    Hi,

I just bought a weed plant home and my daughter told me I have to download an app and register it.

Googled and Plookganja is the only one I can see. Is this the correct one? Plus, it's all in Thai, I can't seem to see an English tab.

    Any advice?

    Thanks

Don't worry, just get on with it....tell them it's to flavour up your Tom Yam soup if anyone gets nosey, happy days Scooby doo 555

Some do... some don't.. It all depends on the individuals involved...

My general sense is it's becoming a somewhat less common thing, particularly among younger, modern thinking Thais....

But even when sinsod DOES occur, it's very common lately for the family to put up the big money for show at the ceremony, and then take it back after everyone's gone home... As I said above, thus face is satisfied.

Agreed,my stepdaughter's had two marriages to Thais.

No Dowry demanded, but given...then returned back the next day.

Btw... I'm from England, married and live in Isaan for 23yrs

Filling in time t home sorting out personal documents etc, when it occurred to me that my Thai wife does not officially exist.  This situation might be more common than you think, so what should I do?

I married my long standing Thai g/f when we were living in UK.  Completely legal marriage at local registry office.  She may have had to show her Thai passport as identity, but too long ago to remember.  On the marriage certificate she is identified as V... P... Spinster, with father Y... P (deceased)

After the wedding we lived together in UK and had a joint bank account and she had her own account.  Both accounts have since been closed.

Now we are living in Thailand, she has kept her maiden name, with Thai ID card and passport in that name, mainly so hat she can continue to 'own' our house and some land in the village..  Probably many expats are living in the same way.

Looking at my UK Will, I find she is named as 'my wife V... C..., and no reference to her maiden name.  But.. Nowhere is there any evidence that this Mrs. V...C... is the same person as Miss V... P... living in Thailand with a Farang husband.

Has any member of the Forum had experience of a case like this??  What might happen when I die and someone challenges my will, that she is not the beneficiary?

Short of registering our marriage in Thailand, is there anything I can do to avoid future prolems?

Discovery of the individual, notification to police, hospital, death certification, notification to the Embassy, postmortem, liaison between the Embassy and family, deep analysis by Thaivisa posters.

    Well said,that'll quell the rummers!

I care about people I know and love dying.

Are there any facts that 1 US citizen dies everday in Thailand?

Will I read a 4 part story into how a veteran died, as told by the American Legion Post?

    Absolutely not.

How I die in Isaan won't be a 4 part story, won't be hailed by the American Legion

It will be quite simple reason

Up in Smoke with Cheech and Chong in the local temple

    It won't make the news

Think that's what most of "us" people have chosen this way brother

Then you presumably have obtained some form of residency or worked in Thailand? I agree what you quote is great, but it is not readily available to most retirees in Thailand.

Bloody hell, that's savage, could've killed him with that dumbell. I don't understand people who can so easily act out this sort of violence. To think, he could've ended up doing a life sentence for murder, just over a stupid gym bench?? Why not wait a few minutes then it's all yours....this shows someone with an extremely low IQ who acts before they think with limited or no ability to reason.

Just think, some poor unsuspecting bar girl is probably going to end up with this guy when he's out mongering...I really feel sorry for any girl that does, cos this guy is a moron, no doubt about it. She will for sure end up on the receiving end of his temper and violence.

I really wish people with bad tempers like this didn't exist, but I guess it kind of explains why mankind is so willing to go to war with each other all through history and no doubt will continue to do so forever in the future.

Find him in the gutter, laying hands on a bargirl!

Parents here should be more worried about their kids refusing to use the car seats, after being spoiled rotten for the first few years, and being able to move around a fast moving car like an ape in the forest. That will be the biggest challenge for the people who say they are parents, but refuse to behave like one.

    Totally agree with you.

Had this out with the Wife 25yrs ago with my two step kids 2 & 4 yrs old,i was frowned at and nothing was done!

Now two grandchildren,i mentioned it again yesterday!

     See what happens!

We've had bouts of rain up here including yesterday. We had one a couple of weeks ago and I saw a guy near the market clearing the drains but that was after it flooded. I suspect this is the normal procedure.

I remember a comment on here a few years ago that was related to vehicle maintenance but I think it fits here as well. "To most of us maintenance is what we do to stop a vehicle breaking down.  To Thais its what you do after it breaks down.

    Absolutely  correct,they don't know what "Maintenance" mean's

Thais don't complain about this. Pretty much nobody in Samui wears a mask outside, but I was in Songkhla a few days ago and pretty much everyone was wearing a mask outside and everyone was looking strangely at me and my mate the only two without masks. Had a feeling they were enjoying wearing masks.

    Yes,helps them hide their "misunderstandings" & B.S.

Most secure airports have double gates at vehicle access points which contain vehicles.

They are allowed through the first gate which is then closed behind them, while the person/s are processed and the vehicle searched. They are then allowed through the second gate to air side areas.

Something very lax going on here.

     "lunchtime" in Thailand!!...don't you know??
