  1. Some of these TEFL courses are just rubbish, you learn nothing but some are very good.

Twelve years ago I did mine with TEFL International in Ban Phe. It was a very good course and I recommended to a friend a couple of years ago. He was also very happy as they do run a great course. He is Dutch and very committed to teaching English so if he liked the course, most others would as well.

Also, as far as I know it was the first accredited TEFL course in Thailand.

Only the Thai Ministry of Education, in coordination with the Teachers Council of Thailand, possesses the authority to authorize teacher work permits, and most employing schools require EFL/ESL teaching qualifications. Regarding such qualifications, the MoE Teacher Admissions office in Bangkok accepts and acknowledges the following 3 certificates only:

    • ONE TESOL Certificate
    • ONE TESL Certificate
    • ONE TEFL Certificate (Text and Talk)
  2. What does 'Yed mae' mean?

Next time corner him in private and kick him in the balls. No witnesses and he will know his place.

    It means:

    F... Y... M.....

    This is what it means:

    1. yed 71 up, 28 down

    (Thai street language)

    1. (VT) The act of having a sexual intercourse.

    2. (INTJ) This sense of the term is used to express a complete surprise. It is usually used as a reply. The term "jed" can be used interchangeably.

    3. (INTJ) Always used with "mae" (mother), the term "yed mae!" is an interjection expressing surprise or disgust to a situation, equivalent to "F You!". It does not literally mean "to F your mother." Many variations of the term arise such as "mae yed!", "yed ped!" (ped = duck), "yed mon!" (mon is an abbreviation of "Doraemon"), "yed khrok!" (khrok = mortar) etc.

    1. I like to "yed" that girl. She's so F-in hot.

    2. John: Say, I've got laid with that girl last night.

Scott: Yeddddd!!!!! That's so cool, man!

    3. John: I've broken your lovely glasses.

Scott: Yed mae!!!!! I'll sunder you F-in son of a bitch!

  3. Absolutely typical of the Thai students mentality. Blame everyone but themselves for being ignorant, want it all, and intellectually challenged.

Oh I am going to fail. Report the lecturer for sexual harrasment.

Oh I am an hour late. Report the lecturer for being in the right classroom.

Oh I failed this test. Report the lecturer for teaching the wrong answers.

Oh I have been given detention. Report the lecturer for bullying.

Blame, blame, blame everyone and everything but themselves. When are they going to wake up and discover that the world does not owe them a living and that like others in the world excepting china they will actually have to put some work in to get that degree that is only recognised in many other countries as the equivalant of a high school education.

A Thai masters degree is the equivalent of an university entrance exam in the UK so why do they call themselves professor?

Yours digusted with the whole thai education mentality, s*** runs downhill expecially from the Thai education minister.

  4. However, he vowed never to ignore the importance of English. Tens of thousands of native English speakers and Indians would be imported to accelerate the development of English language skills in the country.

In his dreams. Tens of thousands of native English speakers. Who in their right mind would want to come here and work for a pittance whilst being treated as a dumb farang with less rights than the soi dog. How can he put NES and Indians in the same group of English imports. Or is he going to offer the same salary to the Indians as is offered to Phillipino's?

  5. I am a versatile and energetic TEFL teacher with high exposure in general management and operations. I also have solid I.T knowledge and substantial team leadership experience. A natural educator, tutor and mentor with years of experience in instructor training activities. Proven organisational flair and ability to plan and implement change.

I have been teaching Business subjects in China for a while but due to ongoing contractual problems decided to return to Thailand.

My career interests at the moment are in securing a new position that can offer challenge, diversity and scope for progression. My ideal teaching position would be on the coast as I love the sea.

Please PM me with any job offers.

Jobs with accommodation included would be much appreciated.
