I will answer in just one post what I have read other op wrote about my contribution to this forum.
Somebody told me I must learn english. Yes, is my second language. BTW I have written I was carrying usd 700 and english speakers with reading comprehension issues couldn´t get is more than 20k baht. After that I think my english is more than enough.
Yes, I´m native of "one of those South American countries". At least parliament still works on one of those countries....
We are having other kind of issues right now.
Immigration officer told me that Korea will not let me stay unlimited, and I replied to him that if a Thai national would like to stay more than two years in my country, could make it without harassment.
If a thai citizen wants to go to civilized Europe what would happen with it´s visa? Easy to understand the reciprocity. Right?
I´m coming to Thailand since nine years ago. I dont work here. If I have a landlady is because I like the place where i stay. Not difficult to understand.
Passport was one more time thicker and money shown was one more time slimmer.
I have read the post of the 32 years old english guy and that made me write my post, just to advise he was not the only one.
I love this country. Im a honest guy. Not criminal. Place where I live, people respect me.

Hi there,
This is my story I will like to share.
After 2 and a half months in my country and 33 hours flight, have arrived to Thailand.
When passing immigration, officer has called a superior and they took me apart to a desk.
While getting to the desk high ranked officer asked me to call some thai national I know. Luckily I could reach landlady.
Officer has asked me for proof of funds. I have shown usd 700 and 5 credit cards.
He said that was not enough for my two month stay, so I replied I didnt want to carry more due to pickpockets and robbery back in my country, so I could go and withdraw more from ATM. He didn´t allow me to do so.
He has spoken with landlady two times for fifteen minutes. She supported me saying I don´t work here -true-, that my money comes from my country -true-, and I base in Thailand to travel around SEAsia - true-.
Im a legal tourist, never had an issue with immigration, always followed rules. Never overstayed.
Many years since I first came to Th and I´ve been doing this for long.
Officer said that I have stayed six months last year in Thailand, and cash was not enough. Those were reasons given.
He threaten me sending back home.
Didn´t want to argue. Led him calm down as he was quite arrogant and rude.
Finally upon landlady´s translation, she told me to "help" him.
Needed to go to the toilet, my passport was thicker and I was let get in.
Mixed feelings caught me. I love this country, but they are ruining it. Not helping even locals with this policies. I can see less and less tourists.
My exempt visa entry is for three months.
Now thinking going to Malaysia. My return ticket is to KL. And using Malaysia as my travel hub, even I love Thailand.
Don´t deserve being threatened, being treated as a criminal, I just come and spend my money as a tourist.
Thought about making a complaint with my embassy, writting this to media back in my country. Then changed my mind just for local citizens they do their living from tourist, as me.
Im feeling sad. Really.

I have no idea but you could find out by showing the "modified" ticket to an IO and telling them it is a first class fake.............
In some countries writing bs on threads turns you into an ....take care :)

AKA deliberate fraud designed to deceive. In many countries this would be regarded as a criminal act.

Why do you use visa exempt entries? I would definitely recommend that you use tourist visas.
I'm in the same situation as you, I've been living here for almost 9 years. I stay here 9 months then I leave for between 2 - 7 days depending where I go for my next Tourist visa. Never had any problems at all.
However, I am in the process of setting up a Thai company for the new business I'm starting, unfortunately the company may not be ready in time for my next visa, so I will probably use another tourist visa entry before finally switching to a Non B visa and then a work permit.
Really as long as you have a proper tourist visa, an outbound flight booked and you are carrying the 20,000 baht (or equivalent in another major currency such as HKD, USD, EUR) then you really should have nothing to worry about.
I would also suggest that you dress smart. Jeans and a plain black t-shirt is enough, and wear decent shoes. Don't turn up wearing shorts, singlets, flip flops.Thank you man. Following threads in the forum is nice when you find people as you. I think we are trying to help one each other, despite sometimes you find someone not in his best mood.
As blorg has pointed, I got three months visa exempt entry, so that's the reason I'm not applying for tourist visa. Also blorg has explained it further.
Rest of the advises Im making them all. Got proper trousers, shoes, shirt, short hair, perfume :) Always watching immigration officer face before queuing ( this one you haven't mentioned it, but is quite important).
Onward ticket back home can easily be modified using .pdf editor ( does thai immigration read this forum?) Ok....Im a good guy immigration officer :) I just have the chance to travel around and I have liked Thailand to use as a base.

That's an old rule, they got rid of that years ago.
What will this mean? How many entries per year can you make? How long would you be able to stay?

I ve been here for seven years on tourists visas, although with the current clampdowns, that may be coming to an end
This will be my last tourist visa, Im off somewhere else
Not because of the visa situation though, I just need a change
Yes man, I can understand. I'm going to go to Cambodia for visa run and checking over there too. I really like here, but not nice to feel as a fugitive. Despite the visa exempt entry "abuse", I'm 100 % legal. Don't need to work, spending money that comes from my country. Tourist in an eternal holiday.
But also I think if I might be so concerned due to two guys that were detained? Thousands of them passing every day through immigration .
Couple of guys I know that even read this forum, told me they haven't got any issue.
So, does the forum paranoid me a bit? :)

I make no claims about knowing how to live, long term in Thailand using tourist visa/visa exempt entries.
You must determine what is best for you.
So why have you advised me to take care? Has happened something to you or just wondering?

Take care --- Repeated visa exempt entries gained via a Bi-Lateral agreement can/will attract attention from immigration.
You think is better to apply for a tourist visa? Does make sense to apply for one month visa and extensions, when with the exempt entry I got three months in a row? What will Thai consulate think about this?
Somewhere I have read on tourists/exempt visa entries you are allowed to stay no more than 180 days per year.
But at the same time, Sanemax is advising you to stay under tourist visa???

You re asking about how to obtain a business visa , when you are not entitled to one .
You have even suggested a deception , by pretending to work for a company , paying tax on a salary that you will not receive
As I am in the same position as you, you can still stay here on tourist visas
Hi guys,
I'm exactly in same position. My money comes from my country and I like living here.
Maybe in the future planning to make business ( still trying to find what to do) but meanwhile, I would like not to have issues at inmigration every time I go for visa run.
When I need to leave Thailand ( every 3 months, due to my nationality) I go and visit neighbouring for a couple of weeks, and then I come back and have a new visa exempt entry stamp.
Why you Sanemax are so sure to say you can stay here on tourists visas? Aren't you concerned from last detentions?

When I was visiting on Tourist-Visas, I used Travelers Checks for most of the required 20K Baht. Bangkok Bank sells them.
Note that when this "show 20K Baht" stuff started, I could not find them for sale in Cambodia (though you can cash them there), and had to enter one time with a wad of easy-to-steal cash on me - not a feeling I liked. Maybe get a money-belt, if you want to go cash - but those are hot in this weather.
Is it possible to have cc cash advance in Cambodia? Between buying travelers checks in Thailand, or making a cc cash advance in Cambodia before entering Thailand, which option would you choose?
Almost denied at Suvarnabhumi airport
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits

Sometimes turns annoying reading comments that doubt about what has happened to me.
You are quoting what I have written about less and less tourists.
If i need to answer all of the comments, will stay whole day in front of the computer. I have written my experience in case helps somebody else. Im not a troll, Im not from central europe. Don´t mind about using translator as english is my second language and usually Im told Im fair enough.
Ok. By this time of the year, five years ago where I rent, all bungalows (11) were taken. Now just (3) three are rented and landlords complaining.
Yes, you can enable your theory that they have moved to neighour bungalows, are living on the trees or whatever you can imagine.
