Unless you can leave and re-enter the country before your OA visa expires your only choice is to apply for an extension of stay based upon retirement.

That will  require 800k baht in a Thai bank for 2 months or proof of 65k baht income.

If you are Canadian you can do a statutory declaration at your embassy in Bangkok to prove the 65k baht income. They ask for proof of income to do it.

You will also need proof of insurance from one of the companies of this list. https://longstay.tgia.org/home/companiesoa

LMG insurance offers policies with a 200k baht deductible that is a lot less costly than the others.

There are no provisions for your situation.

Unfortunately leaving and re-entering is still not possible.

Well actually no problem leaving but, re-entering is the problem.

  2. For clarity I should have mentioned that I prefer not leaving 800K in Thai bank.

I had my embassy approve the 800K held in Canada for my current OA.

    So question remains:

    1) Can I apply in Roi Et for an extension to my current OA and

    2) Will I need insurance or anything else now if able to apply for an extension.

Prior to Covid I just needed to exit and re-enter and understood I received a one year extension hoping that there may be provisions now for this?

  3. Well here goes...

I am in Thailand and my Non imm OA visa issued by my embassy last year is due to expire soon.

Thought I had timed it well as I got into Thailand just under the wire (Oct 30 2019) eliminating the need for the new required insurance.

I believed I had planned well and would be set for an extension of a second year as long as I exited Thailand and returned close to my expiration date and again thought no insurance would be needed?

Then Covid hit.... So as we all know I can exit Thailand but now I can't return.

Would like to continue to utilize my Non imm OA visa as don't like the 800K requirement of the NON imm O.

Also probably won't meet the requirements for the Non imm O as not married?

The plan is to go to immigration next week to ask about my situation but would like to check here first.

So, my question here is... what are my options to get an extension on this OA .  Or do I actually have any??

  4. Sure those two would be a good starts. Then would check with your bank.

Who do they use for leasing and anyone else?

You will eventually narrow it down to a high volume place that has a good inventory and therefore saving yourself at least ( depending on age) 25- 40% from new????

Strongly suggest you get it professionally inspected and get it on a hoist and do a self inspection underneath.

Best of luck on your hunt.

Wish i were closer to you to offer assistance as for some strange reason i enjoy hunting for vehicles??????

  5. I would suggest contacting a couple of leasing companies.

Unfortunately with Covid many people have been unable to maintain payments and have therefore returned their leased vehicle.

This means that there should be a substantial amount of inventory of these vehicles available.

If able be patient and get the word out your looking .... You have made the first step ????

Thailand does not require a health form or other documentation for you to leave.

You need to check and comply with your transit and destination countries as you may be asked for and required to show documents upon check in.

    Thanks for the response Blackcab.

Cathy Pacific website appears to state declaration form is required as per below...

    https://www.cathaypacific.com/cx/en_AE/travel-information/travel-preparation/travel-advisories/notice-regarding-travel-restrictions.html

All flights to Thailand have been suspended until 30 June 2020.

As we monitor travel restrictions to Thailand, select Cathay Pacific flights will continue to run.
Flights from Thailand to Hong Kong will continue to run as scheduled. To board, passengers must meet Hong Kong entry or transit requirements.

A health declaration form, Link opens in a new window operated by external parties and may not conform to the same accessibility policies as Cathay Pacific (available only via mobile apps) must be completed and submitted prior to departure.

  7. Chloroquine?

Checking my medicine cabinet I discovered that I had filled a prescription from a previous cancelled trip of a anti-marlaria medicine called Atovaquone Proguanil. After reading about Chloroquine I did a web search to see if Atovaquone Proguani was comparable to Chloroquine.

Unfortunately I was unable to uncover anything helpful.

Would anyone know if Atovaquone Proguanil has the same or similar comparable properties to Chloroquine ?

  8. Reviving an old thread as ....

My plan to return to Thailand in September is soon approaching and thought I really should check-in here to confirm if process at immigration is still as I understood from last year?

    Please see below...

"If I return to Thailand prior to Sept 25 2019 a 1 year extension/permit on my original 1 year NON O-A is provided by immigration with a stamp in my passport on my arrival and this is the permit to stay date until September 24th, 2020.  Then if i wish to travel out of Thailand during this 1 year period I need to apply for a TM8."

    1) If above is still accurate can I apply for a TM8 at immigration when I arrive or ?

    2) and will the TM8 provide multiple entries or is a TM8 required each time I leave and come back.

    Thanks in advance

    Cheers

  9. Is the following list of requirements for a 90 day report for Chiang Mai immigration accurate? If so how many copies of each document is required?

    Documents  Required

    --- Form TM47
--- First page of  Passport showing picture
--- Passport page showing latest VISA stamp
--- Passport page showing expiration date of passport (If different from 1st page)
--- Copy of Arrival Card (your passport may have the Departure Card)

--- Foreign National Information Form (with Passport size Photo)
--- Proof of address (Ex: copy of Rental Agreement).

  10. I am on a Non Imm O A and will be applying at Chiang Mai immigration for my first 90 day as apparently the online does not work for first timers? Can someone send me the link for all required forms needed and any tips for the line up while I am there at Immigration at Chiang Mai including best times to go....

    Thanks in advance????

  11. Ok, Joe I think I have a better understanding of this now.

"As I wrote you need the re-entry permit after September 25th, 2019 since you will no longer have a valid visa to use for entry to the country.

If you entered on September 25th, 2019 you would get a permit to stay date until September 24th, 2020. You would then need a re-entry permit that would be valid for entry until September 24th, 2019 and when used you would get a permit to stay to that date."

Can you please confirm the date of September 24th, 2019 from above is actually meant to be September 24th, 2020 ?

Thanks for your patience and help.
