  1. That is correct. Or you could leave and reenter the country or before the 26th of November and get a new one year entry.
No need to leave the country unless you want to.
You only need to do reports of staying longer than 90 days in the country to immigration every 90 days.
If you do want to travel after your visa expires you will need a re-entry permit to keep your last entry valid when you enter the country.

Thanks Joe, really appreciate the advise, very helpful

  2. Hi Tanoshi
Thanks very much for your help, all new info to me
    You say that quote:
With the O-A although the visa is valid for a year each entry grants permission of stay for 1 year

I came last November and stayed for 3 months then went back to the UK for 6 months, i returned back to Thailand on the 4th of September, so based on your quote, can i stay here until the 3rd of Sept 2020, even though my visa expires on the 26th of November, and if yes do i have to leave every 3 months for a stamp?

    Thanks

  3. Please can anyone advise me of the process I need to undertake to apply for an extension of stay based on my retirement visa

My first visa was obtained in the UK and is due to expire on the 26th of Nov i believe i can Apply for an extension on the 13th of October (45 days before expiry date), and I am based in Buriram if this is relevant.

    My questions are:

Can I apply online?, and if yes any links would be appreciated, also I know i need my bank book showing an updated balance, but what other documents do i need and finally if i have to go to the immigration office, do i just turn up or should i book an appointment

Any other relevant info would be greatly appreciated

    Thanks in advance

  4. I'm returning to Thailand in September on a retirement visa and need a car but I cannot afford cash. When i was here last time i enquired with several dealers in the Buriram area regards finance but was told i needed to be working. Can anyone recommend a car company who will accept someone on a retirement visa or is anyone wanting to sell on a car they have on finance that I could take over payments.

Any other suggestions would be very helpful

Thanks to everyone in advance and Please PM me if you can help

  5. If you have an extension of stay issued by immigration in Thailand you can change to one based in retirement (being over 50) in January.

If you currently are using a 1 year multiple entry visa you can apply for a 1 year extension of stay based on retirement towards the end of any 90 day stay.

    Hi Elvia
Thanks for that, I will go down that route, what documents do I need for the extension apart from proof of savings of 800,000 baht, I cannot find any info from the thai embassies regarding extensions of stay
    Cheers for your help

  6. What exactly are you referring to when you say a "retirement visa?"  The nearest thing to what could be called a retirement visa would be a non-Imm O-A, but that's generally only available in your home country. If the o/p is in Thailand, he would probably want an extension of stay based on retirement at an immigration office, not a visa.

    Hi Suradit
Thanks for the reply and info, yes I'm referring to a non Imm O-A visa.

  7. I have a non O visa based on marriage that expires in January 2019, I'm in the UK now but will be in Thailand From November until my visa expires. I want to renew but i'm separated from my thai wife so cannot do as a marriage visa

I will be 55 in April so could apply for a retirement visa.

    My questions are:

Do i need to apply for a 60 day tourist visa to cover me from Feb until April or can I apply for the retirement visa early before i reach retirement age

And when and where is it best to apply for the visa.

    The UK or Thailand

    Thanks

  8. Nearest and least costly is the Ban Phu Nam Ron in Kanchanaburi province to Myanmar. It costs 960 baht for transport across no mans land and back included is the 500 baht for the border pass to Myanmar.
To Cambodia the Ban Laem crossing is best. A visa on arrival has a official fee of $30 but may cost more.
If you want use a organized trip I can recommend this company that goes to both crossings. https://www.thaivisaservice.com/

Thanks very much for the advise[emoji106]
