Spent a lot of time in the Philippines, met many nightclub girls, waitress, security guards. Some of them were doing jobs that wasn't their first choice of occupations, but I didn't see any despair. Most were reasonably happy, some were making good money, families and kids all happy enough. It's a third world country, what do you expect?
This security guard seemed happy enough!
Never been to PH but given the fact that I recognize a forced smile and wondering why you need a guard with shotgun in plain sight in a cafe , I will probably never will.

CAN YOU IMAGINE BEING ONE OF THESE PEOPLE
prompting a two-week quarantine of 13 other passengers travelling on the same flight.
Considering there were only 14 people on that flight that was a private charter or private plane. Probably all from Emirates. I wouldn't worry too much about rich people dealing with the 2 week quarantine in terms of costs , Arab tourist is the the biggest spender at the end of the 2 week vacation.
I recon they are extremely <deleted> right now being locked in a hotel room as time is more important than the hotel room costs.
Anyway once this blows up , the bubble tourism strategy of Thailand is pretty much DOA.

Can you imagine arriving on the airport just to be notified the sandbox has been canceled ????
And after 10-15 minutes of conflicting information you don't know if you need to go back or stay.
Because I imagine this will happen lol

Had a fever at home
22:00: convulsions, CPR at scene from neighbor
23:00 CPR failed and die.
Biopsy result: severe bilateral pulmonary edema. Hemorrhage in the pericardial sac about 180 ml, tear at right atrium caused by acute myocardial infarction.
Covid is primarily a cardiovascular disease. It is no surprise to me and I think more research should be done on effects of vaccines on people with migraines considering migraine is linked to a broader range of ischemic vascular disorders including angina, myocardial infarction and cardiovascular mortality.
Therefore administering covid vaccines to people suffering from vascular disorders is very risky.
So sorry for the lady. As someone said it above , a victim of a world gone mad.
QuoteIs it law here I have to get vaccinated? What is the penalty for not getting the vaccination?
Surely the immune suppressed people should be the first one's to get the vaccine?!
There is also the options of waiting until a big chunk of the world/local population will get vaccinated so the virus will become basically irelevant. What happened to the other historic viruses - they eventually disappeared.

Been twice , the first time was my first trip out of the country many years ago and was amazed (but i think this is more to the fact that It was my first trip abroad). Second time after visiting MANY other countries , not so much. Actually got really bored in the 1 week I stayed there. Can't really say I would like to stay there for more than 3 days.
Can't understand what people find fascinating about Rome once you get to visit the historic landmarks.
It is dirty ,infested with beggars , wise-guys and thiefs (good luck going to the police , I don't think I ever saw a more careless police force) and is basically hoards of people with cameras flocking every street at every hour.
Food? I had much better pizza, pasta, seafood in other places than in the best rated restaurant on google reviews.
Nah. It is basically a city destroyed by iresponsabile tourism. Once you go big to millions of tourists each year it is impossible to keep the quality high.

A post-Covid Vietnam would be wise to offer renewable retirement visas...
Vietnam never had "retirement visas" so doubt you will see such thing. Vietnam aims to bring more industry in at the expense of China, doesn't really care for this insignifiant cash from retirees. I know I wouldn't bother , it's too much hassle for peanuts money.
Anyway not sure about you but I would never see Vietnam as a good place to retire. Dirty , noisy , Viets are not very kind (personal opinion , talking about people in towns not in villages - too direct for my liking and severely lacking respect) , mediocre health services, crazy traffic (if you think Thais are crazy in traffic , you should really check Vietnam) , a very annoying horn communication by drivers ...man that was enough alone to annoy the hell out of me.
Stayed for 3 weeks 2 years ago but couldn't get out faster. Nah , not for me.

Probably it has been said , but the son talking a walk just when the parents drown is kind of suspicious. Wondering who is going to inherit everything now?

Vaccines do not kill.
The Human body is so complex that no one can say for sure (unless you are ThaiVisa self entitled expert and you know them all) because what may apply to you and 99% of the population may not apply to the 1%. Those 1% still matter as SOMEONE may be a part of it. That is why you sign a vaccination consent form and have all the risks (known) presented to you. The unknown will probably become known in a couple of years (maybe)
Also any type of medication has a chance of killing someone. It may be small but no one can GUARANTEE you anything.

With only 50k baht you won't have much luck in getting in some decent returns. Waste of time if you ask me.
I would say save continuously for those number of years - buy a condo and rent it to tourists.

They may be many but they are not big spenders , let's get this out of the way. I am not sure where that myth came from. The average salary in China is much lower than in Europe or US or Japan for that matter. It is impossible for a Chinese to have more disposable income. Also it isn't fair to compare how many Chinese go to Thailand vs Europeans. It is like comparing how many European tourists go to a European country vs how many Chinese get to Europe. Of course there are many , they are very close to each other - probably very cheap plane tickets.

Direct flights from China, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore have been flying daily before Covid-19 lockdown, and some of them even during a period upon reopening after 1st wave, plenty of international flight possibilities; you might be able to transit in Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, or Singapore, which a number of people already did before Covid...????
If I remember correctly for China it was a charter not a daily flight.
Anyway , the idea was that the airport has a short runway accompanying only short/medium range planes. You will not be able to have a direct flight coming from Europe/US for example as the big planes will not be able to land.

We signed the contract in Bangkok and they didn't give me a copy
Illegal.
QuoteIn the contract it is stated - probation salary X, after probation - salary will increase. And it also clearly says in the contract that probation is 3 months +can be extended +1 month (okay, maximum 4 months)
Either they found a loop hole so you are still on repeated probation (that would probably be illegal but Thais are resourceful )or they didn't respect the contract at all .
I suggest a direct meeting with your boss rather than emails to see what is going on. It looks to me they they didn't respect the contract , you can go to the labor protection but you'll have to take in account the company will probably fire you with the first change they got.

Where did you come up with the notion that "vaccine offers a proven 6-8 months protection, after which it fails to protect the host efficiently"? It's not yet known how long vaccination protection lasts. So far, though, the vaccines have been very effective at suppressing serious symptoms and death even in new variants of the virus.
For a vaccine to be allowed by FDA it needs to have proven 6 month protection. That was the period the vaccine had been tested . And it does protect the inoculated with a high level that goes to 80-90% eficiency.
However , there are plenty of cases of people losing antibodies afterwards (after get infected again) or losing them with time. It is basically just like a flu vaccine that you have to take each year.
Many in the industry will share this point of view and covid jab will mostly likely be needed to be done yearly to have meaningful protection.

Considering vaccine offers a proven 6-8 months protection , after which it fails to protect the host efficiently , I'm wondering what will the world do afterwards considering 1 person was enough to spread this world wide. I am surely not going to take the jab each year , as far as I can see a third dose is in the making (for 2 vaccines at least) . Who knows , maybe it will be a forth on the way depending what kind of variants will appear in the meantime.
You can't expect people will be subscribed each year to these multiple jabs. Once the governments will stop financing these , I doubt people will go deliberately to vaccinate on their money. So what will we do then? Stop the economy and let's vaccinate people?!
Unfortunately everyone is thinking on the short term but none on the long term.

When I was in Thailand bought some from a shop in the Suvarnabhumi airport. (breaking my number one rule , never buy overpriced things from any airports) but forgot to take them from somewhere else and they had a pretty good discount. I think I paid 3600 baht for a pack of 6 pieces or 7. Yeah I probably got ripped off but anyway...
The brand is Pranali and searching online it seems they have a website and a online shop.
They are high quality but they are a bit on the expensive side
Essential Oil – Pranali Wellness these were the ones that I got. Pretty good and long lasting odor.

Flying is much cheaper if you stay a day or two in Dubai? I never heard such thing . I always do directly when going to Thailand and you can't go much lower than those ~430 euros Turkish Airlines charges for Istanbul - Bangkok direct flight route.
So how much exactly are you going to save by going down that route? Is it worth it?
It looks to me you add unnecessary complications and this is not a good time to do so.
You should ask Turkish Airlines for transit rules.

~30.000 THB for a branded pre-built. probably a bit less if you build it your own from parts.
Check this stuff here , should be enough for you.

Other than some few expats is anyone wanting to go through all this mumbo jumbo for 1-2 weeks in Thailand? Seriously doubt it.
