  1. Yes,  they will but are reluctant to do so without good reason.   I had to have my 11 1/2 year old boy put to sleep last year and it was hard.   11 years old is old for a dog,   some smaller breeds can live 12 to 15 years,  but in general bigger breeds are getting old at 11 years.   Good plan would be to get a good vet to check her out in the first place,  maybe a simple Op to give her a few more years,  but the loss of appetite is not a good sign,   good luck,

  2. Heijoshincool asked if there are any Canine Contests in Thailand.   The answer is yes,  there are certainly pure bred dog show competitions which are run by KATH  -  Kennel association of Thailand.  Not happening at the moment because of covid,   however, under normal conditions they generally conduct 2 show weekends each month.  Contact details for KATH as per below.

These all breeds/pure bred competitions are judged by local Thai judges and also many international judges are also invited, from as far as European countries, the US, Australia etc.  The quality of many of the dogs at these shows is generally "world class",  with many of the dogs "imported" or flown in from other Asian countries especially for these events.

Thailand boasts some of the best dogs in the world in a number of breeds,  notably Pomeranians, TRD and the Bangkaew Dog.   These latter 2 breeds are local breeds and now recognized by the FCI.

As for the dog belonging to the Op,   a Border Collie/Aussie Shep cross, extremely intelligent and very agile and athletic, would be ideal for pursuits such as Agility contests and I am sure these exist in Thailand,   in fact I have seen them run in conjunction with the pure breeds all breeds shows.   So if the Op or other interested members liked to contact KATH I am sure they could provide further information,

  3. Mike k,   I am not sure where you live  -   if in a larger city look around for a Vet who is willing to euthanize your dog.   If your dog is genuinely suffering this is the humane thing to do.

I bred and exhibited show dogs in Australia for many years,   and have sadly had to have this done a number of times over the years.    In fact just 2 or 3 weeks ago had to have my old 11 1/2 year old put to sleep.    It is very quick and the humane solution if your dog is suffering.

It is true that in general the Vets here are not keen on doing this   -   but some of the younger ones understand that at times this is sadly the best option.   Good luck.

  4. I have had a TEFAL for a year or 2,   bought it at Robinsons, Central Mall, Udon Thani.   It is very good   -    I normally spray just a little olive oil on whatever I am going to cook.   For roast potatoes I cut them to size first,   then boil them,   then brown them off in the deep fryer.   Great stuff!

  5. Many thanks for posting on this subject.    Many are going through the same process or about to.   The air ticket out of Thailand is valuable information.

I am also in Udon,   and yes, my information from IO UT is that they will convert to non immig O via the correct process.

Peter Denis or Ubon Joe   -   can you please post the "update of the current roadmap" to convert from O-A to non imm O for retirement,

    With thanks,   Davut.

  6. Oh dear,  can someone clarify this one please.

My understanding is that "health Insurance" is only needed for new O-A visa after 31 October 2019 to gain entry into Thailand.   And,   for those who are currently on "extensions" (and started with 0-A) health insurance is not required at this time?

This gentleman who is 80 yrs (sirwilly) has no chance of getting health insurance in Thailand from what I have read.

Perhaps Ubon Joe can clarify this one?

  7. Yes,    he meant that there was a letter to give "leniency" for the first extension after the new rules.    However, it seems this is not going to happen at some places.   This is for the 65,000 baht per month system.

Udon Thani Immig (for example) requires a full 12 months of transfers.    I went to UTH Immig last Friday    -   for the information of those who use UTH IO they require 800,000 baht for 2 months prior to application of extension,   and it must be in your Thai bank account via a bank transfer from overseas.

So the IO I spoke to told me.
