So ... do we know now if this is a troll or not? The story is just unbelievable.

In Thailand there is death penalty on rape ... 90% or more of all rape victims get killed/murdered.

Why is it unbelievable? ... because my daughter, me and my husband still alive??? That’s because we flew just in time both times.

And because when my husband and I was hiding in a hotel-suite in Bangkok waiting for our flight time back to Norway and my lawyer sent me text at Line and messenger for tried to make me take a flight to Surat Thani and promised he would pick me up at airport with police security and that I could stay in a safe-house at police station in Surat Thani until our case was finish in court... I start thinking about all stories I read at  samui times and i understood that koh tao is in same province my lawyer is from and I start research at internet and find out that my lawyer have many police officer friends from the photos in foreigner victims at koh Tao  (incl big joke) so I didn’t tell my lawyer the name of hotel we stayed in Bangkok and not let him know the day + our time for flight so he probably believed I would call him from Thailand when I answered him I would call him early morning next day because he was very upset and almost threatened me when he understood I was in Norway when I contacted him.

If my daughter and I didn’t flew before court date in February I’m sure they would kill us... and if I didn’t lied to my lawyer I’m sure they would kill us. We was lucky, that doesn’t mean I’m a troll so shame on you! ????

I feel so sorry for him -

does the Norwegian couple know? Or their government?

Might be a good idea for someone to inform them.

Maybe somebody can send this OP to the Norwegian embassy? Norwegians! Please! Honors alone do not feed his family.

Another way: Gofundme with an honest person to manage that the money goes to the right place, best by monthly instalments

I will try to find a way to let the couple know ????

Care to provide some proof of these numerous "examples" (links, etc)? I have lived in Thailand for 8 years, and I recall only one instance of Thais being arrested for using underage prostitutes.

So you belive it’s only in the one you recall this things really happens?

After living 8 years in Thailand I’m sure you must admit this is not the only one? ????????‍♀️????????

  6. I comment this topic before and like I said last time, I’m Norwegian my self and I can’t understand how you guys can believe his notes a list for magic tricks or suicide?!? Because some of the quotes back to me sounds like their his good friends I accepted their reasons around the crazy paper-notes and that he probably died happy because he did something he loved to do!

But, to day I read the story in a Norwegian newspaper and that made me so angry ???? I’m sick of you people that blame the foreigners for death, crime etc. in Thailand, I have asked before and I ask again:

Do the police pay this guys for answering/writing comments that protect Thailand, the police, governors etc. or what’s going on???

This man was shot in his face, he was injured many places and it was a lot of blood at both him and in the area... last 6 months he had a lot of problems with Thai police and other Thai people because he earned good money... and we all know that jealousy & money is a very good reason for a Thai person to kill.

How the f... can so many of you guys protect and support corrupt police officers that don’t give this man and all other foreigners-victims in Thailand the justice they and their family deserve???

I dont know wich europe you mean but in no real european country 16 and 17 years old is adult they might act like an adult but it starts from 18 and even then i think their not realy adults and my geuss is that you are not in your twenty's so every girl umder the age of 20 could be your doughter would you aprove it then still and call her an adult

    In Norway the law is:

From age 13 you are aloud to work and earn money but not more then 12 hours pr week.

From age 15 is aloud to put criminal children in prison

And at same age (15) you can work 40 hours pr week if it not destroy the child focus/energy in school

Sex is aloud from age 16

From 18 years you are adult and your parents don’t decide of their child anymore

From 18 years can buy beer & wine and be bartender in restaurants/night club with limit 18 year

From 20 year can buy alcohol with higher %  and also bartender etc in places with limit 20

Heres a list of reputable lawyers in Thailand that are actually recommended by the Norway government:

    https://www.norway.no/contentassets/6a08c56c09b6458db3fc8c4478a54f46/advokater-i-thailand.pdf

As a general rule, always use a big international lawfirm that has lawyers in europe/usa/australia and in thailand, never ever go to a thai province lawyer.

Don't even bother searching for a lawyer outside of Bangkok - Bangkok is the place to find a good lawyer.

From that list i know only Baker and McKenzie, they have offices in most countries  - thats usually a good sign.

I would contact them and see what they are saying.

Thanks for answering and wanne help us????????

You mean this is Lawyers recommended from the government I live in? Or the same list Norwegian Embassy jn Bangkok have on their list?

My problem right now is HOW I can trust a lawyer again? Our case can be transferred to Bangkok next year, but the guys threatened us 2 times before court-date have contacts/corrupt friends from south to north of Thailand so the chance for they will threaten us for the 3.time is BIG ???? And I read the story about the young Norwegian girl died in diving-accident, her parents paid a lot to lawyers that is not thai but have Thai lawyer authority and their lawyer backing of few days before court ????

so f..... hard to trust anyone:(

Nothing wrong with most of them. But then I stay far away from places like Ao Nang and Beach Road.

Hi, can you please let me know why you stay away from plages like AoNang?

My interest is because i traveled many times every year with my family to AoNang and february this year my daughter get raped in AoNang (a local bartender) and I flew the country with my daughter in February because we get more and more threatened every day close to date of court so we escaped 1.5 day before court and this month my husband and I flew again because some Thai guys gun pointed him outside the hotel we stayed in and told him to take me out of the country that night if not hey will kill us... court date was 13. November in Krabi and we escaped 9. November ???? so no happy ending and justice for my daughter and the only way for me to punish back is to warn others about AoNang and hopefully make the police understand they should have protected us and not fight against us together with the bad drug dealers that work in the bar she get raped inside!

I don't know how this began and what happened in procedures of the case you refer too or whether Thai lawyer was experiences in matters of the case.

The following is an overview of what you ask.

Criminal laws are the rules that apply when someone commits a crime, such as assault, robbery, murder, arson, rape and other kinds of crimes. After a person is arrested and charged with a crime, that person goes to a Criminal Court.

Civil law refers to almost all other disputes—these are the rules that apply when one person sues another person, a business or agency.  This can cover a housing case such as for eviction or foreclosure, a family case such as divorce or custody, consumer problems such as debt or bankruptcy, or when someone sues for money because of damage to property or personal harm.  All of these cases go to a Civil Court.

The judges in criminal and civil court have different powers.  Criminal Court judges can punish you for breaking the law by sending you to jail. Civil Court judges can order you to pay money or a fine, or make decisions about your family or your home.

    Thanks for answering ????

This mean our lawyer lied to me because lawyer knew that our main goal was to put rapist in jail, not to get his money.

Money don’t give safety & justice! Put him in jail for protecting other young girls and make him suffer in jail give safety & justice.

I think your best bet would be to involve your countries media to put pressure on your countries embassy in Thailand.

  12. BritManToo, I can read you have many strong (and strange) comments in this topic. You continue arguing about Thai laws etc. but you still hasn’t answered my simple questions... you out of words or you finally start thinking before speaking?

I asked you what’s the difference between holiday in AoNang many times every year + in same time help animals and holiday for example one time every year + in same time help animals.... holiday in same place many times doesn’t mean you still tourist?

By the way, if your daughter see profile-photo you choosed to ThaiVisa Forum I believe you she will loose some of her respect to dad!

  13. On 11/21/2018 at 1:42 AM, BritManToo said:

Respectable Thai girls don't go in bars, the first night she will be alone with a man will be her wedding night.

If she went in a bar, breaking the law and the instructions of her parents, whatever happened would be her own fault.

    So what you say is:

IF your daughter was in a bar and she get raped,

(I know you pointed that YOUR daughter don’t go to Bar/night club that’s why I write IF your....) you wouldn’t fight for give her justice and put the rapist in prison because it’s her own fault?

  14. 21 minutes ago, BritManToo said:

You're completely wrong, I have a 19-year-old daughter if police found her in a bar (not staff) the fine is 20,000bht and a night in jail for her.

The bar have a similar fine and lose their licence. The law is there to protect teens from the dangers of bars.

Extract from John Stapleton's book published 2016 about bars  around Samui.

'Violent sexual assaults and robberies against both men and women are reported regularly in the Koh Samui archipelago and Krabi province. These are particularly common during the monthly Full Moon parties and generally occur late at night near bars.'

And if your 19 year old daughter go to a bar with friends, don’t buying alcohol, and getting raped when she go for find toilet alone you will blame who?

And by the way, you didn’t answered my quote at your comment from yesterday,,,

  15. Hi, I’m wondering if someone can help me explain the difference between a civil and a crime case in court?

If a lawyer writes in documents that the person he’s representing and have all the power of authority to fight for give justice is a victim of rape, threatening etc. That the victim must flew the country because of threats and more text for proof the victim suffering. The lawyer also wrote that the defendent should pay the victim 5 million bath and that lawyer get 10% of this, can this still be a civil case in court?

The Lawyer have copy of all signed reports/statements from victim  to local tourists police and province tourist police earlier this year, lawyer also have dna result + lawyer has read statement that the defendant give police earlier this year.

The thing I don’t understand is:

if a lawyer have all this information and tell us he can take this case in court alone (without the plaintiff/victim) but 2 days before court said his Lawyer company is not aloud to take crime case alone so the plaintiff/victim must come to court, if it was a civil case lawyer could do it alone he text me... what happened? Can’t be possible that the lawyer didn’t know this! This lawyer have a big authority in his home-province and he also work for the government in that province (not same province all this bad happened to us) so I can’t believe he didn’t know the rules about civil or crime case in his own company and when I asking him what happened, why he changed he don’t answer me ???? so I still wonder ?!?

    It's against the law.

Laws on underage drinking are there to protect the underaged.

But your family weren't tourists, you said you had been many times to help dogs.

You have no excuse for not knowing the laws or the dangers of the Thai islands.

    As for reading news .......

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/travel/travel_news/article-2833369/Thailand-one-dangerous-tourist-destinations-Earth-Ex-pat-investigation-lifts-lid-dark-Land-Smiles.html

"He also says that the death rate among tourists, which he claims often goes unrecorded, is ‘the worst scandal in the annals of modern tourism’."

Sorry to ask but what’s your point?

You mean it’s my daughter mistake that she get raped because she enter a bar when she’s underage? ...or me because I’m her mom and that i aloud her to go? What about owner and the staff in bar’s/nightclubs, are they not responsible for controlling age of their guest? I just wonder because I don’t understand the meaning behind your comments to me!

YES, we been in AoNang 16 times from December 2011 and if we not are tourists what do you mean we are when we travel to Thailand? And what’s your point about that comment? Do you believe all people that travel many times to same country/city read news for that area? I’m Norwegian and I don’t even read or watching Norwegian news but because I know the language I’m kind of updated anyway... from friends talking, radio etc.

And for make you understand what I mean:

The crime (rape & threats) that happened to us in February this year was BEFORE I started read Thai news, the crime (murder threats with gun) that happened in November this year and AFTER I start Thai news... so things happen anyway boy! So I’m NOT trying to excuse, rape happens everywhere but I’m trying to make people that don’t know how easy you can get in trouble! You understand me or not?

Have you gone out in Norwegian media with this VG/ Dagbladet ?? Very important so others can see this sad story and be warned against and travel to the area. It happened many rapes and murders there, and finally no one can rely any lawyers and police in Thailand.

Hi , yes Dagbladet interview me to day so I suppose it will come in short time ???? I AGREE with you about sharing for warning.
