  1. So as I understand this, extensions of OA's will only require 3m cover if done after 1st Sep 22.

New applications will require 3m cover but can be with an overseas insurance company.

Previously I have 2 health policies, one from LMG just for the OA extension, and a proper health policy from Cigna. Does this mean in future I may be able to use the the Cigna one only and scrap LMG ?

  2. It's possible a rejection is on its way. I had one vaccine in bkk and one in the UK. So this might cause a problem. But if that's the case I can't understand why they would pre approve it.

I did speak to someone who got rejected for similar reasons so he just changed to unvaccinated and will now do the full quarantine. But he was flying to bkk.

If that did happen, am I even able to go unvaccinated into phuket?

If not I may have to start over and write off all the travel costs I've spent so far!

  3. I'm also waiting for final coe approval for phuket with my flight booked for 16th Oct.

I started the process on 3 Oct and received pre approval on the 4th.

I had initially assume that pre approval meant the documents I had submitted in stage 1 had been accepted.  It appears now from reading other accounts that may not be the case.

I submitted travel info on 6th Oct and received an immediate email acknowledging receipt. Although I'm now beginning to think I should have started this process much earlier.

How long does it normally take to receive approval after you have submitted travel details?

  4. I had my first Astra Jab in Thailand, flew to the Uk and had the 2nd there.

The NHS app shows my 2nd jab and marked it as 2 of 2. However I can't get the covid pass, as they can't fully incorporate overseas jabs into their system as yet. Working on it apparently.

Problem is I want to return to Thailand now. I tried unsuccessfully to submit a sandbox CoE application. I attached one documents for each jab, but it kept telling me to attach the vaccine certificate.

I did check with the Thai embassy before I left if I'd be able to apply for the sandbox, having been vaccinated in two different places, and they said yes. However that probably means nothing.

So the question...is this just a technical error with the application form, or am I likely to be considered not fully vaccinated and have to spend 10 days in quarantine in BKK ?

  5. I've had one astra zeneca vaccine shot here in Thailand and I plan to fly to the UK, visit family and get the second shot before returning to Thailand.

However I can see problems. I will have two pieces of paper showing the 2 different shots in 2 diffferent countries, but I'm not certain if that be accepted. I will be fully vaccinated of course but I'm not certain if the documentation I have will be satisfactory.

    Sandbox website says:

The vaccine certificate/card must be issued by a government authority either in digital or paper format (document issued by private entities will not be accepted). The vaccine certificate must contain the following information:
The travellers' personal details, including name, date of brith, nationality and passport number.

Anyone have any advice about this ?

Also if I go into quarantine in Bangkok instead, does that require full vaccination ?

  6. I was also wondering about this as I contemplate the hassles of a trip back to the Uk. My rentry certificate takes my up to end of Jan 2020, so I assume from what's been said here I would need insurance to cover up to that date.

One thing puzzles me, I got a few quotes from the Axa Thailand website, for various periods. Here's what came up:

    1 month 2700 baht
    2 month 7600 baht
    3 months 14,860 baht
    4 months 14,860 baht

How does that make any sense ? 3 month cover is 5 times the cost of 1 month !

"Am I screwed ?"  I don't think so but what I would do first before you go, your Thai DL will be into it's 2nd year so go to your DLT office ' they love a story' with both DL's and ask them if you can have a 5 year Thai DL which you need to use in UK.

I'd be surprised if they didn't help.

As you know renewing your UK DL without UK address after 2 full years out of UK I read it's not valid other than to use it to change to a DL of the country you reside in.

All countries have different rules as to how long you can drive with a foreign DL.

Goodluck hope all goes well UK.

Ok well it's worth a try obtaining a 5 year licence.

But seriously I can't believe the whole system is such a cock up...or maybe I can.

You can renew online..simple as that...if your going back in the next few months use a family members address.

Yes I can do that but you have to declare you are resident in the UK and having submitted tax returns saying otherwise, and intending to do the same this year, I am concerned about problems with HMRC. And it's not peanuts at stake.

  9. My UK driving licence expires next month.
Being resident in Thailand I don't want to attempt to renew it using a family members address, particularly as I'm concerned about possible ramifications with HMRC.

I intend to return to the UK in the next few months for medical treatment which is not available here, and I was hoping to rent a car.

I have my first Thai licence which I obtained one year ago. However I read here somewhere that this is treated as a provisional licence and therefore will not allow me to drive in the UK.

    Am I screwed?

  10. This is what I have been quoted to have this done in Oxford.

I would say it is best to consult with a urologist, as there are many surrounding factors to take into consideration. At the moment I am on medication prescribed for me by Dr. Charuspong, but going on medication long term is not always the best solution for some of us. Also, it should be noted that Rezum and some of the other invasive treatments are not appropriate for everyone.

The best thing is to consult a doctor with experience in treating BPH.

So I had a consult with Dr. Charuspong at Bumringrad over the weekend. I did an ultrasound which revealed the prostate has grown further and I'm now intent on getting one of the so called minimally invasive procedures.

I'm on medication, but alpha blockers have side effects on me, the worse being fatigue. And finasteride can badly affect libido.

There are a whole raft of new procedures however it seems none of them are available here. Dr Charuspong did tell me Rezum is coming here soon, although there's no telling what soon means. So my plan is to fly back to the uk and have something done as soon as travel becomes easier.

This website is very useful, it gives all the procedures and where they are available in the uk.
    https://prostatematters.co.uk/

I'm undecided between Rezum and Urolift. At least with Urolift the benefits are almost instant, you are unlikely to need a catheter and there are zero sexual side effects. There is however a higher possibility of needing a repeat procedure compared to rezum.

Prostate artery embolization (PAE) also seems interesting. Aquablation is another new technique, which is effectively a waterjet to destroy tissue. It's more thorough than rezum or urolift but I get the impression there's a small chance of erectile dysfunction.

Rezum and urolift will cost around £5k - £6k done privately in the UK

GarryP you say you decided against Urolift. What are your reasons ?

  12. I first came here in 2016 and started using Tinder, I got a ton of matches. But now only 4 years later, I get very little and the quality of women has dropped markedly. I don't really know what's going on but things seem a whole lot harder.

Just curious to know if others have had much experience on dating sites and apps in Bangkok. And whether they had noticed the same thing ?

In that case you did not provide such proof and they want it now it seems?  Suspect your bank passbook and copies should be enough.

Correct I wasn't aware when doing it post I needed to supply any bank information, so I didn't and received the receipt. But this time with an agent doing it has been asked for.

  14. I gave my passport to an agent to get the visa extension stamp transferred to the new passport and also do my 90 day report. I still haven't got it back because now they are saying immigration want proof of 800k in the bank before doing the 90 day report.

A friend has also tried to do a 90 day rep and been asked for proof of funds.

    Is this something new ?
