  1. I can see that this might concern you, it did worry me for some time but on one of the many forms you will have to fill out it asks you' where you will be quarantineing your animals' and there is a small box below the line you have to fill in which states 'at home' tick this and you will have no problem. Just make sure you have all your paperwork correct and you will be able to take your dog home with you.

I too am traveling with my dog for a threem onth stay in BKk while I attend care at Bumrungrad. Any accomodations you know of in the sukhumvit area taht allows 40kg dogs. And, if I check of the "at home" option of where i am Qing my dog, but am staying at a hotel can I get away with it or do they require proof of address or some other factor that will disqualify me from Qing my dog with me at my hotel when and if I find one!

This site is great I've been researching dozens of hours and have found more info here in two hours than 40 elsewhere. thanks

  2. Hello all -

My first post here - so be nice to the newbie. :o I'll be arriving in Thailand in mid-July or August from Alaska with 3 cats and 1 fiancee. From lurking around the board, I understand that housing is pretty pet-friendly, so I'm not too worried about getting settled. I am however, concerned about where to go right off the airplane. I can't seem to find hotels that specifically say pet-friendly or not, but I'll just assume they're not!

Woud anyone have any suggestions for hotels, temporary apartments to corporate housing that would take pets and not competely break the budget? In the southern area preferred?

Thanks in advance for any ideas / suggestions!

Hi Fellow Alaskan! I too am traveling to Thailand this spring. I am nervous as heck for the safety of my beloved Golden Retriever. Finding accomodations is also very difficult and I have yet to find one. I need a place to stay near Bumrungrad for three to four months if anyone has any suggestions. I am also perplexed by the conflicting info regarding quarantine and pets. SOme say 30 day mandatory, others say none required at all. I'd appreaciate any info anyone has on the matter of Q and places to stay in Sukhumvit area. Good luck to you and congratulations!

  3. If the cage + animal is over 10 kilo they will be put in the hold, but not just thrown in...so you still have to book ahead.

Call the airport ahead and tell them when you are comming, to make sure they are on place. (Especially if you arrive 5am, not fun waiting around for a couple of hours with a dog that badly needs to pee and pop and mostlikely has done some in the cage already due to the looong flight.

My boy + cage weight some 19 kilo, and he is only a 'medium' dog.

Always check with the airline exactly what they demand - different between the companys. Usually they require some food, that the dog is able to stand up and turn in the cage, some water, cage clearly marked as 'LIVE ANIMAL' and that the cage is approved(!). When you purchase it the spec-sheets for all approved cages usually state this, since they are a little extra sturdy.

No Q needed per defualt, unless the vet. is unsure if the animal is alright.

Remember that it's not allowed to drug the animal with any strong prescribtion-drug and that it might have an adversal effect in the thinner and dryier air of the airplane.

You stated, "No Q needed per default, unless the vet. ..." how is that possible when item 8 of requirments allowing importation of animals states they must be quarantined 30 days? I am desperate to find the "answers" prior to bringing my beloved dog. I will be beyond upset if somthing bad happened to him. I'm only going to be in bkk for a few months, but I don't want to leave him behind unless the threat to his health and safety is a good chance say 10%. Any advice?

  4. After reading those 2 sites .... I feel very happy that

    a) I have a tiny dog!

b)My dog loves the kennel we take her to!

    c) That kennel is CHEAP! (100 baht/day includes food!)

I am planning to bring my dog to BKK for three months. Is kenneling safe for the dog considering exposure to disease?

  5. Thanks for that info ... will have to take my Golden Retriever to check out PPP :o

I too have a Golden, he is eight and a lovely friend. I am planning a trip to BKK for two to four months and am having a terrible time finding accomodations that allows dogs. Do you think it is worth the health risks and emotional stress on the dog to bring him? I am seeking medical care at Bumrungrad and need a dog friendly accomodation near there--any suggestions?
