  1. Just to update on this topic. Arrived early, place was a zoo, as always. No signage to tell you how to get in the building before 10:00, but you have to walk up 3 flights of old concrete stairs in the back of a dark parking lot. When you get in, there's no place to stand for online appointments, as the distance between the queue and the chairs people sit in are just a few feet. I approached the nearest lady from behind the tables, and told her I have online appointment, she pointed me to another lady who said I need to print screenshot of the email. Then I sat down and said I need to fill out 4 forms and asked why I only have the tm7. I told her I don't see where are the forms and she didn't reply, because as I mentioned in my opening post, the forms are no longer available at the back of the room with the desks, and until now I still don't have a clue how are we supposed to get these forms. So she gave me the forms, I filled them and came bank and she processed me through and sent me directly into the office, and I'd say from there I was finished within a half hour. So online appointment is definitely still a much better option than showing up day of, but the part about cutting the queue, and why there are no paperwork trays anymore are pretty irritating. I don't know if it's gross incompetence, or if they intentionally want it to be as much of a hellhole as possible?
  2. 3. How exactly does that work? Is there a separate line up front? Or do I just go cut the main line and stand in front of the next person waiting? That sounds a little crazy to me. The were no instructions on the website after I booked, so I'm just wondering if that's the official process. 4. Sorry, I'm not following your wording "they may see you on time present"... Are you saying they might call me inside the office the moment I approach them? Would you mind rephasing that for me? Also, is there a link to print out the tm7? Thanks for the help
  3. I don't need to stand in line for checking documents?
  4. I just booked my online appointment for 9:30am, and I have a confirmation with a queue number, but now I'm wondering how does it work with checking documents? Do I still need to stand in the main line for the officers to check and stamp everything? Because if that's the case then I think this means I need to be first in line which means I have to be there at 7 o clock, which makes me ask what's the point of the online appointment, or am I just guessing wrong and I actually don't need the documents checked? Also does anyone have the forms so I can fill them out in advance? Last time I went there were new forms and they weren't even available in the back like in the past, they only had them at the desk with the document checkers, someone told me it's a way to make you pay the scanning places for the forms. Is this really true? Any information is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
  5. It's been a while since I checked, but is Chiang Mai still the safest bet for flying in internationally for those of us who've been in Thailand "too long"? I know to avoid DMK and BKK, and I used to fly in at u-tapao without issues, but I'm not finding flights from Hanoi to there. Is hat yai "Safe" these days? Any feedback is appreciated.
  6. Final update: I received my new and old passport in the mail today, after having sent it out on 12/3, so it took just over 2 weeks, and if not for the holidays it would've been under 2 weeks. The whole process was hassle free, but I will just say that everyone doing this should pay close attention to look for the option for the larger book, which is a small checkbox at the top of the 2nd page and is easy to miss. I actually was about to mail it when I realized I had missed it, so just be sure to look for it.
  7. Just to update, this information was accurate, as I went when I had 44 days remaining and was approved without hassle. Although, I did not use the link here for booking, and given that the line was much shorter that in the past (I was in and out in under an hour), I think an appointment wasn't necessary.
  8. Bangkok lak si. Do we know if they are agreeable to applying for the 30 day extension "early"?
  9. Thanks all for the replies. So is there any issue with extending 30 days even though I'm just 13 days into my current 60 day stamp? I was never really sure on how soon we can go for the 30 day extension after arriving in Thailand.
  10. I did a border run to Cambodia on the 11th and have a 60 day stamp, but I'm almost out of pages so I need to mail it in for renewal. My question is, how soon can I go to Immigration to get the 30 day extension after arriving, and will it have any adverse effect on the passport renewal process? I'm American, so I'm mailing to the American embassy, and have already completed all the forms and requirements, but I'm now considering getting a 30 day extension so as to give me maximum cushion for processing time, but I'm wondering if it could cause a problem either at immigration or in the passport renewal process? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
