Many other countries are showing interest in this approach, as the potential benefit seems to outweigh any potential harm.... What's to lose in this madhouse environment?

Had a Sinovac jab two weeks ago, and will have an AstraZeneca jab next week. Will let you know if I grow a second penis.

The Trudeau government in Canada, was just as negligent as Thailand for procuring vaccines. At first, it was just a flu & would probably never come to Canada so he gave most of our PPE, ventilators etc, to China. He refused to close our borders & just like that, 26.000 people are dead. He paid millions to buy the Chinese Sinovac junk. China backed out of the deal, but kept the millions & Jinping laughed and laughed. By now, Trudeau was in a pickle while people were dying! So he overbid other countries, stole from poorer countries & got his hands on the Astra Zeneca vaccine that still isn't approved by the Americans. As a show of why we should trust him, he took a shot of AZ on national, state owned TV. But then his dick fell off & his wife left him so no more Astra Zeneca in Canada. Then we got a little bit of Pfizer. Pfizer said 28 days between shots but our dancing prince, knowing he was in deep do-do, says "don't listen to that science <deleted>, you're good for 3 months between shots" Sound familiar Thailand? Next it was "Hey, it sucks that your face fell off & your mom died of a stroke but here's the deal! Now you can mix it up a bit! If you didn't die from the Astra Zeneca vaccine, you can get something even better for your second shot!

So yeah, Astra Zeneca is done, expired & going to waste but he's still trying to unload it, such the humanitarian farce that he is.

Meanwhile Canadians are facing a 4th wave, international flights arrive every day, full of infected travellers. I came home to Canada for a few months to visit my son, almost two years ago. Between the incompetence of the Thai dictatorship and the pending Canadian dictatorship it's uncertain if my Thai wife and I will ever be together again. But give me one more chance & I will never return to Canada.

  2. I gave up on all the headaches & <deleted> requirements that change daily for western farangs to live on Thailand. 90 days, then travel to God knows where and hope to get another 90 day visa. Go from bank to bank to bank to find one that will open an account to deposit my 400,000 or 800,000 baht in a country where you can't breathe the air & put your life at risk every time you drive to 7-11.  I'll bring her to Canada. Her Canadian visa is good for 6 months and expires in 5 years. If Thailand doesn't want us, there are better places to live.

  3. If the seasoning period for an extension based on marriage was 3 months and a non-o visa only allows a 90 day stay in the country, there would not be enough time to apply for the extension. Even a 2 month period would make it tight. One would have to be married within a week of arrival, run around to a dozen banks to find one that will allow you to open a an account, transfer the 400,000 baht then wait and hope there aren't more hassles from IO before your visa expires.

  4. This is all encouraging news! I will take a drive to the Thai Consulate in Edmonton this morning and see what they tell me today. ? I'm going back to Bangkok/Pathum Thani in December so can't apply for the visa until September (3 month validity) but at least I will know what I need financially and plan accordingly.

  5. Thanks for the replies and advice. I'll continue the quest for the Non O here in Canada. You need to show $25,000 CAD (650k baht) or equivalent annual income for the Non O Visa and then 400,000 baht in a Thai bank account for the marriage extension.

Last time in Thailand this spring, I attempted to open a bank account to deposit the 400,000. First trip to Bangkok Bank they wanted a letter from Cdn Embassy to confirm the validity of my passport. Second trip and different person said I couldn't open an account with just a 60 day tourist visa. A perfect "Catch-22." This time I'll go with a Non-O visa and try again. Possibly rent an apartment next door to an immigration office as it seems I'll he spending a good part of my life there. ?

  6. I was just reading that a tourist visa can be changed to a 90 day non-immigrant visa by merely visiting Laos or Cambodia for a day or two. In Canada the process takes weeks considering a notarized bank letter, notarized criminal record check, notarized medical certificate etc etc. How do they get around all this on an overnight trip to Laos?? I plan to  marry and live in Thailand with my recently retired Thai GF of 12 years. The 90 day visa is just one small step in a beauracratic nightmare! Is it easier to apply for it there rather than in your home country?
