Yes sir, i reported him at the servicedesk in the grand palace and suddenly the girl behind the counter couldn't speak english anymore....serious.

And when we came out of the palace (we didn't take that longtailboat trip cause it was very expensive so we walked back to the palace which was just open all day so he lied to us) i saw him again, he just opened another taxi to tell them the palace was closed.

I wanted to tell him my thoughts but my wife stopped me but me and my father would have loved to tell him the truth....dutch style (which means without being polite). My wife said he is a gangmember from the maffia and he's doing that for many years.

I wonder if that girl were the sister of our village manager. Here, some of them have a 24th pair of chromosome -LE chromosome.

Footnote:- LE Chromosome programs the organism to lie in the most eloquent way that puts Pinocchio to shame

Withheld judgment? This is a predominately Buddhist country, right?

    1. They like to be portrayed as a buddhist country

    2. buddhism cannot cure stupid, until one decides that one has a responsibility to self

This amazing quality of  illogical way of processing information but later completely smart in wrapping the stupidity with fancy ribbons. I mean if someone tries to bash Somchai on the head with a helmet, i doubt he would 'withheld judgement' and willingly be attacked. Having said that, more vicious are those balless bystanders who so wisely do nothing.

I just saw the video on stickboys website, why didn't anybody help the old man back on his bike?

Yeah it was a dumb accident but the old guy also didn't stop when the motocy fell on the road.

These collectors shouldn't be on the road in a very busy city, and men from 82 shouldn't have to work at all..

Did you also notice in the video the old man could hardly even move his vehicle?

I'm divorced. No one would be envious of our last 2 years.

She was lovely at the start though. At the end she had no positive traits, unless abuse became one.

Im sorry to reind of of those unhappiness. Life has so much more to offer whether we are in a relationship!

That only works if they are prepared to talk about differences. Mine wasn't. I thought we did, but she lied.

I should have drunk more beer instead of getting married. I'd have been happier.

Dude, you never know. Since you are already married, try to focus on her positive traits. Sometimes humans tend to get bored/dissatisfied with life after some enjoyment of comfort. Im sure there must be something good abt her. My prev comment was just ranting. Just ask some unmarried old men and they would be entirely envious of you and your family.

My wife (40, well educated teacher) got moody with me for a few days as I asked her to put the baby to bed at 11.30 pm as I wanted to see something on the TV before bed !

But she usually comes round a day or so later.

Sometimes I wonder if they are like this rather than confront the issues as they still worry about their ex clocking them one before and fear the same.

Just out of curiosity , if you are married to a lady and evening willing to have a family and raise kids together, shouldnt it be logical that you  have a heart to heart conversation to iron out differences and to understand some of their cultural background? Marriage baffles me most of the time. Beer preferred.

Yes here is, but it's also possible to buy fake stickers, and fake documents to present at the gov't office to renew the annual road tax in the vehicle blue book.

I'm aware of a case, several years back where the fake sticker / documents team were asking people outside the renewals office in Chonburi is they wanted to buy fake sticker / document.

The crap that happens on a daily basis never fails to amaze. Its like Bart Simpson in real life. However, considering how responsibly they drive and how shamelessly they flick off responsibility when their ignorance caused an accident, how would they decide which kind of insurance they need? How would they ascertain which is a reliable or genuine insurer?

No. It's the law which always in Thailand supports the wrongdoer. If this driver was named in an article that suggests he was drunk he can sue for damaging his reputation. Just another aspect of the lunatic asylum that is Thailand.

Yet another Thai logic. If news report him as drink driving, it should be a result of the journalist having obtained a record of the breathalyzer. I guess somchai could crash into the newstation  if he is upset with the tainted reputation.Same like the fire at Pattaya Walking Street. A few hours later they concluded it was due to  transformer. Do they even know what a forensic expert is?

Here's a thought. How about putting decent transformers in place and leave the rest as it is. The beach being an exception.

would you be surprised if they install exactly the same  make of transformer again because they didnt know what went wrong in the first place and thinking if its a new one then all is safe. if no forensics are examining the place then how do we really know there are no other underlying problems?

in Western countries we have a bunch of local rules/laws planning building. In TH there is none of that. Its not a criticism, just the difference in thinking, and that "everything will get solved".  No pre emptive thinking.

I live in Pattaya in one of the new high rise buildings. Just this complex is 1000 apartments at Soi2. Electricy: the first year we had power outages at least once a week.  The last month the transformator for this grid exploded. TWICE.

The sewer problem is because of this. Erecting 50000 new condos in Pattaya in a 5 year term and no new infrastructure = electricity, communication and sewer problems. Maybe politicians should deal with this instead of making Walking Street "clean"?

Its a matter of planning and using resources right.

(Culture differences. Again: no disrespect but more of a funny reflection.  I take a motorbike taxi. He drives wrong way one way street. He takes shortcuts on walkways. If something happens. Its lord Buddha's will.  The person is not responsible. That mentality is the sewer problem. Its a great mentality 90% of life, but please add some boring Germanic planning/ordning. Love this country. Love the way of life. I just want it to be better for us all)

I just learnt something today 2 words which are completely non existent in their vocabulary, namely Technology and Planning.  Some months ago, our village often face power outage, each time spanning from several hours to half a day.  I asked the village manager to find out from the relevant department why the outage have been getting more regular these days. The stories they come up with are better than trashy sitcoms. "the motorbike accident with the pole' or another time 'the branch fall on the wire'. I dont know but they sound like tall stories. At some point of time I got really mad. Even in the poorest of poor Bihar, the hotels and restaurants have a backup generator which actually work without causing fire hazard. If the Germans refused to share some 19th century town planning strategies, they could always work with Bihar, could be cheaper and they share much similarities in culture.

I worked on a garbage power plant in Holland (commissioning a 18Megawatt turbo alt).Nothing was wasted ,the garbage was sorted automatically into plastics ,metal and organic materials. So at the back end of the plant the organic material was stockpiled and became fertiliser, all the metal was sold as scrap and the rest was burned in the furnace and generated Electricity. This was back in 1994 and lots of plants like this have been built so it should be perfectly feasible to build the same here.Oops this is Thailand!!!!!

If you ever suggest anything like that to them, they would get angry and flustered. Reason being technology is a word unheard of and all those strange concepts must be something you made up to make them lose face. Where I live, the village has 35 town houses. None of them have a mailbox. Somchai does not know how to handle registered mail either.Their face showed surprise when we moved in and asked for a proper mailbox after some mail were mishandled. A mailbox , just like any other technology, is completely unheard of!
