op: the good days are over. like yourself i managed to "live" here quite long with TR's as from age 37 til it became too much of a pain. now i stay 4 month a year in thailand (2x 2 months TR) and the rest i spend in spain. i know my money is missed as i was quite generous (no cheap charlie) but so be it. in 5 years i'm 50 so i'll be back ? oh and i'm not married nor even interested in a thai wife, imagine!

i left after 19 years ?
i was 23 when i started living here, never had local gf, never a family or similar burden.
i worked here legally (not as teacher so don't jump to conclusions) had great life til it was time to move on.
i never built a house. my maximum rent was 6000thb all included. i had many local friends. i visit them 2x a year.
i'm in spain now and soon off to Hungary to prospect ?
i'm 45 years old so i am still adventurous.
