Can anyone explain to me how extending the cab life in any way helps a taxi driver out financially at this exact moment in time in paying his rent and bills school and bank loans ?

For taxi drivers that choose to buy their own vehicle instead of renting from a taxi fleet company, this will allow them to continue to use their vehicle for longer when the installments has all been paid off.

On average, the monthly installments are around 15,000-18,000 THB per month for 84 months. This usually takes up more than half of their income.

By allowing vehicles to operate for longer, the drivers are able to save more than 10,000 THB per month for a better quality of life and a bigger down payment when the 12 years is up. The new Corolla Altis can easily be driven for 12 years in safe and road worthy condition. Passengers would not notice, feel, or know the difference between 9 year old Corolla and a 12 year old one, unless they knew the production cycle.

It's a small change that gives tons of benefits.

Thailand better start using those THAI English speakers in their school EP programs. Forget the stupid foreign teacher BS. It was all a game using those foreign teachers who were showing “Schindler’s list” in the classes and ballin like a baby w the Thai students who have no idea about what happened

    pure drama!

There are many passionate and smart Thais who are fluent in English who would love to teach, but many will not accept anything lower than 50,000 a month because they can earn more in the private sector (regular office jobs).

And if the government was more than willing to provide this minimum for them, it will cause issues with pay gap. Many will question why this and that person is earning more.

  3. Hi Scott, have you been able to transfer the money out of your Thai bank account?

As other members have pointed out (Thank you!) you can transfer money out of your Thai bank account using DeeMoney through our mobile app. The procedure requires you to have a Thai mobile number and to be able to receive an SMS containing an OTP (this can be done by enabling Roaming on your device).

Only document required to sign up is either a Thai Drivers License or Passport (Visa status is irrelevant). Our staff will then need to call you to verify identity and email you the sign-up form to finalize the registration process. Do inform our staff of your situation and we will walk you through all the steps so that everything goes smoothly.

You can sign up at deemoney.com/sign-up

I believe that if they "volunteer"  instead of  picking the wrong colour ticket  they have to serve less time.

The term is translated from Thai. Volunteer in this case means they did not choose to deal with the "lottery" and instead asked to join. People that picked the red card are not called volunteers.

  5. Usually financial services will block a user's account if fraudulent activities are suspected. Some organizations simply try to put a blanket policy based on citizenship to avoid implementing complex systems and reduce human input. For example, some nationalities in Thailand are outright banned from sending money overseas as enforced by the Bank of Thailand, regardless of where they are sending it to.

Other services that do not have a blanket policy and instead, have algorithms in place to detect suspicious activities and automatically block accounts after certain parameters are met. We assume the parameters are lenient otherwise many more would have their accounts blocked.

Unfortunately they are in under no obligation to inform users of the exact reason.

He said most of the damage occurred from parking. There was no sign of a drop or accident, though. I know scratches can happen easily, but chips in paintwork usually take a bit more of a bang.

My bike, 2018 CB650F, has 12,000 KM on the clock, bought in December 2018. Matte Black paint (which is VERY EASY to scratch, Has no padding on the tank to protect from zippers/belts. Been in two accidents, dropped once when parking.

Guess the amount of scratches? None. There is ONE scratch on the gauge cluster that was from my helmet lock swinging at it. Other than that, you would need a microscope to see any scratch caused by my jacket zipper, belt, or rocks.

Either Honda has the best matte black paint in the world, or something does not add up here.

As for your questions, the price is definitely reasonable. Anything not a Honda/Yamaha depreciates like crazy here, so it's normal for a TNT25 to be just 30,000 THB. You can compare it to a CB300F, which are going for 50,000 THB. It is better in every single way. More power, more efficient, cheaper to service, more reliable, smoother, and Honda dealers that service the 300F can be found as often as 7-elevens.

  7. He is the owner of the exhaust brand "Daivo" and runs a YouTube channel called Noi Daivo. I follow him and I enjoy his content. He's a cool guy.

That said, when it comes to riding, despite his experience in racing, is dangerous. Doing wheelies, speeding, not riding safely in general. Plenty of clips of him doing wheelies on his S1000RR at over 120km/h.

Yes you can ride like a saint and still die here, but he is not setting an example of safe riding himself. We've all been there. We didn't have a 200 HP superbike when we were young and stupid, and that's probably why many of us are still alive. Unfortunately for him, he had a rocket at a very young age and learned it the hard way.

He's not 100% paralyzed from the waist down though, saw videos of him walking with a bit of assistance.

This ad is misleading, I found the minimum transaction 1000 baht. Bbk bank only accepts the QR code transfer BUT that does not work correctly. This only works with a smart phone my old friend who wants to send money to his Indonesian family only uses a desktop computer. If short it is a lot of work to use the application, best they reinvent it.

Hi cmrichsaw, thank you for the feedback. Our ad doesn't explicitly advertise the minimum transaction amount. We only advertise the transfer fee, which stands at 125 THB at the moment whether you are transferring 1,000 THB or 800,000 THB. The discount from 250 THB is part of our current promotion which ends on 30th of June.

For security reasons we require customers to sign-in through the app first. Once a user has done this, they can use our money transfer service through our website.

  9. Indeed it is a "one-way street" in the way of policies and restrictions at the corporate and bureaucratic level.

Services like DeeMoney however has streamlined the process and made it very easy and cheap to transfer  money OUT of Thailand.

    You can sign-up here: deemoney.com/sign-up

The sign-up process will include being contacted back by our sales personnel who will guide you through the process and answer any questions you may have.

For transfers to the UK we are seeing average transfer times of less than a few hours. Our fee stands at a firm 125 THB, whether you are transferring 1,000 THB or 700,000 THB.

Is this a cash or electronic transfer? B125 up to 800k one transaction.

Are there any other fees involved on either end assuming my bank won't charge me fees?

How is the x rate determined?

    Transfer to US or Singapore

Why work permit? Assume this information is transferred with the money.

    Website looks pretty shonky.

Info Facebook and Line??? How about a PDF or just another webpage????

Electronic transfers using our app and Cash transactions at our branch at Soi 8 Sukhumvit is also possible.

There is no other fee, 125 THB is the only fee. No fees for the recipient when money has been transferred either.

You can view our exchange rates on our website, it is updated daily.

As for banks, you may need to check the banks' branches in person to get the most reliable information from that bank's branch manager.

If you're interested in DeeMoney, you can sign-up here: https://www.deemoney.com/sign-up/

i would presume she has to show paper she was an employee

and got laid off due to corona

If you have paid social security tax or income tax in any way shape or form you are not qualified to get the 5,000 THB.

This is because the subsidy is not part of the social security system, as people who have been laid off, whether due to the coronavirus or not, are eligible for unemployment benefits.

The unemployment benefits are given in a period of 90 days at 30% of one's latest paycheck but not more than 15,000 THB.

  13. I have never heard of this requirement before.

Alternatively you can try DeeMoney (totally not biased). To sign-up, go to this page: deemoney.com/sign-up

Only identification document is required (Passport or Thai drivers license). No work permit or invoices.

Transfers to the UK have a 125 THB fee right now and it usually arrives within 30 minutes.

Money not arriving at all in some cases.  Extreme delays in other cases.  Some were confirmed by the owner (I presume) who wrote back and was apologizing to people and giving a stock answer of "we have fixed that problem, etc...".  But what I am hearing now here (from 1 person) is that it is better than before?

Hi, during the month of September and October of 2019, our services first started with extreme delays which then ended with a complete shut down. As of November 2019, our services went back to normal.

After our DeeNext launch, our guaranteed transfer time of within the next working day, transfers take no more than 2 working days. We offer an instant 100% refund including the transfer fee if it is delayed, and we have yet to issue a refund so far. In other words, 100% of all our transfers have been within the guaranteed time limit.

Due to the nature of bank holidays, working days, and especially the current pandemic going on, we can only say that it takes "within the next working day" as a guarantee. In actuality, however, most transfers are taking less than 2 hours when done on a working day.

Disclaimer: We do not guarantee the funds to arrive within 2 hours.

  15. Hey ThaiSong, great to hear that you had an smooth experience with us.

And hi all, didn't want to start a new thread, but recently we've noticed a few people saying our rates are the worst due to the daily rates we've been posting everyday on our social media showing that we offer the lowest figure in THB.

To clarify, the THB figure shown on our social media signifies the amount of THB you need to buy 1 of whichever currency, e.g 34.8 THB to get 1 Euro. So, if the THB rate is lower, it means you are getting more of whichever country's currency you are sending to.

We have created a new table to illustrate how exactly we offer the best rates and lowest fees.

  16. Hi Scouse123, if you already have a mobile banking application on your mobile phone (for any Thai bank), there is an option to make payments via QR. In the case of SCBEasy, the option is called "Scan bill / QR payment".

If this option turns on your camera, there is a button on your screen to allow for it to scan a QR code saved in your phone's gallery instead.

Alternatively, if you are able to travel to on our branches, we can process the transaction for you in person.

    Hope that helped.

IMO a BMW Mini is a big step up from a Juke. At 750,000 the Captivas may be sitting in the dealers yards a long time. As far as the rest of the Chevy range, the reductions are a joke and only bring prices in line with other comparable brands.

Mini used to be assembled here and was still sold at over 2 million baht despite not having any import tariffs.

The process and development to make transfers to the UK available were made years prior. The UK has actually been available for transfers since 2018, but it was temporarily unavailable from June til late December 2019.

I’m sure a Toyota Camry could yield the same results. Why BMW?

The system is specifically made for certain vehicles only.

Space - Due to its size, it would not fit in every car and would not have the same mounting system for every car. Again, has to be unique to each vehicle.

Warranty - The car still NEEDS to have a warranty for the electrical system despite having a computer connected to it all the time. As such, not all manufacturers will retain the warranty if you install such a system.

Supplier and vehicle availability - The supplier may indeed have developed the same system for a variety of cars that are cheaper, like an Opel Astra, Dodge Charger, Ford Explorer, etc. But the issue is none of these cars are assembled in Thailand or even have RHD configuration. The government may be exempt from paying import taxes, but maintaining these one-of-a-kind vehicles that don't exist in Thailand will be MUCH more expensive to maintain than any BMW or Merc since these German brands have been assembling vehicles in Thailand for decades.

So, they chose a BMW 330e because the same police in Europe or whatever use the same car and system. Whereas no other police force in the world uses the D-max, or Thailand's Yaris, Camry, or other Thai-born  and bred vehicles.

I also miss Denmark and Sweden also a part of EU

The transfers are only available to countries in the Eurozone (except Slovenia). Since Denmark and Sweden are not in the Eurozone, they were not included.

For marketing purposes we stuck with calling it EU, by no means is this an attempt to mislead; it is merely using a word commonly used by regular people to describe a region, a cluster of countries that share the same currency, not a union/trading bloc.

Pretty much every single Thai bank's current SWIFT exchange rates are better than DeeMoney at present, and I am not sure which number you are referring to by the 'official' rate. However, for non-large transfers, DeeMoney might be a better option because of SWIFT fees - you'd have to run the calculation. http://bankexchangerates.daytodaydata.net/

That depends on time of day due to currency fluctuations. We can assure that at around 9 AM and 10 AM of every work day, DeeMoney offers the best rate. However, as a kind user has calculated previously, even at 1 million baht the difference still favors DeeMoney.

As for speed. For marketing and legal purposes we cannot advertise this, other than our guarantee service to Europe which guarantees within the next working day. But on average, transfers to Europe made on a working day are taking less than 3 hours.
