  1. Others who have stayed on a marriage visa after divorce have been treated as overstayers and subject to deportation plus blacklisting.

I am not an expert on immigration by any stretch and would defer to anything UbonJoe has to say. But I do know one very scary story that started out almost exactly like this.

In the meantime, I would not listen to anyone who says this is OK and I would not even consider it without talking to a lawyer. And if you do, bring all your belongings with you and make sure you locked your door next time you visit the immigration office.

I'm not impressed either. But stress says it better than strain.

I was using this definition of strained.

"produced by deliberate effort rather than natural impulse; artificial or forced."

"Sleep is not being slept" is a very awkward construction.

But I don't mean to be critical and do hope the poster finds a solution. I typically find grammar nazis more annoying than bad writers. I wouldn't have brought it up except to respond to the comment praising the style.

    To the OP,

"If only I could write like that"...(much admired).

You're probably not pretentious enough. I found it verbose and strained. My first reaction was why is this guy writing like this? Not how can I help

  4. I applied for Thai Permanent Residency during the December window at the end of last year; subsequently completed the application; and then last month went through the interview process.

I have been told that went very well and that I should receive approval, but that I just need to "wait and see".

I would like to find out more out the process and timing as I applied on an employment basis and stayed in my job through December in order to be able to apply. I was told by my agent that it was important to stay in the job through the interview process as the application was basically open until then. So, I have now stayed in the job for another six months.

At times, they have told me that I could quit the job now that the application is complete. I know friends who in the past, when there was a multi-year delay in approval, quit there jobs and then several years later received approval. But when I ask my agent directly, so I can quit now, they seem to hedge a bit.

    So, my questions are:

    1) If I were to terminate my employment now, would that create any risk to the application?

    2) What is the process from here? Is it just wait and see? Is there any way to know how long that will take?

    3) How will they notify me?

    Thank you very much,
