I did mine yesterday. N2 moved very slowly and needed a copy of my work permit which I hadn't expected. All in all, the transfer, then getting new extensions, then new re-entry permits took about 5 hours. Could have been worse!
Sent from my SM-A500F using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app
I was actually called right after posting that, and 9:55 I was out of there.
Whatever, I still find it good that they manage the lines at the counter where you need to get the queue numbers. People tend to jump lines over there. Even when outside is fine and disciplined, once you get to that counter, it turns into a zoo.

Sitting at CW right now. 8:53 I was called in, counter N2 (N1 was for all the visa extensions). Now it's 9:45 and I'm still waiting for document approval in the middle back of the N counters. Takes forever for them to check the 5 sheets of documents and put 8 stamps in my old and new passport. They pay attention to every little detail.

I was there for a retirement extension this morning. Don't know about passport transfers but three hundred people by noon sounds off. Maybe depends on how you count.
The check in process was better and they’re getting people into the system faster…but then it goes into the usual slow motion. And they’re still insisting up silly things like drawing maps and making repeated runs for copies that waste a lot of time. There were also a generous number of agents doing their typical queue-jumping…which wasted more time.
I saw the IO at 0915 but didn’t get my passport back until after 1100…so the overall ‘hurry up and wait’ factor was similar to last year. The staff are still very much obsessed with minutia.
On the bright side…the Re-Entry section was very fast…and best of all……there were “NO TIPS” signs all over the place.
This is exactly what I was worried about. The lady who told me she arrived around noon and they'd already finished 300+ numbers... can't really be trusted since I trusted her words once and got sent around in circles cause SHE said "mai mi panha", but the folks at CW said "mi panha". This lady likes to give fake assurances. I don't believe that CW can change that quickly from 90 numbers until noon to 300+ numbers until noon... riiiight.

I'd appreciate it, thank you.

There was a post on the Thai Visa Facebook group, that someone got to CW today at around 1pm (after lunch) and had got their Re-entry permit by 2.30.
that sounds normal for re-entry. How about the N counter?

so someone just told me today that they have changed things at CW. This person said that she went there yesterday around noon, and they have already finished 300+ numbers. Can someone who have recently been at CW confirm this?

I have to move my existing visa from my old passport to my new one.
Question 1: do I have to go to Changwattana? Can't I do it at Chamchuri?
Question 2: If I have to do it at Changwattana, which counter is responsible for it? Is it counter N, the same one that handles all visa extensions? How long should I expect to wait?
Has anyone had any similar experiences?

the village-dwelling old retired fart who has no sympathy for "Bankokians".... what a delightful person you are.

I would like to know about agents as well. I would love to be able to come and wait only for 1 hour before being processed, instead of the usual 4-5 hours... Anyone has a clue?

They start handing out queue numbers for the main desk at 7:00 now insteading of having to line up at the door.
that's great. Took them long enough to notice the flaw in the chaotic system

My guess would be that vans start leaving Mochit at about 6 a.m.; however Immigration doesn't open until 8:30 a.m. I don't know if there is any kind of orderly queuing system outside their doors before they open.
oh there is. an extremely long one if you arrive at 8:30.

It's that time of the year again *sigh*
I'm planning on getting out of there before 4 pm so I wanna be as early as I can. What time do the vans connecting Mochit and Chaengwattana start operating? Does anyone know?

Don't believe any sob stories from Thai women or expats.
Avoid Tuk Tuks, mostly driven by scammers and thieves.

Ladyboys are not transsexuals, they all have a penis (so are transvestites).
I wouldn't spend much time in Bangkok, you should be in Pattaya for most of the time.
You should believe sob stories from expats ABOUT Thai women though.... You don't have to fall into a cave in order to know that there is a cave ahead. Heed the warnings.

6. What's the best places to eat near soi cowboy and nana as my hotel is between those areas.
You're in the best place to "eat" anyway. Enjoy the "meal". Beware of food poisoning the day after you feast. That often happens when you eat dirty oysters, especially around that area. Once in a while you might also encounter a sausage when you thought you ordered an oyster.

Show me a woman who doesn't like spending money.... Regardless of nationalities
That is a service you could charge for... ?
Show me a PERSON who doesn't like spending money.... regardless of nationalities or gender.
Let's not act like men don't like to spend money.... Everyone likes to spend money. Not everyone likes to earn it. Again, regardless of gender.
However, getting sidelined here. I was talking about the girl in the picture in particular. You (or more like I) can spot a gold digger from one single glance. They have a vibe of "I like things I cannot afford and I want to climb up the social ladder the easy way"

Please address how you conclude there was surprise in either of the two above posts.
I can't speak in regards to the first reply but as far as my post goes, it serves as a warning to drivers that there are endless possibilities to get tripped up by the stupidity of others in the Kingdom.
The need to post this indicates a level of surprise for me.

That is the Thai way it seems. The term "family" is used quite loosely, and when it's about family, there is freedom. Especially when there is farang money involved, then all of a sudden every "family" member wants a taste. You married a Thai woman, you should've known this fact. If you don't agree with this lifestyle or mindset, then maybe you shouldn't have married a Thai. You'll never change them. You can only change you. Accept that this will keep happening again and again, and if you can't accept it, it might cause problems in your relationship with your wife. If you can't accept this, well then all there is to do is remove yourself from the equation.

Are you new in Thailand or why are you still surprised at the lack of logic in everyday Thai life?

I don't eat at Sizzler but my gf wanted to try it. She ordered a chicken breast. You could cut it with a fork. She had a bite and insisted i try it as she didn't believe it was chicken. I tried a small bite - no idea what they did to that chicken but I'm pretty sure it wasn't natural. She's never asked to go back.
many cooked "chicken breast" that we eat every day are not pure chicken. I saw a short documentary where they compared chicken from 3 fast food joints. Subway had the lowest percentage of real chicken meat in their chicken products. McDonald's was even better. Also, I'm suspicious that the "chicken breast" from seven eleven for 40 Baht was not real chicken. It's so big, and only has 90 calories? Right.... And the consistency was... like you said, you could cut it with a fork. And it didn't have this stringy texture of real chicken meat. Everything was too uniformed.

If I understand correctly, OP seeks meaningful human connections. I am a single foreigner here as well, albeit not a farang, and I am facing the same problem. I do have Thai friends, but they are somehow quite limited in the topics that they can talk about. Burmese people seem to be better at deeper conversations than Thais, that was my experience. If you are looking for friends to just have some small talk with, drink, have fun, laugh, Thais are perfect for that (given that their English is good enough or your Thai is good enough so there is little to no language barrier) But as I'm sure many western men also feel, if you are seeking someone with whom you can have a genuine mental connection with, someone (or people) who stimulates your mind and with whom you can engage in interesting, deeper conversations with, (or in other words, be close friends with) it is indeed not easy. The search has no end.
