Appreciate all the answers but please answer if you have any relevant information, I’ve been in a thailand long enough to know everything there is too know and am applying for citizenship based on all those facts, I know there’s a lot of Farangs who have dual nationality , could one of you kindly let me know how you dealt with the Renunciation part , also in case I haven’t made myself clear I plan on keeping both my canadian and Thai citizenship’s , the question is based on how people who have gotten Thai citizenship before and have kept their other nationality have managed to do so especially when they had to get the affidavit written at their respective embassies.

Look into the Canadian renunciation process. Im sure it has more steps than just wording on this letter.

You can write the letter as needed without completing the Canadian process.

However this letter can be used against you in thai courts if you do not follow through should a situation present itself regarding ownership of assets.

A mystery to me is why no Thai company has tried to locally produce and market natural puffed rice as a healthy breakfast cereal. You can buy a bag of the American product for about 109 baht. Obviously ridiculously expensive. Local producers could do it much cheaper but of course they would ruin it with sugar. Recently I bought the American product here on a two for one and I noticed that the Thai clerks were utterly fascinated at the product. They were examining it and talking about it. They could see it was rice, they could see it was imported, their minds seemed to blown that there was imported rice for sale in rice mecca Thailand. See my point?

I think I read it's possible to do this up to 45 days early at Chaengwattana? My first extension is due soon, permission to stay on my non o/a visa expires in mid October and I'd like to apply in September - will the 12 months extension be counted from the date of the application, or 12 months from the mid October date stamped in my passport?

I have UK embassy income letter, passport, TM7 - do they need photos showing address, map etc?

Will there be time if I go in the afternoon to get the retirement extension same day? This is probably easier to arrange than in the morning. Thanks.

Here is an excellent and recent post with all details.

I just did mine as well.

Map print out as well as hand draw.

    All copies in portrait mode.

If any address change, copy of that receipt.

    Check out the link.

I think at Cwattana, you can do it at 45 days. Double check as im not 100%

Extension is from day of expiration, not from day of extension.

I'd expect the summary and details I posted in yesterday's thread should be a pretty good basis for what Immigration at BKK CW is likely to expect.

But, it's also always good to be prepared, a lot of us bring extra things that we usually never need or use (like the home map, until yesterday).  Better to be prepared than get caught short by a request for something you don't have and have to make a return visit.

I always bring things like a copy of my home lease agreement, utility bills showing my name and home address, the home map, and monthly pension-bank statements to back up my consulate income affidavit. And I always scan the forum here in the days weeks before I go to CW just to see if any new wrinkles have cropped up since my last visit.

BTW, especially if this is going to be your first extension at BKK after having done elsewhere before, having docs with you that document and confirm your current residence location is probably a good safeguard, including your recent 90-day reporting slips, just as a precaution.

    Update: Aug 30 2018

All went well. Only one small thing I over looked

I had an address change earlier in the year and was told I needed to provide a copy of the receipt with the extension application. While IO was checking the papers I was able to run down and make a copy.

yes, several folks who've gone to BKK Immigration lately for retirement extensions have reported, including me in the thread above, that they've been asked to provide a map to their home. Member Pib had the same exact experience at CW a day earlier.

No big deal. The extensions officer yesterday handed my wife a blank sheet of paper and asked her to draw a map showing where our home is.  But I saved my wife from having to do that, as a I had pre-prepared map in my backup documents folder that they also were happy to accept.

The officer handling my paperwork said the home map deal is going to be an ongoing requirement at BKK for extensions....  No explanation of why, or if the maps request is also going to be something expanded to other Immigration offices.

Thanks for the very helpful post. I'll be going next week and hope there is no change from your experience. Cheers.

No you will not need them.

Also no medical certificate that Samui may of asked for.

If using the 800k baht option the bank letter can be no older than the day before the date you apply and bank book updated on the date you apply. Easy to do both on the same day at Chaengwattana immigration since there are branches of most banks on the ground floor of the building.

hi ubonjoe, i guess you've already read todays update post on this topic.

I'm posting link here in case someone wander to this thread.

Bangkok visa extention based on retirement requirement for Aug.2018

  7. Hello to all.

I'm renewing my retirement visa extension with wife (non thai) dependent.

    First extension was in Samui.

Did address change to Bangkok  and 90day reporting in Bangkok twice.

I have all the usual requirements from first extension in order, original marriage cert etc.

I want to know if I need photos, hand drawn maps, anything else? from my serviced apt?

    I'm hoping to avoid surprises?.

    Big thanks to everyone here.?

@Srinivas Most definitely you should. I got caught out when I tried to obtain a new passbook from a Bangkok Bank sub-branch in a local shopping mall near Rayong shortly after I had renewed my passport a few years ago. I was told to go to their main Rayong branch where I had opened the account in order to get my new passport number registered in the bank's systems before I could be issued with a new passbook. So, if your account is still with a bank branch in Samui, another exceedingly long trip back there from Bangkok MIGHT (and, I stress, MIGHT) be needed on your part.

Went to a Kasikorn branch in Bangkok, they updated to my new passport number.

I thought they might tell me to go to main branch too but ok so far?

In your situation, with the TM.28 and TM.30 done, I believe the Bangkok immigration office should have done the transfer of the extension to your new passport. Dereliction of duty on their part. Asking to talk to a superior official or calling the immigration helpline 1078 might have done the trick.

i mentioned it at the Samui office, the guy got a little angry and said sternly, loudly "  extension in surathani , have to transfer in surathani"

The superior official in bangkok was also stern about this. said it in a your problem not mine, "i will not accept 90 day report till you have this transfer"

i guess the address change means nothing.

I assume that you used to live in Samui but have recently moved to Bangkok. If so, have you yet filed a completed TM28 change of address report form at Chaengwattana? This needs to be done (if it hasn't already) before you can file 90-day reports and apply for new extensions of stay there.

Moreover, even though Chaengwattana don't enforce the TM30 requirement, I suspect that it might be prudent to provide them with this completed form as well. That said, I will happily defer on this particular point to those who are more familiar with the detailed procedures and requirements at Chaengwattana than I am.

Yes I moved to Bangkok 8 months ago and did the address change as well as tm30 to be on safe side. 90 ok so far. Thanks for the post.

Now im wondering if i have to update anything else immigration related with new passport number?

    banks!

There is no requirement to have a permanent address. You do need proof of more than a few days at an address within the area of responsibility of the office where you are applying for the extension of stay.

They want that so that people cannot just change to a different office to avoid problems that another one may of caused.

This is my first extension so I thought I would need lease agreement,  tabian baan, owner id again.

Would a one month of stay receipt be sufficient in Bangkok?  I want to make sure to dot every i and t.

I still have a few (5)months  before extension but I'm outside of Thailand and will be coming to take care of the extension.

Thanks to all for your help.
