  1. Has anyone has ever been fined for smoking cigarettes in the "smoke free" zones on Beach Road?

The picture included shows a dozen+ cigarette butts laying on the ground directly in front of the sign.

100K is an annual salary for an average Thai?  Another comical law in Pattaya, probably instituted to please some upper authority.

It makes me laugh every time I see these signs on Beach Road and someone standing directly next to it smoking a cigarette. TiT.

Be aware that less than 90 day leases are not allowed in Condos. Condotel or hotel only.

1000's of condo owners are renting out their units daily etc. I see this happening in condos all around town. Nothing to "be aware off". As you know many things are "not allowed" in Thailand, but 99.99% disregard the rules. As those who know "TiT".

Well, TIT.  I'm sitting at a table at an outdoors Isan restaurant in Bangkok with an ice cold Leo in front of me.  When I mentioned all of the anguish and tooth gnashing in this thread to my wife she said "Don't be silly, the election is next weekend".

    ????

Exactly, TiT! when the last king passed, there were certain bars open and serving, and the mom & pop side soi liquor stores were in full swing. Why would some silly election change that?

Funny to read a number of posts worried about not getting their Archa at the local 7-11. 5555+

Stand your ground, and live your life. Don't argue, don't discuss, avoid her family.

Don't give her or the kid any money, it's gotta be your way or the highway.

I'm afraid that he gave up his life when he got married and had a child. At this point it's not about him any longer, nor is it about his wife, but it's about his daughter and raising her to be the best human being possible. He should stand up for his daughter, make the necessary sacrifices to ensure she is cared for, and try and make the best of it. Giving it all up because you have had a "row" in regards to how the child should be raised is a very selfish and short minded decision.

He made his bed, now I am afraid he must lay in it. He can demand moving out from the in-laws residence, but keeping the family in tact is important.

I hate to say it, but the OP sounds a bit immature regardless of his age, late 40's. He walked out on his daughter & wife, and hasn't made contact to try and make things right? Its time to march back in with an apology and work hard at putting yourself last. Its called being selfless and humble. Something many lack these days I am afraid.

Good luck to the OP, I hope that you are able to mend your relationship and do what is right for your daughter. I am sure she is precious, so treat her as such. Good luck!

    I appreciate this thread.

I was planning to use Transferwise after reading so many recommendations on TVF.

However, after looking at the myriad of non-stop negative reviews on several sites mentioned in the thread, I will not.

One of the negative reviews stated "Transferwise is great if there are no problems.

If there is a problem, the customer is screwed."

After reading many complaints, this seems to sum it up perfectly.

Someone in this thread stated that Trustpilot.com has it rated 5 stars out of 5, unlike the other review sites.

Trustpilot is actually the nail in the coffin as far as me deciding that Transferwise is to be avoided -

Look closer at all of the glowing 5 star reviews.

    https://www.trustpilot.com/review/transferwise.com?page=1

They are all 1 - 2 sentences, many of them every day - MUCH too many, from posters whose median number of posts on the site are ONE.

So there are either scads of people who had such an ecstatic experience transferring funds on Transferwise that they are rushing  to Trustpilot and taking the time to register for the first time so they can write 6 or 8 words of praise.

Or - there is a Transferwise employee spending an hour a day churning these out. (And/or a bonus/credit of some kind is being offered secretly by Transferwise for people to "show us some love on Trustpilot.com").

It is obvious to me, and it should be to you, which is the case.

The fact that Transferwise feels this is necessary is not a good sign.

I do believe that the odds favor a good experience. But the savings are not worth it to me if I become one of the many casualties.

(My Certainty Equivalent is pretty low these days - avoiding headaches is important to me).

Trustpilot is filled with "scads" of reviews from users that suffer from a severe case of PEBCAK.

This segment of end-users should always proceed with caution. ????

Follow Transferwise's precise instructions and no issues will arise, period. The platform is intuitive and easy to use. I have experienced at times that they are slow to answer phones, but as with life one must be patient. Bottom-line, your monies will never just disappear into the Transferwise abyss.

  6. The problem is your bank and not Transferwise. USAA is appalling on so many levels, so its not very surprising that they will do all they can to ensure your monies remain with USAA including making false claims about Transferwise. They have 4M subscribers and transfer about $8B per month. If any fraud was taking place they would have been shut down eons ago. Change banks, USAA does ZERO for vets like ourselves. I learned quick and ran from USAA years ago.

Your local credit unions are always the best choice!

The advantage of Wordpress is that you really dont need any help for a simple site. Just spend an hour or two looking at examples of free Wordpress templates, then select one you like.

There are more websites explaining how to use Wordpress than you can shake a stick at.

And...if you need someone to assist with building a Wordpress website, you can hire someone on Upwork.com for "small money". Basic shared economy hosting should cost you around 500 Baht per month.
