Buckle up because it's only the beginning of another tsunami of Asian tourists; after all, it's THEIR back yard, not ours.
For us unsuspecting Euro-farangs these locations are still classified as Paradise. Our beauty havens are all long gone. Monaco and the French Riviera, Interlaken and the Bernese Oberland, the Cities of Barcelona, London, Paris are all completely overrun and no-go zones. Its not just about Asian tourist, and your day of mass tourism will definitely come. But in the meantime enjoy your paradises - Winter is coming!!

Best way to kill a paradise? Make it easy to get to, and to get around.
Hahaha I actually agree with you there Impulse. I quite like it the way it is!!

Well, maybe with all this newfound wealth from the hordes of Chinese tourist the authorities could address the road network situation on Koh Lippe. At least one road would be nice. Not asking too much is it!

If you do a search and read any of the wine threads you should be aware that the relatively high prices are (mainly) a function of the customs and import duties which I am sure the "merchant" blamed in his reply.
If his reply is interesting why not post it or parts of it?
Spot on topt! The merchant blamed the system and the reply was an interesting one. Enjoy!!
”
The office has forwarded your message to me as I am based in Singapore and look after our customers in South East Asia.
I contacted our Thai importer who notes that he does not have distribution in the area around Hatyai which, being close to the border, is full of smuggled wine so it is difficult to say from which market this product may have come.
Thailand imposes the highest tax on imported wine in the world and my importer explains the maths:
Vionta Albarino cost is 5 Euros ex works; the total import duties of 420 % bring the landed cost to 26 Euros; the standard wholesale price for this wine is therefore $30 and retail price is around US$37/bottle.
If you were able to purchase at $30 it seems likely that the wine originated in another market. I understand that this price seems exorbitant to you but we cannot control taxation.

My reply was about the lack of "indigenous wine production" or similar. Most of the wine base for the above named "fruit wines" do not come from grapes grown in Thailand.
I would actually be interested to know what kind of grape varieties do they cultivate in Thailand. Surely the vine harvests more than once a year in the tropical climate of South East Asian. Traditional European varieties need the winter dormancy to bear fruit!!

Hi Guys. Admittedly we are not presently residing in Thailand, but when we do in a couple of years time, we want a retreat in the Kingdom. No renting, no Condo, no Walking Street - a humble abode. We would be grateful for any advise on construction companies in the south. We have land and (hopefully!!) good connections in the local building department.
Many thanks in advance!!
