  1. One of Thailand's best English radio stations is Hua Hin's Surf Radio (they also provide a news service here on Asean Now). Available online via all of the apps mentioned previously, or my personal favourite "TuneIn". Alternatively, listen online at www.surf.radio

  2. Hi there,

As in the subject line, I have a Guardian visa (my daughter holds a Thai passport) which was renewed in March, and I just did my first 90 day report last Thursday.

My Dad has been taken ill in the UK and may not make it, and it's likely I will need to visit soon.

What happens to my visa, as it's not multiple entry? From memory, is it necessary to return as a tourist, then apply for another 3 month non O, then reapply for one year Guardian visa? Or would I be granted permission to leave for a few weeks and return once I am able?

Is anyone familiar with this scenario?

    I would appreciate the assistance.

    Cheers in advance,

    Andy

  3. Agoda and many other OTA's (online travel agents) are still showing pre-covid prices. As per a MUCH earlier post - book or enquire direct at hotels that appeal to you. Even better still, download the Marriott Bonvoy App, join Onyx Rewards, or join other hotel group loyalty schemes and the deals there are even better with no cost to join up.

That's my 5 dollars' worth. And before this sh*tshow began I worked in hotels.

    You're welcome

  4. I live in Hua Hin and registered on expatvac on August 1st. Got my appointment email yesterday - so I guess the key is patience, as with everything else here in Thailand! I'm assuming you'll get your appointment around one month after registering, unless a ramp-up is on the cards. FYI, my appointment is next Tuesday morning (September 7th). The email clearly stated that I will be injected with Pfizer vaccine.

  5. Hi there, very happy if someone could help me with my two part question.

    1) I'm currently living in Hua Hin, and my existing 90 day Non-O visa expires on 21st - what documents and money do I need to prepare for renewal, and how long can I realistically expect to be given?

    2) Once I get a work permit, is it the employer's responsibility to get me further visa extensions (and what kind of visas are those, Non-B?), or would I be better off trying to organise a one year spouse visa?

    Many thanks in advance...

  6. Many famous Radio 1 and particularly Capital Radio DJ's had their starts on UBN - one of the most well known controllers of UBN was the late Roger Scott, a long time DJ on Capital, and responsible for introducing London to the great Nicky Horne.

I too worked for a pirate station in London in 1984/5 called Skyline Radio, operated by former members of Caroline, Jackie and many others. I made it into the last years of Pirate radio and will never forget the fun and games, and almost getting arrested twice!

These days, I present the weekday breakfast show on Surf 102.5FM in Hua Hin...

  7. I just came in from Hong Kong on Wednesday with my two dogs on Cathay as excess baggage. But I had to hand them over to a dog transportation company to be taken home (to Hua Hin) whilst I am in quarantine in BKK. I suggest you do the same. You're not even allowed out of the room for the first 5 days, so there's no way you'll be able to walk the dog. Send the dog home (if there's someone at home to take care of Rover for you) whilst you complete your quarantine.

  8. Hi All, I wonder if you can help me. I am relocating to Thailand in March with my family, and have two medium/large dogs which we want to bring with us. I am not using a pet relocation company due to the excessive cost, and have been searching around the Thai government websites but found nothing relevant. Could anyone direct me to a checklist of what's required to bring pets into Thailand from a rabies-free country (in this case, Hong Kong)?

    Thanks very much in advance...

    Andy
