  1. Hi,

Im looking to spend this summer somwhere in the Krabi province (mid may - late august). My main goal is diving, but with some nighlife and on a smaller budget. So far Phi Phi looks like the place to go, (except for maybe the limited budget part?), but i wanted to get some expert opinions. Is there such a thing as a 3-5K baht/month bungalo on Phi Phi? (I enjoy cold water and geckos/spiders/etc in my bungaloo, as long as theres a place for the hammack) Also, is it true the island has a ban on motorbikes?

    Any input is most appreciated

  2. Dear Members,

I have a dillema. Which island to pick?

I spend last summer doing coral reef conservation work in Koh Tao and absolutely loved it. This summer I want to come back to thailand and get master and tech diving certificates. I would love to come back to Koh Tao, but there are so many other islands in thailand, i figured i should go somewhere different. So, what do you guys think? Some place thats not as crazy as koh-phangan or samui (but still has some night life) and a good, cheap dive spot would be perfect. I was thinking of Phi-Phi or Krabi or maybe Phuket, but i dont know that much about them...

Any Input would be much appreciated,

    Thanks a lot

  3. Hi Everybody,

I am a russian citizen (living in US) and i am heading off to Koh Tao in about a month. I just got my plane tickets in the mail, but do not yet have a visa. The closest embassy is in LA and their website said it takes an average of two weeks to process a visa application. Russia is on the list of countries that can get a two week visa on arrival, but I definetely want to stay longer. The website said that one of the requirements is possession of a plane ticket back with a date within that two week period. My date is in July.

Can anyone advise me on whether or not there is a way around it? I still have time to apply for the travel visa by mail, but I am worried about the "two weeks on average" part of the description and about sending my actual passport via mail. Getting an extension on the "visa on arrival" sounds like a lot less hassle (If it is possible.) I am flying into Bangkok and ideally wold like to stay untill mid-august.

Any advise would be most appreciated.

    Andrey
