And, I'm still waiting to "learn" how to identify it, as it probably won't glow purple or blue when threatened, if it's dead?

I caught one of these once, and apart from the fact that they are very small, I recall that even when you cannot see the blue rings, there are a number of brownish circular patterns on them. The overall size of the octopus is a giveaway. It is apparent that they are not a juvenile but a tiny adult.

  2. On second thought, here are the first of many, many reports . They are hardly random.  And these are not even the first page of Google results. Would you like me to post all the links from pages 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 ???

can you provide some solid proof please, not scaremongering tiktok content.

    thanks.

I am not going to hunt around to look for evidence to try to convince you, Bob, as I suspect that you are either a closed-minded person or one of the forum trolls.

I have read quite a few news articles on Yahoo News and other news sites about young people having very sudden and serious lung issues due to vaping. I'll let you search for them yourself.

  4. I have a friend who is going to Thailand to be with his long-term girlfriend, and possibly get married in her hometown in a Buddhist ceremony.

I just found out that he has a heart condition. This is not covered by health insurance as it is a pre-existing condition. He's not broke but not flush with money either, so is probably going to be reluctant to go to hospital if he has problems when he is there.

In the past, people have died or developed serious problems as a result of not going to hospital promptly.

When I was married to a Thai lady I remember that I went to a public hospital for a minor matter and as we were married, I either didn't have to pay or it was a nominal charge. But I can't recall if that was on the strength of our being married in the Buddhist ceremony or if it was later when were were legally married. Can anyone please advise which type of marriage entitles a foreigner to free or nominal charge health care for something as serious as heart problems ? Or can any foreigner....even a tourist....front up at a public hospital and get treated along with the hordes of locals ?

  5. There seems to be debate about whether the smoke is caused locally or by neighbouring countries. The answer is simple :

There is a constant background level caused by other countries. Then that is made far worse by local burning and the topography of Chiang Mai.

Cut out the local burning and things will be much better, as evidenced by people who say they have gone elsewhere in the region and it has been not been nearly so bad.

Sad and horrific way to die. RIP to this troubled soul.

I don't like to mention it but from watching, reading and listening to other accounts of farangs killing themselves over Thai 'girlfriends' here, many of those Thai women are that heartless and callous that they may well be back in a bar, on Thai Friendly within hours of their deaths. We are just their financial sources and love/affection is a ruse. Many many hoodwinked virtuous white knights here.

Many foreign guys have never before run into such self-centredness and (dare I say it) narcissism, and this just goes to show what a devastating effect narcissists can have on peoples' lives. The realization that someone who you thought had some feelings for you, had absolutely no feelings for you, is awful.

  7. Hi folks, I got married to a Thai lady and moved back to Australia with her but we separated.  Divorce in Australia is a bit expensive and it will be complicated by needing a translation of our Thai marriage certificate and so on. So I imagine it will be much easier to get a divorce in Thailand .....the only problem being that I am now in Australia and not planning to go back to Thailand.

Could someone please advise me on how I might do it remotely ? Are there agents who will help for a fee ? Or are they likely to overcharge, compared to what they do ?

  8. I can understand people misleading others in order to avoid responsibility for mistakes, but it seems that Thai people have developed this to an art form.

Don't they eventually run into problems, even with other Thais, let alone Westerners ?  Sometimes it goes on past the point of absurdity.

I'm interested in other peoples' thoughts and experiences on the topic, without bashing Thais too much. The same thing goes on in the Philippines and other Asian countries.

  9. The Wikipedia link is about the woman in the Youtube clip, and I don't think it is intended to give a critique of vaccinations or anti-vax. It does seem to expose the woman as lacking in credibility though. She hasn't answered questions or given credible, peer-reviewed research on anything much at all. And she hasn't answered questions....

  10. Recently a friend who I thought is quite sane, and who has a slight medical background, shared some anti-vax information with me. At first I thought it was a wind-up but then I realized that they were serious, and that also there are medically trained people in the US who support the anti vax movement. How is this possible ?

One particular lady doesn't have a good rap in Wikipedia though.

Really....I'm completely flabbergasted. It's like Trump's claims about elector fraud....there is no evidence. But how can people like my friend, who appear educated and sane, follow it all ? I'm having major cognitive dissonance here.
