    They want your money in their bank .  That's it. I have my $$ in stocks ,bonds, CDs and mutual funds invested in my country that earn a hell of alot more than what I get here in a 3rd world thai bank. Im not going to start tearing apart my portfolio for this .

    Bottom line is that they dont want foreighners here..(unless their chinese.) Lol

    I've heard many times, thais dont like foreighners but love the money.

    Mike, youre correct . I'm in CM and the visa agent said the same .  Bangkok has not changed a thing.  Also renrwed my passport yesterday at U.S. Consulate at CM  I asked about affafavits they said no change in the foreseeable future.  And said that's only the British Embassy.

    What a joke.  So now immigration want proof of money in their 3rd world banking system.  Either proof of having 800,000 in a thai bank or proof of deposit into a thai bank each month of 65,000. No thanks. My pension is 78,000bht a month. And I have proof .I keep it my bank in my country. And easily live on 40,000bht by atm withdrawals with no fee.

    Fed up with their constant games ,rule changing ,tea money and hypocrasy.  I lived in Colombia , Ecuador ,Vietnam and 

    Cambodia never put up with such nonesense. They dont want me to put my pension into their evonomy, fine.

    My friend & I went on the same day.  He used an agency and I did it solo.  We both presented US affidavits alone but were required to produce back-up documentation. Unfortunately, he had added the amounts from multiple sources incorrectly (off by about $20) and his agency required him to return to the US Consulate and pay for yet another statement showing the corrected amount before submitting the documents again.

    We both wondered afterwards if our back-up alone would have been sufficient – it seems a fair amount of money to pay for something that is no longer accepted…

    I did it a week ago in CM. No backup required. Just affadavit. .. maybe you two looked like deadbeats.

    Does anyone have experience ordering from ebay? I'm looking to order some vitamins and health and beauty products.  From a U.K  seller. Curious about customs ,their tax . reliability of the mail and time frame.

    Always makes me laugh when the advice is " buy it snacks/food , make friends with the dog " . Pathetic . Hey go but it filet mignon..5555. This miserable mongrel is aggressively chasing you more than likely  will bite if given the chance and YOU are told to play nice and placate!?. The ones that give that advice are the same ones who gave the school bully their lunch money everyday . Don't talk to the owner . Useless. Avoid that  road route altogether. If that's not possible then go the bleach route.

    Thai eating habits

    They will pile huge bits of food onto their fork and then shove the fork and food right into their mouths.  Thais would consider putting the fork into your mouth as rude.  Here it's prober to use the fork to put the food onto the spoon.  

     

    I have even seem Americans here trying to eat a pizza with a fork and SPOON!!!  But maybe that is a step up from their usual way to pick up and eat pizza and burgers, etc WITH THEIR HANDS!!!  Again I suspect it's because of the not knowing how to use a knife and fork properly. 

     

    So before you go poking fun and putting down Thai people for they way they eat.. take a look at your own eating habits.

    retirement visa renewal

    Hi .Its time to renew my retirement visa. This is my second time. I stil live at the same place .the TM30 was filed from the owner here when I appled for my original retirement visa. So I"m assuming that should still be on file with immigration. I did evrything myself last year. Can anyone please tell me if any changes has occurred. lately with regards to paperwork/forms/requirements. My income verification will be the Consulate affadavit. This will be in Chiang Mai. Thankyou.
