  1. Maybe I did not explain well enough,

I have seen the seating plan ( on Etihad and checkmytrip websites) and it is not the same as on seatguru, seatplans etc.

There is a 3-4-3 seat set up but the last 5 rows on either side have a window seat and an aisle seat but no middle seat , I have never seen this before and have flown umpteen times on 777's.

I just do not understand why there is a gap in the middle.

    Thanks for all your replies.

Sorry , I forget to add that I did call Etihad and the person I spoke to said that there was in fact no middle seat but I am not sure if He was just going by the seat map or had first hand experience.

  3. Hi guys, I have booked with Etihad on a 777 and they have assigned me seats near the back and they say I am in a seat with nobody next to me.

I thought this strange but when I checked the seat plan there are in fact no B or J (Middle seats) in the last five rows.

I tried to post a link to the seatmap but failed ( you can only get it on Etihads website if you go in as if you are booking a flight)

Can anyone shed any light on this for me ? seems like a strange set up.

    Thanks.

  4. They used to be the best, I did the same journey this month and found them no better than Etihad or even Emirates, I do not like the long bus transfers in Doha and the IFE selection is not all that good, I flew Business for 2 sectors and that was poor, no dramas though.

Very average considering the extra I paid over Etihad prices.

    Have a good trip.

BTW Doha airport is not up too much , it is small with zero to do really, there is a burger place but not McD.New airport opening soon I believe.

  5. Thank you for your replies, there are some decent people on this forum.

I booked and received an invoice with all the details within seconds, they are part of the Thomas Cook group.

BTW, the flight was with Etihad, Man - Bkk ,£476.99 return, first 2 weeks in June.

    Again , many thanks :jap:

  6. Hi Guys ,

I have just seen a flight advertised by netflights MAN- BKK in June , it is more than 100 gbp cheaper than anywhere else.

If a thing seems to be too good to be true etc etc .

Has any one used this company before ? I have done a search but found no real first hand info.

    Thanks

  7. AIr France have some good deals Manchester to BKK via Paris CDG in October, more than 100 gbp less than my usual Emirates flights, they are using A343,s for these flights.

Has anybody flown this route ? I am interested in the entertainment system and seat comfort, pitch in particular.

    Thanks guys.

  8. Grrr. Air Asia , they have just cancelled the whole of my return flight to Cambodia in June.

I got an e mail basically saying ,sorry your flight is cancelled , call these numbers to find out more'

Can I get through ? well not for half a dozen attempts so far.

Also their tracking system does not have a record of my Log in details even though they e mailed the password to me :)

I suppose for the pittance I paid I can put up with a few glitches but those that paid full price , :D:D

  9. Is there a reason why Etihad fares for next Jan -Feb are over 700GBP from Manchester and only 389gbp (Etihad website) from Heathrow?

I think Etihad are better than Emirates for comfort and service but not by 225gbp which is the Emirates price from Man at the same time.

Looks like it is back to Emirates for us poor people. :D

PS, saying that, I just returned frm LOS on Emirates ( my wife had to use her airmiles up) we got upgraded on the way out on the A380 , My God , that is the way to travel, it was amazing the best business class I have been in by a long long way.

Brilliant service, the food was mouthwatering , the seats amazing.

Then on the return, in Economy, first leg food (breakfast) was omelette or noodles the worst food I have tasted on any airline I have flown, second leg ,egg roll (breakfast) the same meal more or less as the first leg ,was disgusting.

You get what you pay for I suppose but this London / Manchester price difference is ridiculous.

Without checking for myself you have almost certainly made a mistake somewhere and are not comparing apples and apples - same class, same dates for both legs of the trip?

I double, triple checked and the numbers are correct at the time I posted, unfortunately :)

  11. I dont get it , why not just use a company like Lastminute.com?

    No details needed

    :)

Information is always good to have....and not everybody knows what exact dates they will be able to travel. So it's good to see what the possibilities are. Also there are those who don't want to have a specified return day....but want to keep it flexible.

What I would like to know is if there are any "open return" tickets .....good for a year or more like they once used to sell. I understand they are still possible, but you must pay a premium fare for a ticket like that.

Sometimes "the cheapest way" is not a bargain if it limits your choices later.

    :D

Gotcha, but there is a tad too much going on for me, I use Lastminute as a first search , you can click on "flexible dates" and a matrix of fares appear then the airline shows when you put the cursor on it.

Kayak has some good info also, like a fare history and last cheapest price graph.

  12. I was sat at a roadside cafe in Pattaya when a motorbike was hit by a car and then crashed into me breaking my leg, it had to be pinned and I had to extend my stay in LOS, my insurance company organised and paid for everything including a business class flight home.

Cost for premium 15 GBP, I canr imagine what the bill would have been if I had to pay myself.

A year or so later I had to have my appendix removed again all taken care of after a phonecall, cost was 22 GBP.

  13. Glad this thread started again.

I think the current value against the bt is about where it's at but the shorters are clearly out again.

In all honesty the Telegraph always runs the worst case scenario.

It could be the pound will dive by as much as 5 - 10% again in general, but I don't think it will lose much against the dollar as both economies are in a similar position. I'm about to change another wad though as I reckon 51bt is in the offing again.

And once again, viewing the pound and the troubles of the UK economy in isolation too, is IMHO a mistake that is always made.

Presumably you refer to USD shorters, certainly, nobody is shorting THB - that being the case then yes, that is a problem.

I managed to squeeze thru. a closing door last week and booked my transfer at 56.02 - as sure as eggs eggs, every time Mervyn speaks, the Pound falls - we'ld all do well to figure out his speaking schedule for the month and trade on that basis alone!

Seconded , every single time he opens his mouth the pound takes a battering , er, The econommy is showing signs of recovery (Hurrah the pound is gaining) BUT the recession is deeper than we thought and will take longer to get out ( and the pound is struggling again).

It is almost as if they want a weak pound :)
