  1. and sitting looking at them on a phone I can tell that when they say next day that they actually deliver on that how?

Your answer - just search for it - could be used to answer any question asked.

I'm trying to find a recommendation for one, not just a list - which I have found by searching on line.

Thanks for the reply but next time just scroll on by

  2. I am wondering if the reason my 2nd thailand pass hasn't been approved then is because it is an additional one.

I've had one to arrive at BKK issued but the one to get back into Thailand from Laos by land over the bridge is still under review.........then again could be any number of reasons and a few of you seem to have had multiple passes issued with no problems.

Getting annoying now as I can't confirm much of the trip if I don't know if I can get back in.....

  3. Has anyone had one of these approved?

Our one arriving by air at BKK was approved very quickly, yet the one from 29th April for a land entry is still set a "reviewing"

However, my wifes application for the same land border but traveling on a Lao passport was approved within the hour.....

I've sent an email to the email address they show but wondering if anyone had had success applying for a land border thai pass?

    Thanks

  4. Applied for a Thaipass for my daughter and I arriving in BKK, approved within a day.

Since then I've applied for a Thaipass for the two of us coming over the bridge from Laos, that was 4 days ago and still just says reviewing.

Applied for a Thaipass for my wife yesterday for the same border crossing and approved almost instantly although she is a Lao national.

Should I just reapply or will that throw a spanner in the works?

    THanks

  5. We are arriving in BKK as it was a last minute trip and flights to Vientiane were 4k plus no guarantees of them issuing us a visa.

Going via BKK and then to Udon 3k cheaper....we've got the Thai Pass and if we can't get over the bridge then the family can come over and holiday in Thailand for a few weeks with us.

I'd rather be in Laos though hence trying to find some actual information rather than guess work.

    Thanks

  6. Seen quite a bit of talk about it opening on the 1st May.....but not sure if it actually has or not.

Also can't find anywhere what the procedure would be going from Thailand to Lao.

Wondering if it would revert to the visa on arrival at the bridge or if there would be hoops to be jumped through before arrival?

    Anyone any ideas?

Arriving on the 6th at BKk and trying to work out which side of the river to book accommodation ????

    Thanks

  7. We are planning a trip to Australia for a month over Christmas....
Myself, our two children and my parents, all of whom are UK passport holders plus my wife who is still traveling on her Laos passport. We live in the UK and she has indefinite leave to remain here but as yet no UK passport.
Have looked on the Australian Gov website and it seems that we will need to apply for a Visitor visa (subclass 600) for her with the rest of us applying in the usual way for the electronic one.
We will be staying in a house owned by my parents whilst we are there, having traveled there as a family and will all be returning back to the UK together for the kids to start school again in January.
I'll be calling the Australian embassy in London next week, however some very cheap flight tickets have become available and I won't be able to speak to the embassy before I need to make the decision on the tickets, which are non refundable....
Does anyone know the likelihood of them granting a tourist visa in this situation?

Before we moved back to the UK from Thailand we had a tourist visa for the UK granted, then a settlement visa and we've since had several Schengen visas and also a US visa in the last couple of years for the various holidays we have taken but I have no idea whether it would just be a straightforward application process for Australia or if its extremely difficult to get visas for passport holders of countries not on the pre-approved list and eligible for the electronic visa....
We live in Scotland so there isn't even a consulate that we can visit here to ask for advice either, hence having to call London....
Any advice or experience or suggestions?
  8. We applied start of third week in November and visa granted on the 9th January.

It was an unmarried partner visa, had been in Thailand since 2005, ILR granted subject to KOL, assuming that the length of time for the decision was down to either the ILR or third party support element.

Partner arrived back in UK today :). No issues on arrival although immigration did call and ask a few questions due to her lack of English.

  9. 7by7, not wishing to question you but I have to be doubly sure about this just in case I apply and the staggering £970 is not returned whilst ILR rejected...

Your wife's visa says "subject to KOL." She would have been given ILE had she already satisfied KOL, but she hadn't. Now that she has she can apply for ILR. However, she does not need to do so now and can wait until she has been in the UK for 2 years if she wishes; provided she does so before her current visa expires, of course.

    Hi

We are in the same situation as this with the visa saying "KOL required"

To ne honest I have read so many pages on settlement visas my head is fir to burst but somewhere amongst it all I had thought that I had read that being effectively granted the ILR subject to KOL meant that the fee mentioned by Skypist was not payable. If this isnt the case then its simply the time frame that is different as you do not wait the two years (unless of course you want to).

    Is that correct?

Because if so what would have happened if the KOL had been satisfied at the time of original application for the visa, they would have demanded the £970 on top of the 40500 baht? Or would they have waived that fee?

  10. Having looked online for sample of A1 test levels it seems that it is just an extremely basic level of English that is required for this low level certification.

Hello, my name is etc etc

Except when you listen to the BULATS test its all about 1st quarter performance etc, not exactly basic level English.

What if any, are the alternative choices that are available in Bangkok where the test is more elementary?

    Thanks
