    Cambodia.

The only requirement for the foreign retirees to stay long term is being 55 YO or older.

Absolutely Nothing Else unlike in Thailand.

On entry, pick an Ordinary Visa(can be changed to Retirement Visa valid for 3, 6,12 months through the local travel agents). It costs about U$300- or so.

One good news.  It comes with re-entry permit.

So you don't have to buy Re-Entry permit separately.

And their RV can be extended each year at the same cost.

Their banks also offer a lot more attractive  interest rate for the term deposit than in Thailand.

I am happy with my daily life here.

But at the same time, Plan B is always in my mind just in case.

Thai government might try to kick out foreign retirees  other than the very/super rich in the future.

Yes you can enter Malaysia on a motorbike, I did it earlier this year. Here is a relatively recent thread about the same topic with all the relevant info:

As usual it is advised to first use the search function, there is a lot of info on this matter.

Thanks Eisfeld- that information is very useful!!

  3. As the heading says, is it possible to take a Thai- registered bike into  Lao  ?  If so , what documentation is required and how difficult is the transfer process in getting my bike from here to there. My plan is to travel around Lao by bike for about a month before returning to the Kingdom. Has anyone ever done such a trip with their own bike?

On that same note, is it possible to put a motorbike on the train from Bangkok to Udon Thani or Nong Khai ? ??

    Many thanks in Advance

  5. Greetings

Sometime soon, I plan on travelling from Bangkok to Chiang Mai by train. On that train trip, I would like to take my motorbike with me ( it's a Honda phantom, so its not a particularly big bike!). Does anyone know whether Thai trains accept motor bikes, what special arrangements do I need to make, and approximately how much will it cost ?

    TIA

  6. on December 31,  I'm flying with Jetstar from BKK to SGN ( transiting there) and then onto Melbourne. Unfortunately, the Jetstar website doesn't have much information on transit requirements , instead referring travelers to the Changi Airport site. Unfortunately again, the Changi website isn't that easy to follow. As for the Australian Border Force site, it is a complete disaster. One section says that Australian citizens are free to return, with few restrictions. Another section within the same ABF site, mentions submitting an applicating advising of travel date, and health status. However I was not able to access the application form, even though I tried  many times. Has anyone had more success than me?

  7. Singapore Airport Transit Requirements

On December 31, I will arrive into Changi on my way to Australia. On arrival, I will spend an hour in the transit lounge before boarding my onward flight to Australia. I am unsure of what travel documents ( or heath clearance certificates) I will need for flying into Changi  or for my stay in the transit lounge. Can anyone enlighten me as to what the current requirements s are   !!

    Many thanks in Advance !!

Was sent by my employer. Been here nigh on 30 years. No regrets at all, well maybe not buying more property when beachside stuff was going for a song.

Saying that I have decided that in my dotage Thailand is no longer the best option for me personally and am getting things lined up to leave. I was married but my wife was not Thai.

    Hi MRT

Where do you plan on moving to ?

I knew i should have remained anti vaxxer. No joke. And now they even want booster shots in germany and netherlands…. Not taking any more.

I'm not sure that article is legit - it may well be a student prank. But at the moment. I'm not really sure. What I do know is I can't sleep. I'll go back to bed and give it another try . Good night and god luck
