Now all they need to do is allow tourists into the country ???? but somehow this seems unlikely too happen when you have a "prime minister" who openly says he doesn't want them ????
What are you talking about? Prayut loves tourists...as long as they are chinese!

As a side note...Norway reduced quarantine to 7 days today...if you test negative twice after arrival. Except if you come from the UK, then its still 10 days. Not getting my hopes up for Thailand doing that though...

president of Pfizer won't even take the vaccination. Tells me all I need to know. about taking it right now.
The PM and the Health Minister of Norway wont take it either, even though the PM is 60 and fat as a house. Way to go forward as an example, eh? Tells me everything too.

We are leaving for Thailand on the 7th of january. I just knew some <deleted> would happen. Aaaaaarrgh ???? Feel free to blame me, it's my usual bad luck!

If they start mass testing as we do in Europe, all hell will break loose. More people will die from lockdown and mass non-employment than from the "deadly" virus. If it wasn't for the media and internet, we would just think it was an especially bad flu. Oh how i miss the days before the Internet...and I mean it! Everything is just too accessable now, more bad info then good. The Internet is being used to create mass hysteria. But maybe a little too late to shut it down... ????

Nope, inflation. Tell US and EU nations to stop printing money. They are making their own money less valuable. Baht is naturally stronger because Thailand isn't printing money
Well...my non-EU country is not printing money. And our currency has still heavily weakened against the Baht during the last 5 years or so. Bottom solid finances, negligable foreign debt...but still the Baht outperforms it.

That is not "the true story". It is one theory that has been popularised, but people who actually represent the groups you mention have debunked it. They put more blame on the fact that they live in crowded conditions and found it very difficult to separate young from old, infected from uninfected. And of course there are more issues.
Well i listen more to people who right in the middle of it, than political correct explanations. Of course they have "debunked" it, what did you expect.

Sweden is under an international travel ban for destinations outside EU until mid November. I think it’s something similar for the other Scandinavian countries. No word yet as to whether the ban will be lifted in November.
I dont know about Sweden now, but Norway does not have a travel ban. Only an advisory. Travel wherever you want, but you get a 14 days quarantine when you back. And travel insurances is void for corona related incidents, so you need to buy a separate insurance for that.

Sweden's death rate per million population is right up there with the US and Brazil, 580. Thailand's is 0.8. But let's not allow facts to get in the way of the propaganda of the anti-mask brigade. Or a tourist authority that is so desperate for visitors it is holding its collective nose.
Read my post #82 please.

As a result, their per capita death toll from CV in Norway and other nearby Nordic countries is magnitudes smaller than the per capita death toll in Sweden.
I will tell you something that the media do not. There is a very specific reason for that. I have family in Sweden (as all Norwegians do lol), and they have first hand knowledge about this. Sweden has had a massive influx of immigrants the last 20 years or so, and especially since 2015. What happened was, that a lot of these got a job in the health care sector, and mostly in old peoples home care facilities. Now, the majority of these people were never met with any demands of any sort, so they did not bother learning the countrys language. They worked, could only understand their home language, or in best case some very basic English. So when corona hit, they had no idea what was happening, and they infected thousands of those old people, before the Swedish Government understood what was happening. They later issued corona material and advice in their native languages, but it was too late.
This is the true story of the massive deaths per capita in Sweden, and you will never hear it in main stream media. And im not trying to place blame, just stating facts. It could easily have been us, if we did not have had a stricter immigrant policy, with language demands.

The lockdown was done on grounds that it was a new an unknown virus, and it turned out of course that there were no need for that. All the schools opened again in april/may. And there has not been much covid amongst pupils after the openings. You will always get some...but pandemic levels...no.

This is off topic. I just want to say that we NEVER used masks in Norway. Not in stores, not on public transports, nowhere. If you wanted, you could of course. But very few did. And things are going just fine, 267 dead with a mean age of 82. Not that that is a good thing, but the life expectancy in Norway is...yes you guessed it. 82! So people are actually dying with covid, not from it. Except from some few cases of course, which the media is especially keen on dragging onto the front page for scare mongering. The last flare ups have been because some venues, and very localized. So if you take off those 3 or so flare ups, which is now under control, the graph would be as flatlined as my long dead grandmother, rest her soul. I pity you guys from Australia and other countries where they stripped you of your basic human rights. Its a criminal act, and I hope the responsible for it will pay.
On topic: Not one single tourist from atleast here, that I know of, will take 2 weeks quarantine. Expats only.

They want the tourists back but if they let them in and they get infections spreading then the public will be angry and then they'll just have to shut it all down again. So nothing achieved. Plus if any tourists come they may need to also do 14 days in their home countries on return, never gonna happen.
I am anti-vaccine, but seems the Russians have one that seems to work (so far at any rate), perhaps buying that is a solution, and then open. Either that or they are just going to have to wait till it burns out, when that will be is an unknown, some signs suggest it may be in a few months, but again that could be way wrong.
Think the best they can get are long term expats wanting to return, but of course they aren't the tourism related big spenders.
Dilemma...well when did they ever care about what the public think? Hasn't happened before, so why now? This is crazy times for sure...healty people get isolated and their civil rights taken away from them, because a miniscule number may get seriously ill. Instead of isolating the risk groups, and let the rest live as normal. This has nothing to do with the virus, this is power that the politicians only dreamt about before. Now that they have that power, they will not give it up easily. And people accept it, as the sheep they are. Scared out of their wits because media wants to sell the news. What a world it has become.

Its all Aussie <deleted>. My mate's partner lay in a Buriram hospital dying from spinal cancer aged 25. He was refused permission to leave the country to see her, and later on again refused permission to attend her funeral. But recently we see that a very rich businessman was giver permission to go to Europe to pick up his new luxury yacht.
Jesus...I thought Australia was a democracy...you have a flight ban out of the country??? ????

Of course no one really knows just yet, but this was today
Not a chance in hell of a total lockdown. Europe understands now that they cannot destroy their economy over a virus that has a lethality of about 1%. Unlike Prayut and his muppets. Local restrictions only. Even if Macron says otherwise.
