Dear Rooster - a comment on your final remarks - I have unlimited admiration for your courageous reporting and that of your fellow scribes at Khaosod English. Keep up the good work but please stay safe

Yes the government will organize, and twist the results just the same as they did at the election.
Yes, it was amended after the vote.

'a very modern thinker' - apart from murdering and chopping up journalists.

I completed one last week. I get one for completion every 2 years. The problem being that the part for completion by the Thai person is in English and I have had issues with getting it signed especially from my bank. They should have an explanation in Thai so they know what they are signing. Thais do not like signing forms.
I got mine signed and stamped (no charge) by the Juristic person - lady behind the counter - in my condo.

Sturgeon needs to keep her nose out of UK government quarantine restrictions, totally stupid to have different set of rules within one country. Doesn't really matter as everywhere will be locked down in europe within weeks and then the fun really starts with the civil disobedience.
One country? no - Scotland is a country, England is a country.

Do a survey amongst the millions of unemployed, and there is your answer.
The unemployment figures will only increase as long as you stop tourists from entering.
Thailand can survive - its the international tourism trade which is at serious risk.

Presumably to convert any convenient sand banks into Chinese islands surrounded with huge EEZs

Yesterday my local Lotus in Chiang Mai at around 10 am had no checking staff, no temperature control but sign-in, check in sheet available and even one other entrance without any passive controls at all. Such relaxation is obviously potentially dangerous.

Slightly off topic but I got mine signed and stamped yesterday by my condo juristic person - not charged.

Such horrible news. One case. Unacceptable. It is a huge disaster. Public health is at great great risk. The country should be totally shut down for another 6 months 555
Hardly a matter for facetious remarks when lives and the nation's economy is at risk.

But they would be happily using the Euro - currently at any rate a far more stable currency than sterling.

Given mass economic immigration from the Muslim world and the high fertility of Muslim women, it's not inconceivable that the superstition and ignorance of Islam will have the final word and freedom of speech will be lost, not only in France, but across much of Western Europe. Even in a democracy, their tendency to vote according to the diktats of the local mosque means that their influence can far outweigh their statistical numbers.
This is certainly true of Pakistan where the Mullahs have never got more than 15% of the vote. But they have street power and the politicians have long ago put up the white flag.

And keeping the economy running at half speed is a "recipe for success"?
Depends on how many people you are prepared to see die horribly. Human life or money?

Well it would be easier - what with the customer's wallets being considerably lighter after check-in.
Last week, as instructed on the AA website, I tried to check in before coming to the airport. It did not work in spite of repeated efforts and I checked in as usual at CNX.

Foreigners with WPs could maybe be eligible for the We Travel Together promotion...as for retirees, hotels and attractions already have pretty promotional pricing so probably no more incentives to travel are needed.
Just back from five great days in Hua Hin (from Chiang Mai). However a word of advice as I booked through Hotel Travel com. and the hotel was shocked at how much we paid and said that had we been 'walk ins' or booked directly it would have been 50% cheaper.

That assumes that the Thai baht won't be further devalued as the economic situation worsens!
Well the Thai Central Bank has announced yesterday that it will not intervene to block a stronger Baht.

Waste of money for those folks. Maybe I am wrong because of there nationalities and they are not Thai, but still would think they had to be covid free to enter.
At least it shows that the Thai Government's quarantine rules are effective.
