  1. Hi

I'm 32, Male, 75Kg, non smoker, no prior health conditions, South African.

I live in Thailand under a NON-O (Thai child)

I've never gotten health insurance before and have no idea what ball park figures I should be looking at. I've seen some plans at like 5000 baht a year and some of what looks to be similar but at 50,000 a year.

I understand there are many different configurations but generally speaking is 2500 baht a month for say 10mil baht coverage with no outpatient or dental a normal ball park figure or is it too high.

    I'm open to recommendations.

I have a family, 2 kids and a Thai wife. They got offered similar figures.

I'm not looking for anything too fancy, I really just want to be covered if something happens to me and I have to go to hospital.

Apologies again. This is new to me.

    Regards

You can obtain non O based on parent of Thai child from inside Thailand.

You need to apply with 15+ days remaining on your visa exempt stamp.

    Which immigration office?

This thread has post from ubonjoe with useful links.

Both for non O and 12 month extension..

I currently live in Min Buri, Bangkok. So assuming Chaeng Wattana

  3. Hi there,

I am currently on a Visa Exempt (30 days left).

I have a Thai child (5 years old), mother passed away and I am the sole parent.

I am trying to get the Non-Immigrant O Visa (Thai Child) visa, it's my understanding that I have to apply and get the 3 month version first before applying for the 1 year extension.

Is it possible to apply for this initial 3 month within Thailand given that I have a month left in the country still? Or do I explicitly have to apply from outside the country (such as Laos)?

I have all the required documents and funds (400k in a Thai bank)

    Thanks for any advice

  4. Howdy,

I would like to travel to Vietnam with my family in the next month or so. I'm unsure on the visa requirements for me as a South African passport holder.
Some sites say there is visa exemption for all African countries, some say I need to go into an embassy and apply for the tourist visa there.

Has any South Africans been to Vietnam recently? What was your process?

    Thanks

  5. My wife passed away earlier this year.

I'm currently on a marriage visa that expires end of October. I'm going to assume I can't renew it. I'm 29 years old so retirement visa is out.
What other visa options do I have to stay in the country with my Thai daughter? She's 3 years old and me leaving the country right now would mean huge hurdles.

I don't have a Thai work permit. All my income is generated in a US bank account.
I have 75k a month coming in via international transfer to my Thai bank each month (if this helps).

    Thanks

You have to go to the immigration at the province where your wife is registered, and she has to go with you.

    Ok thank you.
She is indeed registered in Pathum Thani and we have done a 60 day extension there before, last year when my previous visa expired (same type). So all should be in order.

  7. I am a South African staying in Thailand with my Thai wife and 2 year old daughter.
I make an income through dividends from a business not based in Thailand.

I am on a NON-O based on marriage which expired in June. I went to my immigration office and they said not to worry and to come back around July 31st.

South Africa had around 10,000 cases yesterday. If I go back to South Africa, sort out my visa then come back to Thailand. What do I expect on arrival? Can I even come back at this time? Will I be stranded in South Africa away from my wife and child for an undetermined amount of time?

  8. In reference to 6.15 (attached)

Under patronage meaning to be supported, in regards to being a spouse does this mean you are exempt only if you are not the main supporter as in the case with say a foreign woman marrying a Thai where the foreign woman's support reliance financially isn't required to get the NON-O visa as the husband is considered the patronage.

Does this make sense or am I getting confused here and or does this matter.

  9. Just a warning for South Africans.

I went on Saturday (14th Sep) to Phu Nam Ron Kanchanaburi border with my intention to get a 90 day extension on my NON-O based on marriage.

Had a long back and forth with the Thai immigration side only to be told because of some political reasons all South African passport holders are being denied on the Myanmar side regardless if you are going for a NON-O extension or a tourist.

I was unable to go through the border and made my way to Bangkok to join a visa run service to Cambodia.

  11. Hi there lovely people of Thaivisa.

I am a South African passport holder, have a wife and child here in Thailand.

    27 Years of age.
I am currently living in Thailand under a NON-O Multi-Entry visa based on marriage.

My visa was issued on 5 Feb 2018 and expires on 4 Feb 2019.

My latest stamp from Phu Nam Ron has an Admitted Until 23 JAN 2018

The following paths come to mind and I'm not 100% sure which to take.

    1) I go to Phu Nam Ron for a visa run as usual before 23 JAN 2018
        - If I do this how many days will they give me on a new stamp?
    2) I go back to Savanakhet instead of going to Phu Nam Ron before 23 JAN 2018 and apply for another 1 year long Multi-Entry

    3) I have an average passive income coming into my Thai bank account from Australia that's above 40,000 baht per month
        - Can I skip 1, 2 and go straight to an immigration office and apply for a renewal of my NON-O?

Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.
