She has no contact with any family, I think her mum and dad are estranged, she has a brother I met once but she never contact with him. I have been reading the comments & guess I need to get more evidence & more advice. From the few lawyers I have spoken to they say that I am well within my rights to take my son out of the situation if I feel we are in danger. So I'm a bit perplexed by all the 'you are just a farang they will take her side' comments but as I said I shall keep gathering evidence and get as much advice as I can.

Yes I'm on his birth certificate, some good questions so far. I don't know for sure she is at work all the time. My son is at school & I can work then & do some in the evening, I also have no intention of taking him out of Thailand I like it here, there are worse places to live.
My immigration status isn't a problem and I have already been to the police to document the various incidents, actually a question I would like to make is how do I press charges or make a prosecution at a police station? Because so far all the police have done is document the various incidents and given me a copy. Maybe I can have her charged for the smashed TV etc?
And yes she has picked up a knife before, as I say I think getting out and then dealing with the consequences after maybe the way to go.

Ok it's not drugs she is against drugs she doesn't even drink, she is not interested in Thai men either, the men she speaks to are located in other countries.
Rather than focusing on reasons for her actions which are deliberate my only concern is the effect it is having on my son and the legal ramifications that I may confront if I do leave. If anyone has advice on that front it will be great.

Yes it is definitely deliberate and she is not involved with anyone else because she is at work all day. But I will not leave my son, like I said if I leave I will take him with me. I was just interested to hear if anyone else had ever been in a similar situation and what happened.

She is not on drugs but I couldn't say about mental health issues but I think she gets a kick out of it. We haven't got on for a while & she spends a lot of time on a webcam chat site called camfrog talking to other men, not that I'm bothered. That's why I said to speak to a lawyer about how we can separate & both look after our son but she is not interested in speaking about anything.
I have got to the point where I am just going to leave, I can't afford to run two apartments so she will have to look after herself but apparently there are no child abduction laws in Thailand so I can just leave & take my son with me and then take it from there.

I live with my Thai wife and 4 year old son in a rented apartment in bkk & we was married at the local amphur, I have a situation now where my wife is becoming more and more aggressive and violent often breaking things in the apartment.
The police have been called before and they didn't do anything, not even looked at our smashed up room. Luckily I recorded the last time she went berserk on video and have taken pics & have i been to the police to record any incidents & have received reports. Actually the police have said to leave her if she keeps doing it.
I have spoken to her about divorce before but she only wants to go to the amphur without any lawyer present and refuses to talk to anyone about it. My son is scared of her outbursts as she often targets his toys a lot to break, anyway from speaking to people I gather there is no reason I can't take my son away from where we currently live for his safety.
She contributes very little to my son anyway, I pay for his schooling & everything else & she just works to pay off her depts.
I'm just wondering if there is anyone out there that has any advice or has experienced something similar, if I do take my son with me obviously I am worried about how she will react & what could happen in the future.
Any sensible replies are welcome & thanks in advance.

I had this before when applying for a Thai visa in Bali, I had to show a 7 night booking so I went on booking.com & chose the cheapest place I could find with cancellation policy.

I only changed because I hated the under consideration period. Documents are not that much different and it was easy enough because I had them saved in the PC and just changed the dates
Exactly & the fact I have to drag my wife & child all the way up there which takes all day.

Ok no problem, one of the reasons for change is to negate the headache get every year haha. Thanks guys for the replies.

Can anyone who has done this confirm wife has to attend? And if so is it for first renewal only?

OP, you can obtain your extension based on retirement at CW.
Your wife will need to attend.

Why would I need my wife to attend?
So it's not a case of applying 1 month in advance as per marriage extension for an under consideration stamp that's good.
Thanks for all the replies so far, puts my mind at rest

Hello all,
I am currently on a non o marriage extension but would like to change over to retirement extension when my current extension runs out.
I can meet the requirements but have received conflicting info on whether this can be done in country at Cheng wattana, some have said yes it's possible others have said I need to go to Thai embassy/consulate outside of Thailand to obtain a fresh non o before I can then apply for retirement extension.
Hopefully someone can clarify this for me or someone who has done the same thing would be able to confirm what I need to do.
Many thanks

Hello,
I'm married to a Thai national at local ampur & have a 3 year old half Thai/UK child born in Thai (my name on birth certificate) & we both want to get divorced. There are no assets or anything like that involved, I have been main carer of child since born every day & would like full custody as I am in a position to support the child & mother isn't
I would like to live nearby so mum can still see child, my question is what is the best way to go about this legally & any recommendations for legal services in Bangkok.
I would like to get my ducks all in a row before I go through with this so I don't regret not doing something.
Replies will be gratefully received. -
Going to do my first 1 year extension based on marriage soon, what are the requirements of this map? Is it a map of local area? Or to get to where we live from the immigration office? Google map or drawn by hand?
Thanks in advance.

If you have a valid entry from a Non O Visa with your permission of stay ending 31st May, I can't see any reason not to apply for an extension based on marriage now, provided you meet the financial requirements.
400K in a Thai bank for 2 months, or 2 x 40K monthly overseas transfers.
If you require more time to season the funds for the required period, then apply for a 60 day extension, then apply for the 1 year extension before the 60 extension days expires.
Yeah one of the reasons is i need a little longer to season the funds for the 1 year extension & that i have only just got all the documents i needed to actually get married from my embassy as they have only been issuing emergency documents until very recently.
I think i will have to go & get that 60 day extension even though i will have to take my 11 month old baby along with me, things being not clear about this amnesty & all the uncertainty about travel in & out of thailand for the foreseeable future i really dont want to take any chances.

I am currently on a non o based on having a thai child which is due to expire on 31st may which i was going to let run into the amnesty period.
I was then thinking about doing a 1 year extension based on marriage during the amnesty period but reading in another thread a poster seemed to be saying this will not be possible & if try you would have to start from scratch. Can anyone confirm if this is true?
If so would it be advisable to do the 60 day extension of my non o visa at CW before my current visa expires?
Thanks for any replies. -
Thanks ubonjoe for your reply & info, looking at the link you posted to the legitimization process it looks as though it will be easier to get married.

My situation is i am located in bangkok, i have half thai/british baby born here in bangkok & i am not currently married to the mother & i am on the childs birth certificate as father & baby has my surname.
I have 2 months left on my current non o visa (based on child) which i have not extended yet, could someone help me with info for exact documents needed & the process involved.
Firstly for -
a) 60 day extension (what docs? When to apply? whether i would have to take my 9 month old baby to CW?)
Then also -
b) 1 year extension based on child (what docs? And again what is the process)Obviously i want to stay & look after my baby & partner, what would be the best way to do this?
I can put the 400,000 into a thai bank account no problem, i have 2 months left on my current visa & then presumably i can extend for 2 more months. Is 4 months potentially enough time to sort all this out & do both extensions given the current circumstances with regards to the virus?
Many thanks in advance for any replies.
