Also, do they need an onward ticket, or is that not important at the Thai embassy in Hanoi?
We will be flying out of BKK, but we cannot say when right now, so cannot buy a flight as yet.
Cheers

Hello,
We are heading back to the UK soon but need to spend some time in Bangkok first but might need a couple of months there, so a visa is necessary.
So anyway, given the above, we went to Vientiane to get her a Thai visa, but like alot of other people we met, we found out you now need an appointment which can take 2 weeks + to get.
So we have booked the nearest appointment for just over 2 weeks away and crossed into Vietnam at the Cau Treo border as her days in Laos were coming to an end. We are now in Vinh.
So my questions ;
How easy is it to get a Thai visa in Vietnam?
(SEA citizen)
Say Hanoi for example?
We are currently in Vinh of all places.
Do you have to also book an appointment for the Hanoi Thai consulate?
Would they require her to show proof of funds at the Thai consulate in Hanoi?
Would cancelling the appointment in Vientiane cause a problem for a Thai visa application in Hanoi?
Just thinking about our options given that we are also waiting for a meeting date in Bangkok.
Cheers

I have a load of baht and am on my way to Laos so will be in need of kip.
Kip is a soft currency relatively speaking right?
So i should change the baht inside Laos right?
Cheers

No, there job is to check tourists have been registered, not to interrogate innocents on holiday.
Yeah,
That's the way i see it.
All that's needed is a quiet word with the hotel owner who can show them that the person has been registered on their phone.
All sign in books for hotels have "1000 baht fine" written on them if its incorrectly or partially filled, so in most cases i dont see the need to be hassling tourists IF they have already been shown the registry form online.

A group of about 8 to 10 of them walked into the hotel reception yesterday.
Surprised to find out they come around the hotels everyday.
Is it now normal for them to be questioning tourists sat in hotel receptions?
Havent been here awile.

I advise you to pick it up on Monday.
A member had his visa canceled because he failed to pick up his passport on the designated day.
Thanks again ubonjoe.
Will do.

Have myself a hammock, but would like to buy one for the girlfriend and i need a mozzie net for mine.
Do they sell them with built in mozzie nets here? Or can you buy nets specifically for hammocks, no modifications needed?
Better buying a seperate net?
Also, any opinions on which hammocks are the best to look for, and can you buy the long 11-12ft "double" ones.
Weight is an issue.
Thanks

Hello,
My girlfriend yesterday, put in her application for thai tourist visa at the Vientiane thai embassy.
Obviously they are closed over the weekend. We are travelling on bikes and our Laos visas finish on the 29th, and are getting itchy feet and would like to do a little loop back to Vientiane.
Is it ok to pick up her passport so long after applying, or not advisable?
Thanks

Cheers for that. Great news.
We crossed from Thailand to Cambodia at Had Lek in Feb. Is there a limit on border crossings per year for Thailand?

Hello, we are travelling by bicycle and i really dont want to fly unless absolutely necessary.
We would like to cross from Vientiene into Thailand together, but i know from experience that for her (myanmar) to get a thai visa they require a bank statement, and the 14 day visa exemption is only available if flying.
Is there any way around this?
-
Well, i've been trying to convince her to fly rather than overland it, but she's not having it so looks like we are getting her a visa. Just dont make sense spending 60 bucks on a visa rather than flying, but she wins.
One thing we had with one travel agent here is that she told us they needed a bank statement. I'd rather not be giving them my bank statement. Do you think a copy of our receipt of the place we booked in Thailand would suffice, or do they generally not need anything?

Normally not needed at immigration but the airline could ask for ticket out of the country within 14 days.
Cheers,
You know if for some strange reason she did have a problem entering at a Bangkok airport with no visa, could she just get a thai visa at Thai immigration in the airport?
-
Fantastic stuff. Cheers for that.
If we fly, would the Thai Immigration require a return/outbound flight ticket for her?

Hello,
My Burmese girlfriend and i are in Cambodia and plan to travel to Thailand, spending under 2 weeks there in all.
All the helpful agents here in Cambodia say she doesn't need a tourist visa because of ASEAN etc, but i'm not so sure due to past experience.
Been trying to call the Thai embassy in Phnom Penh all morning, but no awnser.
Your help on this matter much appreciated.
