  1. Okay, I give up. If the responses I'm getting here are representative Chiang Mai is not for me.
Thanks for the assistance. After repeated negative responses I am taking that as my guidance. Negative.

  2. For the one, hopefully sincere, response that pointed out one need not speak English or see a white face, that is not my intention.
Where I live now it is a balance. I can easily navigate my day with meditation, temples, Indian and Western culture and events.
I cannot get the same retirement Visa benefits that Thailand offers and that is why I am searching.
Trolls message me separately and I will pay the toll if you can refrain from attacking openly again.

  3. I booked a flight 1 August return 26 October Chennai to Bangkok with plan to use USA exemption then get extension before traveling North. Near the end of the first 60 days head Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai and Mekong boat trip to LP and fly back to CM getting another 30 days and leave on return flight.

Do I need exit tickets? What other documents will I need?

I've been lurking and picked up some of the details but it's not really clear as yet.

  4. After several readings this all sounds clear although I would have to write it out to follow. Are agents helpful or worth the cost? I will not be in my home country, USA, but traveling from India.
It seems like a one time cost to get a retirement Visa, see where the offices are and then prepare for 90 day reporting and yearly renewals could be valuable.
There are costs to moving here regardless of using an agent.
