Awesome comment by the mayor and always a priceless source of entertainment.
Anyways i still do believe Pattaya has huge potential IF the government finally legalizes gambling.
Casinos will be a perfect fit and just like in Singapore the whole gambling indusrty can be regulated to fleece only foreigners and protect locals from losing all their money.

Love Thai Visa with the hearsay and rumors....
Nana & Black Panther from Wakanda (or not ;0) the stuff of legends.
I am sure some many old timers will be able to tell the stories & history of Nana area & Lek Nana and how it all became what it is today.
Fico Corporation is easy to find, as is Panthera. These are not public companies, not everything needs to be advertised.

The future of Nana Plaza is pretty clear: Redevelopment into either a hotel, or more likely, a luxury condominium......

What a ridiculous offer. It works out to 2739 baht a night if you stayed the full 365 days. 83,333 a month for a 35sqm studio with no kitchen. You could literally walk next door and get a similar sized condo with full amenities for less than 20,000.
Not to mention there are multiple 5-star hotels in the area currently offering lower nightly rates.
Yes, this is all for media exposure and desperately trying to get some kind of cash flow.
Let's see how many packages they are actually able to sell.
With limited travel and all, no one needs to pre-book a room for an entire year and condos offer a much better deal.

Giving the proximity and increasing importance of China, studying Mandarin will be much more prioritized in the years to come.
I would say the average Thai not involved in the Tourism industry has very little incentive to learn English.
One can lead a happy Thai life without speaking a word of English to the annoyance of native speakers who still take it for granted that they are understood and able to communicate in their mother tongue around the globe.

There was a Tonino Lamborghini Bar in Bangkok once, on Ekamai, and - well - it is permanently closed.
This is basically a hotel development with branded Lamborghini products ( coffee mugs, towels etc) by a Phuket based real estate & hospitality developer.
Not that exciting really and will probably never happen anyways......

Pointless... I would say less then 1% of their guests are foreigners

There are now already 104 Alternative State Quarantine (ASQ) hotels in Bangkok and most of them have close to no business.
https://thaiest.com/blog/list-of-alternative-state-quarantine-asq-hotels-thailand
It is highly unlikely that there will be a rush of visitors, even if quarantine is reduced to 10 days.
The real winners are the partnering hospitals, the cut is 20k - 25k THB per guest for a standy nurse and 2 Covid tests.
A hotel with 15 ASQ guests will then make the hospital 300k THB and so on...... you do the math

They will settle and this will become a quirky news footnote.
As for damage to Thai Tourism, don't think this will have any impact since the borders remain closed anyways.
However another reason to finally dump Tripadvisor, the forum of the super whingers ????

I posted about this a couple of weeks ago, but no one was interested then!
Because you guys don't think ahead....as usual.
But now, oh no!
Central has decided to to pursue other more family friendly activities????
There was a time when the whole area was full of beer, music, food and fun.
But now another thing of the past.
The Wishbeer beer garden across the road will be a craft beer pop up at 300 THB a glass or something and not much fun.
Just take a walk to Beer Republic, better.

Considering the high growth rates in the years after the Coup in 2014, a less than 2% increase for this year is not a great performance and in line with what is said in general about Thailand Tourism in 2019.
Let's see how things work out in 2020!

I am scared now!
Anyone knows any good place to buy heaters in Bangkok?
My wife said just put charcoal BBQ after cooking in my bedroom for warmth, but not sure about this....

Actually pretty sad you didn't get arrested for public urination and your ass kicked a little bit.
Try again and let us know about when it happened, it might be a lot more entertaining......

This a graph for Thailand's Tourism Arrivals!
Even if less than 38M tourists will come in 2019 it is still the second highest figure ever.
Thailand Tourism is not in trouble at all, but we probably will not see +5% annual increases and maybe even a little reduction, who knows.
A bit of oversupply here and there, especially for some who wanted to cash in on the Chinese Tour Group segment maybe.
How is this 15 year period a failure and how is there doom and gloom?
Where do you guys get your information from?
The decline of the Western tourist? Less girlie bars? Can't drink at 3pm?
Who cares?
Whingers......
