If you stay in Thailand after your job ended you are technically on overstay, and when applying for a further extension an IO might notice this.

The contract with agency has ended, but I’m assuming there is separate contract with the school which is still going the full 12 months until the visa ends

Returning to the school in May means I wouldn’t be on overstay, just on school holidays

I think you have a extension of stay based upon teaching not a 90 day entry from a non-b visa.

You cannot apply for a tourist visa without leaving the country.

You can change employers while on a extension of stay but you cannot get another non-b visa without leaving the country.

To change employers requires requires the new employer applying for a new work permit and obtaining a work permit application approval letter.

Then you would need a termination letter from your current employer stating the last day you will be working for them. Then using the termination letter you would cancel your extension and apply for a new one with supporting documents from your new employer and the work permit approval letter.

    Thanks

That sounds like one big headache so I think I’ll see it out until the work permit ends

  3. I recently completed a 1-year contract with a school and now wanting to either change school or go onto a covid 60-day tourist visa if necessary (The contract was through an agency so i'm guessing this is why the dates don't match)

The problem is that after joining, the work permit took 3-months to process, so my non-b and work permit don't finish until July

Does this stop me from taking on another position in May? I've had one job offer at another school, but they've said I have to arrange the visa myself (with assistance from their teachers)

Technically, your extension of stay ended when you were no longer working. If you are still on good terms with your old school, see if they are willing to postdate a termination letter to, say, the end of this month. This will allow you to cancel your current permission to stay and apply for a Covid extension without any complications. Without a postdated termination letter, you are currently in a precarious situation if you do not intend leaving Thailand soon.

well it's school holidays for 1 month (unpaid) and they are expecting me back next month, I just haven't signed the contract yet

maybe it's easier to quit once the non-b finishes in July

  5. I'm in a similar situation but confused about the process...

My contract with the school ended last month but the non-b extension doesn't finish until July

So do I cancel this non-b extension, apply for a covid 60 day extension, then start a new non-b when after finding a new school?

Also worried the current school will randomly cancel my work permit and i'll unknowingly be on overstay

I would chance you at 'just dumb luck' (next to nill) without enrollment in a post graduate program. If you'd been at one school for at least four years perhaps 10%. One school six years 15%.

As an aside, getting a fourth waiver I think very possible for you but not at all assured.

Common wisdom dictates that 'job jumpers' aren't given 3-4 waivers. This simply isn't true. What khrusapa is looking at is erratic behavior such as leaving mid-term and having burned thru say three waivers in two years. Essentially unstable behavior. Consistently working at nationally or at least regionally recognized schools is imo a big plus.

From my personal experience if you have a nice package, proper photos and especially a good school backing you it is not a problem to jump jobs annually.

Just be aware as the OP of the fact you will need to do a post graduate course sooner than later.

Get the paperwork from That Filipino School ©®, give the letter to your employer and you should be fine.

It takes 18 to as much as 24+ months to get your official documents from that amazing institution of 'higher learning' although they can provide a certificate of completion which will allow you to apply for your license.

    Hope that helps

I’m trying to delay the course as much as possible to see whether requirements and accepted courses change. Also in 2 years I’ll probably be able to afford a PGCEi instead.

Would it not be better to see if the application is rejected first, then apply for the course?

I’m not sure how long the process takes, or whether I’d have to take a year off teaching if rejected..

  7. I’ve tried searching this and have had mixed results..

I've used 3 waivers in the space of 4 years.

What are the chances of getting a 4th waiver? I’ve heard it can be done if there’s 2 years remaining of the 6.

If the application is rejected, I’m prepared to enrol on the Filipino course, but not sure how long this delays the procedure..

    Completed TM47.

    Copy of Passport photo page.

Copy of original Non Imm Visa

    Copy of last entry stamp

    Copy of last extension stamp

    Copy of TM6

Copy of last 90 day report receipt.

Madness, add the passport and self addressed envelope and that’s 9 different requirements

Is there no way the 90-day could be done 3 weeks earlier instead of 2 weeks?

My IO doesn’t accept online reporting either

  9. Hello there,

I am currently looking at starting English teaching, and a few schools and companies have responded with interest.

I have a few questions for anyone with experience:

    - How many hours a week are usually asked for working at a government school as an English teacher? Is there a limit to where they are taking the p***?

    - Some companies are offering lesson plans, does this increase the teaching hours?

    - If choosing a school where lesson planning is required, is this something that will be taking up evenings and weekends?

I'm semi-retired so money isn't an issue, i'm just looking for a good work-life balance.

    Best regards,

    Lake

  10. I've been trying to find this medicine to help insomnia but no pharmacies have it, only offering me tramadol instead, and most have never heard of drug/brand

I live in small city full of pharmacies, is there another name it goes by?

I've already tried the antihistamines, benzodiazepines and natural remedies recommended on here but none of them have helped
