    Been in Thailand for many years and never hit anyone no matter how angry I was. And never was I hit. Maybe because I treat everyone from the doorman to the CEO with respect. Try that sometime. Guess they don't teach that in UK anymore.

    Nothing to do with big business. Street food vendors have little to no impact. Go check food courts in malls and then compare to the insignificant street seller. This is just government trying to upgrade the face of Thailand to a more demanding type of tourist.

    This is one of reasons I prefer to stay in cities rather than move to the country side even though I love nature and quiet time. But I value my life and my sanity and don't want to see one of these when I'm taking a dump.

    It astonishes me how people from a country with so many islands and almost surrounded by water still don't learn how to swim. I am from a country that doesn't even have 1% of the seafront Thailand has and the first thing my parents wanted me to learn is how to cycle and swim.
