Has anyone had to go to the Thai post office to pay the 7% VAT that was to be effective 1 May or was the 7% collected upon delivery to the home?

So does that mean you will have to go to the post office for every package coming in from another country to pay this BS tax? On top of this, they are working overtime trying to find how they can extract more money from expats living here. There are better places in this world to be and I for one will be moving on. Get out while you can because things are just going to get worse in the future.

It must be because the same people complain bitterly year after year! They announce over Social Media the first instance of air pollution as if no one else has a window through which to look, then repeat their complaints daily until the rains come.
Frankly, I haven't noticed that those complaints are improving air quality, but I might not be looking at the right numbers.
Put on the air purifiers at home, put on an N95 mask when you're outside, and get on with life. It's not a Zombie Apocalypse. The Thai government is doing what it 'thinks' is the best way to handle it (even if we don't,) and Thais don't like this air any more than we do.
Spoken by a long-term CM resident who obviously doesn't care about his health or his family's health if he has one. If you can't find a better alternative to living in CM and think running air purifiers and walking around with a N95 mask is the solution, you've got more problems than just the toxic air. Also, you must be joking if you think the government is doing what they think is best to handle it, but if you are serious, then you are also delusional.

Its a toxic hell hole. Oh, we're ok we have 6 air purifiers and keep our aircon filters clean, wear masks, don't go outside between 8am and 7pm, and try not to breath too hard. But we love it here.
Great way to live.

What happened to all the posters who live in CM that say the pollution is not that bad and doesn't affect them? Are they all gone or embarrassed to admit they still live there?

So does this mean every time I order supplements from the US, which I do regularly, I will now have to waste time going to the post office and waiting in line to pay this idiotic tax?
No problem, as I will only be in the LOS (Land of Stupidity) for another 3 months as I move on to a more hospitable environment. The best part of Thailand for many should be leaving it and that's exactly what I plan on doing.

Get ready for the dominoes to start falling as all this unpayable debt continues to skyrocket.
First, the consumer defaults which then drains the banks as their cash inflows continue to decrease requiring government assistance which itself does not have the funds to bail them all out.
Money printing starts sending inflation through the roof which in turn brings down the currency making things even worse. The same thing is playing out in the US and this, along with several other things will dethrone the US from its current world position.
All in all, the coming months are going to prove quite challenging which is probably a great understatement to where things are headed. Those not fully prepared are going to be in for the shock of their lives and all this is just around the corner. Tic toc, tic toc........

You just confirmed my last post.

Why is there even a Cambodian forum as there are hardly any replies to the questions asked? Total waste of time.

These guys are incredibly brave to Base Jump. The only problem is that as humans, we make mistakes, and one mistake for them is normally deadly. RIP.
Somehow I don't think "brave" is the correct word for it.

I read where Cambodia has a CBDC called Bakong. Does anyone have more info on this and how it works as I am considering a move to Cambodia this year?

Want to move to Siem Reap with my Thai girlfriend. I'm over 55 and retired but she is only 50. Will I be able to get her a 1 year retirement visa?

Very funny, comrade.............????
Not meant to be funny. I am someone who prefers to be a realist and sees the world for what it really is, not what some people want it to be.
On the other hand, too many ignore the facts for what they are and suffer from cognitive dissonance and a normalcy bias, however, what is coming next should change all that. Tic tock, tic tock......

Align with the US and you will go down with them and the few western allies they have left.
The handwriting is on the wall - the West goes down while the East rises. US hegemony is about to come to an end and sooner rather than later.

Even if you are exempt from paying taxes on retirement/pension funds, they may still require you to file out another gxxdxxmn form(s) each year. It'll be just another way to track you and the assets you have.
Instead of making things easier for long-time expats they continue to find ways to do the opposite. Face it - they don't like farangs - they only like the money you pump into their economy. Time to head out and that's exactly what I plan to do as I think the best thing about Thailand will be leaving it.

Try reading my posts regarding the costs and my reasoning before making stupid figures up regarding costs!
Does the 7500 baht agent fee include the 1900 baht fee for the renewal visa?
-
So let's see. The visa fee is 1900 baht and someone is willing to pay

Look at the number of negative agent posts v positive posts in the various forums!
The majority seem to be against the use of agents on the assumption that those of us who use them legally are bypassing legal requirements rather than just spending our own money as we think best to get a better service and way of life!
I refer you to the public transport v limousine service analogy I posted earlier!
Curious. Does the 7500 paid to the agent include the 1900 baht annual fee or is that separate?

I've got an older Toyota that is putting out some not so cold air from the air con unit that I need to get checked out. Also, would like a reliable mechanic to do routine oil changes and maintenance as needed. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Actually not a hard decision. Either go with the country that will be on top going forward or the country that is totally broke, likes to start wars and is going down faster than the Titanic.

So for a 1000 baht value, you need to do an online transfer of 70 baht before you get your package. And what methods of payment are acceptable?
