Derek took over what was called the Bike Shop and renamed it Mad Micks Bar - Where the plain insane meet!
Early 1993 it was.
Ah happy days...

RIP mate. I still can't believe you're gone. Soi Yamato won't be the same without you, that's for sure.

Thanks for that.

Does anyone know if there is a Thai massage school in Korat?
Thanks,

My wife has both British & Thai passports. The Thai one has a stamp in confirming that her surname has been changed to mine.
She has just applied for a new Thai passport at Queens Gate. They told her that they do not endorse the new biometric passports with the surname change stamp, so it was issued in her Thai name, which is what she wants anyway.
Also she doesn't want to change her name on her Thai ID as she says that she will lose her rights to own/buy land etc.
So my question is can she have two passports, a British one in her married name, and a Thai one in her maiden name?
Will this cause problems when buying air tickets to Thailand?

Thailand are competing at the Baseball World Cup that is currently being played in Taiwan.

Walg, I've read your posts but you don't say you know 100% that she is seeing someone else.
I was suspicious once that my missus was seeing another man. She was coming home from work late and when I asked her why she would give me a load of old fanny that I knew was b/s.
So, I got someone to follow her for a couple of weeks. All she was doing was going out with her workmates for coffee or a drink.
I never told her that I had her followed, but I wondered why she wouldn't tell me the truth. It's not like I would have minded, but to come home from work late and give soppy reasons why got me suspicious, in the end for nothing.
Check first that she is seeing someone else.

the interesting thing to find out would be what would have happened if HE invited a thai girl he just met to stay at their bed? would that have been the final straw for her too?
might be worth a study
Well, he has just come back from Pattaya, and i believe according to his wife, has found himself a new "companion".
-
Another Thai-Farang couple we know have just split.
According to him, the final straw was when she invited to stay (in their one-bed flat) a Thai man who she had only just met !
He said to me something like, "this is our home, not her village."

Have you got any facts to support that "racism is rife in the UK"? I don't believe it is. Yeah, you will always get the odd fracas etc and everybody puts it down to racism but that doesn't warrant the word "rife". What is it called when two whites fight each other?
White on black assult is a racist crime.
Black on white assult is a motiveless crime.

Yet another half are just media influenced (look at the peadophile!)
Paedo-hysteria is rife here in the UK. - Only last week i was walking down the road with my daughter when some boy-racers drove past shouting out "paedophile"!
I couldn't believe it. I'm 35 and my daughter is seven, so what must it be like for men with younger wives.

My sister-in-law sent the missus a parcel from Korart on 21 july. It arrived here in London on 25th - That's FOUR days !
It cost B794.00.

1. The bar owner fills the bar up with women so that he/she can profit from the bar fines.
2. The bar owner fills the bar up with women so that he/she can profit from the beer sales that will be earned from the customers drawn in.
Now, which one of these best decribes Soi Yodsak?

I think you have to catch the bus from Mor Chit to get to Ayutthaya.
-
I've stayed there too, albeit in 2000. It's not in the best location, imo.
There was a Thai-society wedding going on there when we stayed, so the place was very busy.

Will add that in the early 1990's the Thai train stopped at the border on one side of platform and you boarded a Malaysian train for the trip to Butterworth from the other side for a period. So that route has had several variations.
I remember that too. - Then when i first went back to Penang after it had changed, i was quite amused to find Malaysian staff working the Thai carriages!

"For security purposes, bag searches will be carried out at the entrances. Please do not bring your own food or drinks to the Festival as these are provided on site. Exceptions will only be made for water or in special circumstances"
It looks like they are using security reason's to make you handover your sarnies, so that you spend more inside
Last time we went, it was really hot and most people were sitting on the grass outside of the enclosed section. It was a sun-trap inside there.
Also, a few old Thai women were walking round selling their Kong Warn for a £ a go. I had had a few scoops by then and had to pinch myself, which park was we in, Battersea or Lumpini?
-
They seem to have put their prices up (I seem to remember it was only £1 or so in years past):
It used to be free!
Btw, i wonder if there is a seperate price for Thais' ?

Anyone stayed in the Bel-Air Princess ..?
Friends have booked themselves and two young daughters for a couple of nights in this hotel.. the only thing worrying me is where it is. It's on Suk soi 5.
What does everyone think... I just want them all to get a decent first impression of Bangkok
totster
We've stayed there 5 times with our daughter. The last time, we were walking down Soi 5 and she said, "This street is crazy!"
In fact, a friend of ours was going to Bkk for the first time and i recomended the Bel Aire to him. I would have loved to have seen his face when he first set foot outside.

I stayed at the Continental. Very good location, clean, good rooms w A/C, decent breakfast buffet, decent price.
I agree with Meadish about the Continental. I've stayed there several times and have never had any complaints.
Regarding the buses to/from Batu Ferringhi, i think they stop at about 10PM, so that's when the taxis' have you by the gonads.

Just a thought. The referee, Argentinan Horacio Elizondo, would have been 18 years old during the Falklands conflict. Didn't they have conscription back then?

I think that resort was called the Palm villa.
