They want your money in their bank . That's it. I have my $$ in stocks ,bonds, CDs and mutual funds invested in my country that earn a hell of alot more than what I get here in a 3rd world thai bank. Im not going to start tearing apart my portfolio for this .
Bottom line is that they dont want foreighners here..(unless their chinese.) Lol
I've heard many times, thais dont like foreighners but love the money.

You're right asking personal questions ...that was inappropiate. In fact rude and none of their business.

9 minutes ago, Mike Wolfe said:That's interesting what was the name of the immigration supervisor you met with yesterday? Because I just left the immigration office in Bangkok a few minutes ago myself where I also had a meeting with a supervisor there named Wattanapong Tawara about the future of the income affidavits for United States citizens and he assured me that there are absolutely no changes coming regarding the proof of income affidavit for U.S. citizens. He said that immigration isn't changing any procedures regarding the extension of retirement or marriage visas for any citizen of any country and that the issue regarding the British citizens is merely a British embassy issue and he said that no other embassy is changing the way they process their income letters and he assured me again that all immigration offices throughout Thailand will continue to accept the income affidavits next year and for the foreseeable future. So what was the name of the immigration supervisor who you spoke with? The man I spoke with today is a very senior level immigration supervisor and he told me exactly the opposite of what you posted. So far you're the first person to post any information about this and it only came from one immigration officer, and I'm the second person. What was the immigration supervisors name? I'm really curious to know if you spoke to the same IO as I did which was the same immigration office as well. I really want to know who you spoke with, I know who I spoke with at immigration. Again according to him they will continue to accept the income affidavits next year and they have no plans to change the process for any citizen of any country and that came from a high level immigration supervisor at the same office.
Mike, youre correct . I'm in CM and the visa agent said the same . Bangkok has not changed a thing. Also renrwed my passport yesterday at U.S. Consulate at CM I asked about affafavits they said no change in the foreseeable future. And said that's only the British Embassy.

What a joke. So now immigration want proof of money in their 3rd world banking system. Either proof of having 800,000 in a thai bank or proof of deposit into a thai bank each month of 65,000. No thanks. My pension is 78,000bht a month. And I have proof .I keep it my bank in my country. And easily live on 40,000bht by atm withdrawals with no fee.
Fed up with their constant games ,rule changing ,tea money and hypocrasy. I lived in Colombia , Ecuador ,Vietnam and
Cambodia never put up with such nonesense. They dont want me to put my pension into their evonomy, fine.

Unfortunately, he had added the amounts from multiple sources incorrectly (off by about $20) and his agency required him to return to the US Consulate and pay for yet another statement showing the corrected amount before submitting the documents again.
We both wondered afterwards if our back-up alone would have been sufficient – it seems a fair amount of money to pay for something that is no longer accepted…
I did it a week ago in CM. No backup required. Just affadavit. .. maybe you two looked like deadbeats.

You're right it is off subject. Instead of hijacking this thread why don't you start your own . Then you can babble all you want.

Show some respect and keep the dog on its lead AND pick up any mess it leaves........you should not need telling
Yes I agree but the OP has made it VERY clear he does NOT like being told what to do. So tread lightly. Lol.

Thanks for the advice. Will avoid DHL and Fedex. So regular mail was reliable?

Does anyone have experience ordering from ebay? I'm looking to order some vitamins and health and beauty products. From a U.K seller. Curious about customs ,their tax . reliability of the mail and time frame.
Thanks

Always makes me laugh when the advice is " buy it snacks/food , make friends with the dog " . Pathetic . Hey go but it filet mignon..5555. This miserable mongrel is aggressively chasing you more than likely will bite if given the chance and YOU are told to play nice and placate!?. The ones that give that advice are the same ones who gave the school bully their lunch money everyday . Don't talk to the owner . Useless. Avoid that road route altogether. If that's not possible then go the bleach route.

They like breaking up the food into tiny bits.. like when feeding a baby, then only using a fork (they don't see able to know how to use a knife) to eat the meal. The leave the dirty knife laying on the table or side of the plate while switching the fork back and forth from right to left hand.
With the fork they then poke at and stir the contents of the meal around and around on the plate, usually waving the fork (with food attacked) around in the air while they are shouting their conversation across the restaurant for all to hear. They like to laugh loudly with open mouths full of food while at the table.
The they will be still taking (usually about themselves.. 'I was like, she was like, so I though it was like, and like like like..me me me.. I did this, I did that, like....awesome!!' while shoveling it into their mouth at the same time, and still speaking with mouth full of food.. with lots falling form their open mouths.
They will at some point usually start blowing their nose into a tissue in public and the dinner table.
They usually like to have a few bottles of beer with their food to... even breakfast or lunch it seems, instead of water or some other drink. They will even drink it from the bottle and not use a glass.
They will pile huge bits of food onto their fork and then shove the fork and food right into their mouths. Thais would consider putting the fork into your mouth as rude. Here it's prober to use the fork to put the food onto the spoon.
I have even seem Americans here trying to eat a pizza with a fork and SPOON!!! But maybe that is a step up from their usual way to pick up and eat pizza and burgers, etc WITH THEIR HANDS!!! Again I suspect it's because of the not knowing how to use a knife and fork properly.
So before you go poking fun and putting down Thai people for they way they eat.. take a look at your own eating habits.
You are an ass ????

It’s a unique and fun holiday that a lot of old geezers moan about for the next month on TVF. I like Bangkok’s 3 days of water throwing and recklessness. I don’t know what traffic the OP is yacking on about Bangkok is dead for at least 5/6 days. Almost quiet on the streets. It’s also mainly in just a few areas in Bangkok as well. The ice water is extremely refreshing since it’s sooo hot out. Maybe some of you haters that brag about how many years you have locked yourself up should go out, buy a huge gun and water fight!! It’s extremely therapeutic! Makes you feel exhilarated! You can take out all your pent up anger and aim your guns right at women and children if you want or Chinese or Russians or DT supporters or surprise spray someone on a motor bike that should have known Songkran was coming for the past year but still decided to drive one.
""Take all your pent up rage and aim your guns at women and children ""....You are a PUNK, A COWARD AND A POS.

Hi .Its time to renew my retirement visa. This is my second time. I stil live at the same place .the TM30 was filed from the owner here when I appled for my original retirement visa. So I"m assuming that should still be on file with immigration. I did evrything myself last year. Can anyone please tell me if any changes has occurred. lately with regards to paperwork/forms/requirements. My income verification will be the Consulate affadavit. This will be in Chiang Mai. Went today to CM . Arrived at 10am to transfer old pp info to new and also a 90 day report. Was completely done by 10:40. Organized , streamlined and freindly staff. Far cry from promenada.
