  1. Yes!!!AGAIN!Well Iam into browny points.... And the Mother and Father in law are number one!!

My Father in law works for the company I work for and he works his but off, as well as me and my Wife also, so there is a middle ground. I am very fortunate to have great people and I believe there are many good Thai's. As well as stories.... so we all know them....

So take the pat on the back and lets get this place going!Thailand that is!

Just to add one more voice of farangs, who have married into Thai families who are NOT after the farang's money, to the discussion.

Here is our story (written and published in the US in 2000):

Dont be stupid, there were many hundreds of others all around me, mostly in the aged 40 to 65 yrs age group, and boy did those women like to be heard! they did'nt seem to be satisfied for more than a few hours despite all the luxuries they had with them. Nearby was a man of about 65 yrs with a Thai wife around 30 , they seemed so happy together............makes me wonder ?

If you don't have anything to contribute to the topic at hand then please refrain from posting such off-topic drivel thank you.

  3. MMMM...Well as I live and work here, this is no surprise :D As in they tried 8 months ago to sort out the land office, still going on.They, as in the boys and girls who work there, are, I would say they are crapping them selves but the Concise English would no doubt slaughter me for it, so I will use the word worried about all land deals re the Farang 49% etc etc already been discussed IN THE PAST!

The real deal as I see it is, that we, the token Farang, aint Chinese aint Thai, so best you either sell and get the f..k out of dodge! :o

Or put the company in a proper mode as in do what is written down as in Directors etc etc..

So in a Thai's name, wife, gig, boyfriend whatever, then you are at risk again.....Or are you....????mmmmm

100 DSI, police officers raid Koh Samui, arrest Briton

Koh Samui, Surat Thani: -- A team of 100 officers from the Crime Suppression Division, Anti-Money Laundering Office and Department of Investigation raided this tourist destination island Tuesday morning and arrested a Briton and three Thais.

The Briton, Peter Watkinjones, 40, was accused of leading a multinational mafia gang which bribed land officials to gain access to public land on the island for sale to foreigners.

The officers, divided into small teams, raided ten spots to try to arrest seven members of the so-called Bandidos gang.

DSI spokesman Pol Col Dussadee Arayawutthi said the three Thai men were identified as Pramual Somwong, a land official, and two ordinary people - Samroeng Buanak and Prateep Muangkaew.

He said a Briton and two Danish men were still elusive.

He said the seven were suspected of using influence to pressure local businesses and people to sell business and land to them and they paid bribe to land officials to use land documents elsewhere to forge ownership of public land on the island and sold them to foreigners at steep prices.

Dussadee said the sale contracts were undervalued as the buyers paid the rest of the money to the gang abroad.

Full tests at Suvarnabhumi Airport start July 3

BANGKOK: -- With the scheduled opening of Bangkok's new Suvarnabhumi International Airport only three months away, complete testing of the new airport facilities will begin Monday (July 3), the airport director said Saturday, to ensure that the national showcase is ready for the launch.

Suvarnabhumi Airport Director Somchai Sawasdipol said tests would be conducted on air-conditioning and lighting systems passenger check-in counters and the operation of CTX bomb scanners starting Monday and continuing until the airport's opening for commercial use.

Low-cost airlines will undertake tests by taking off and landing at the airport on July 29.

The airport is scheduled for commercial opening two months later, on September 28.

Regarding expressed concerns that staff who are transferred from the existing Don Muang International Airport and newly recruited personnel may encounter problems on using the state-of-the-art equipment at Suvarnabhumi Airport when it opens, Mr. Somchai said there should be no problem as full training has been given to all officials.

The eight-storey complex, including an underground floor--where there will be electric mass transit facilities--and passenger terminals of the new airport, has a total area of some 563,000 square meters and is located on the northern part of the airport. It can cater to 45 million passengers annually.

  5. Hi

I'm 20 years old and from the UK and i'm looking to head out to Thailand in the summer. I'm trying to get my head out of the rat race and i'm planning on staying in Thailand f :D or as long as i possibly can! Hopefully this will be at least a year to 18 months, although this all depends on getting the right visa! What I would like to know is, what would be my best visa option considering I don't have a definate length of time i'm planning to stay and i plan to move about the country alot.

I'm probably going to be living on a shoestring and won't have the money for expensive visa runs (air flights etc). Your advice is greatly appreciated.

    Thank you,

    Sean

Sean, well if you are a clever 20 year old, now, what I mean is shoe string works, to a degree, but the doe will run out real fast if you aint careful....

Just watch out for the deep talking tall ladies....

Joking apart take care!Great place but it can be expensive so get yourself Lonely Planet to start It helps a wee bit
