Visa Update

I received my single entry o visa today. Applied on 20/10/23 so about 19 days. I showed about £2800 in bank. They did ask for extra documents. Son’s I D card or passport which I not have yet and mothers I D card which I sent. Overall easy process and I fly 2 weeks tomorrow. Thanks for all replies .

I appreciate all answers and thanks. Still not 100% what to apply for. Probably try the non o single with 3 k and see what they say. I know it’s pointless trying to call so will have to just apply. If they say no I will then attempt the tourist.

Yes different answers makes it a little confusing. Some people say 5k some not as much. And yes my aim is to have a visa whatever it is. Will try never to enter exempt only if in an emergency. 

£5000 is that the requirement for certain. If that’s the case will try to get a tourist. Now the problem is the return flight dated 90 days but visa only 60. 

So Ray would you say 3k would be ok. Does that extract say you only need £500 for single entry. Seems a bit low for a 90 day visa

Will need a return anyway as I’m planning to leave on nov 23 and return feb 21 but was gonna purchase closer to return but can get now no problem. Just not sure if 3 k is enough. Obviously will have more when going. Not sure if I should wait a week or 2 to have more on bank statement.  Yes a little surprised to be pulled at Phuket airport. Female IO had one look. Seen I had been out country for 2 nights and told supervisor. Yes could have done land entry but was easy to jump on a flight. There was 6-7 people pulled with me. I did have return flight and with all my other documents they let me through.

Did border bounce in June this year  KL for 2 nights. Was pulled on return to Phuket. Made to wait for one hour. Nothing major as had all documentation about child and return flight to uk. I just think it is an easier by obtaining a visa before entering. By the way that was my first visa exempt for 6 years. Been on long term visas before that. I am based in Phuket

I would like to stay 90 days. I understand I could get tourist for 60 then extend but might just be easier with the single entry o. I have all documents here. 

Hello. Just going to apply for a single non o visa from London Thai Consulate based on having a Thai child. Only single entry for 90 days as will return to work after that. I was wondering how much should I show on bank statement. I have 3 k at the moment or should I show more and do I need a return flight. Thanks very much for all your replies.

I totally understand your situation at your immigration office but I tell you at mine they need it to be seasoned for 2 months. I have done it for the last 2 years. Yes I agree it is probably the law but that does not mean nothing when they insist on it. Just a warning to people not to be caught out and check with the local immigration they will use

The 400k needs to be seasoned for 2 months in my local immigrant office to gain an extension for 12 months based on being the father of Thai child. It might not be by the book but it is definitely the rule. 

I would check with your local immigration as some do require that the 400k has to be in the bank for 2 months before applying for extension based on being the father of your child. Maybe not by law but some immigration offices do require it as mine did

I know that you will have to go through the court to legalize you being the father. Your name on the birth certificate is not enough. Then get an single o visa from your country which you can then convert to a 12 month extension based on being the child’s parent. You will have to put 400k in your Thai bank which in my case has to be seasoned for 2 months before applying.

There is threads on this but if you can’t find them maybe start a new one and wait for one of the very helpful experts on this site to help you out

Hello

O visa based on father of child expires on June 9th. Looking to return to UK mid feb returning in May to Thailand. Will put the 400k in before I leave in Thai bank. Has to be seasoned for 2 months in Phuket. As long as the money is in the bank is there any issues with me returning after seasoning period. Basically do I have to be in country for seasoning period?

Also can I get 2nd single re entry permit on visa. Previously returned on single entry in December. They might sound like simple questions but just need to be sure. Thanks

So just to confirm if i apply on the 27th of may my visa should be granted on the 26th of june .

If they go by current visa 9th of june should be 9th of july.

Just need a rough idea as would like to return home to work.

Ps. once i have the under consideration stamp would you advise me not to touch the 400k until i have been granted the visa

Currently i have a one year visa based on thai child.

It runs out on the 9th of june.

My 400k will have neen in my bank  for 2 months by the 27th of May.

I was just wondering when i go to immigration on the 27th how long before i get the new extension if everything is in order.

Do they give another under consideration stamp and if they do how long before they gramt me the extension.

Have a single non o based on father to child which I received in January from Vientiane. Have extended at immigration the 60 days which will finish 6th June.

Am I ok till July 31st under current amnesty

You are correct and the police order does not require it but the IO at Phuket Immigration does require it so i am just advising people maybe check at their local immigration office what is required in advance to cover themselves.Hope this helps.

I don't like to disagree with you but I was told at Phuket Immigration yesterday that I needed the 400k to be seasoned for 2 month for first time yearly extension for child. I have posted all this in a thread which I started. Some might say it is not correct and they are not following the rules but I tried to explain this and I tell you now they was not having any of it.

Luckily I went 4 days early for my 60 day extension and am rushing around trying to get the 400k over here today. 

Different offices have different rules but it is worth checking first and I nearly got caught out.Hope this helps someone

Update

I went to Phuket Immigration this morning. Arrived at 10am thinking that was the time they open. Obviously I was very wrong and there was a lot of people there already.

It wasn't pleasant . I tried to go upstairs to extend my single o entry for 60 days and IO stopped me. I explained what I was doing and he just said come back tomorrow too busy. I said I had my child with me and he told to wait. After 5 mins he told me to go up.

I told my partner and child to wait near the bike parking out of the way.

After nearly an hour wait I seen a female I0. I received the 60 days but she told me that my 40k international transfers for one year extension had to be 12 months and 400k had to be seasoned for 2 month. There was no leeway on this. I have visa till 6th of June and because Monday is holiday here she did say as long as I have it in the bank by Tuesday 7th I can apply when I return in 60 days.  Luckily I went 4 days before my current visa is up.  Am now rushing around trying to get the 400k in Thai bank by tomorrow to be on the safe side. Besides all the paperwork and legalization papers which I have what other things do I need
