  1. Thanks. About how long would guess it might take? In other words when should I go back to the banks and ask again?
  2. I got the new DTV visa. When I came to Thailand I tried to open a Thai baht account with this visa. I tried five different banks. None of the banks knew about this visa. So they all said no. What are the chances Thai banks will update their policies to allow foreigners with DTV to open bank accounts?
  3. It's been over two weeks since I've submitted my DTV application. Still no response. Does this seems normal?
  4. I also have a question about multiple entries within one year? Say I arrive in Thailand in November. I get 180 days from the DTV But I go to Malaysia in January What happens when I come back to Thailand? Does my 180 day visa get canceled? In other words how many entries/exits can I make from Thailand within those 180 days?
  5. I'm glad you found it funny. It is supposed to be a joke. I was doing the opposite of writers who have bios listing a bunch of prizes, awards and publications. But you are correct. A Thai immigration official will not get the joke. Thanks for point that out.
  6. Yes, I agree it is a gamble. I know from experience if they deny the visa for any reason (or no reason) at all, the fee is gone. You have to apply again and pay the fee again.
  7. Hello, I’d like to apply for the DTV. One possible requirement is to submit a “Professional portfolio showcasing… freelancer status.” I’m a freelance writer. I often write about Thai travel and culture. I post these stories on Medium. Would a list of stories written by me about Thailand posted on Medium count as “a professional portfolio showcasing… freelancer status.” (Note: I earn zero money from this; it’s just for fun) Here’s a link to that list: https://medium.com/@jourdanarenson/list/predefined:ab061874f532:READING_LIST Another possible requirement is to submit a “Letter of acceptance from institute organising activities” I also take Thai language courses when in Thailand. Would it be a safer option for me to submit a letter from the Thai language school? Would it make sense to submit both? I appreciate any help.
  8. Ah....good advice. I wanna try those farang friendly branches until success. I'll be staying near Democracy Monument to start off. Maybe move to Silom Road area after that. I've spent lots of time in Bangkok and can get around easily. Which branch should I start with? Thanks.
  9. I'll be staying in Thailand and would like to open a Bangkok Bank Savings account for the ease of having an ATM card. I'll be on a Tourist Visa but will NOT have a work permit nor permanent residence. The Bangkok Bank website (Savings Account (bangkokbank.com) says foreigners can open with "A reference letter issued by an overseas bank where the customer holds an account sent via SWIFT." I have a WISE account. How would I get that reference letter? Or are there some Bangkok Bank branches where a foreigner can open a Savings Account without that paperwork? Appreciate any advice.
  10. I contracted COVID on Koh Phangan. I was then ordered to do a ten-day isolation by the government hospital here. After completing the ten-day isolation, the hospital issued this certificate attached. Is this certificate sufficient for travel? It says I completed the home isolation but doesn’t use the word “recovered.” Do I need to get another certificate (for example from Dr. Donna at MedConsult)? Thanks for your advice
