You say you need go back to USA for the 60 day? Don't follow that. You can obtain setv anywhere outside los.

As for border crossings I like Vientiane because I'm a fan of Udon Thani and flights from there to bkk good.

For setv (depending on your detailed history) I love Saigon. Good consulate. Very few people and Bui Vien district 1 is a ripper for all ages. Being USA you need visa but do it online.

Thanks for this. That is what I was looking for Doctor.

Yes, AU used to have visa think 90 day to visit someone in los. However that was stopped many years back. Was not aware USA provided what you now have.

    Back to your OP....

Have you used your 2 visa exempt border entries per calendar year. If not you can used them and extend each one by 30 days. That's 4 months for a start which takes you into 2020.

Think with any setv your at that stage best to obtain at border and enter via land. Denied at bkk airports has been happening for folk with repeat visas and visa exempt with shortish time out of los.

I have only used one....then I got the 90 day.

I plan on flying somewhere for a short weekend. Last thing I want is to be turned away. I have seen the stories about being denied, that is why I am asking.

Now last year I did at least four trips here, but they were short...like ten days each. And that was last year.

i would like to try to get another 60 day, but I think I have to go back to the states for that.

    Best land crossing?

  3. I have never been denied, but I am fearful of next time.

For 2019 I have been here for one visit of 32 days...got a 30 day and a 30 day extension for that visit.

Currently on a 90 day visa I got in Hawaii. It is a Non O, and 90 days because my Thai GF was there with me...otherwise it would have been 60.

This expires Oct 20...which leaves about 70 days left in the year...over what appears to be over the 180 days they are targeting.

I plan on making a visa run, or a trip out of the country around Oct 15...

I make an entry around Oct 20ish. Would like to stay as long as I can....suggestions?

I do see one issue with this. I think in general this sort of thing does not interest immigration but if on retirement extensions using an income method rather than the full 800k bank account method its possible that they may ask about the income source. Especially as it will likely vary year to year. So if it varies much they'll be able to tell its not a standard pension. So I would be somewhat concerned about that. It's not as if they are actively trying to smoke out cases like this but it's possible if they do ask that question and it's answered honestly then they would have to think about what to do. You never want that.

That concern could be avoided by using the 800k bank account method.

That pretty much sums up my question....could I use that income for the retirement visa. Consensus here says do not make it complicated, shut up, keep moving.

  5. I am 51, and still working for a US company, based in the US. I have no business in Thailand at all, but I work from home...meaning I am on the computer, conference calls, etc....but all back to the US.

The retirement visa says no work allowed.....does this just mean in Thailand? Would this pass the test of no work for the retirement visa?

I do service work on heavy industrial work in the US, Europe, Taiwan, and Mexico. So when I work I travel to the plants I service.

  6. Online dating has changed in the last 5 years. I am an American I would date all the time, eventually find a GF. But now it seems American woman are full of attitude, and have like 100 men giving them that attention...I gave up for the most part. MGTOW..

I started coming to Thailand a few years ago. Did the Pattaya thing twice. Go-Go;s, discos, etc. Had a LT and found that was way better than ST's

So I decided to actually seek out a "real" girl to see what happens. Went on to Thaifriendly, which is full of working girls. Weeded out a lot...and the pictures are mostly not that accurate. Found many looking for money, etc.

Eventually I met a Thai woman who is amazing. She is a salesperson for a large industrial company in Bangkok. She is 15 years younger than me. Has the Thai culture thing going with the family, and supporting her family. I was there for a month living together as a trial...a test to see how she really lives. I had my doubts, but I am convinced she is a "real" girl.

Heading back to Bangkok for another month...heading to Krabi to do some diving. We are getting scuba certified this year.

There are real woman online, hard to find, but they are there.

  7. They are all being pretty rough on this guy. You are both being played here....but thats part of the relationship thing right.

I am happily with a real Thai girl...although we are in Bangkok, and Pattaya is just suspect as to what the town is famous for.

I pay for everything...as I am more well off than she is. She has a great job here, and supports her family. I have made it clear that I will not support her family, but I intend on paying her way. She is by no means a bar girl, nor ever has been.

I find the true Thai culture very conservative. The different cultures are shocking, as I feel Thais pay there parents back, while the western culture the parents pay the kids way. This is playing out culturally in the lack of western ambitions with the generation.
