  1. Just a quick update: I finally got in touch with someone at the Thai embassy who checked on this for me. She told me that the reason it was denied is because of the long-term accommodation letter signed by my Thai friend. I need a hotel reservation.

I'm trying to figure out how to resubmit the visa application now as the form can't be completed twice with the same name/birthday combination.

That was what the embassy was using for the certificate of entry application before the 1st of this month.

They are using the one I posted a link for before.

The page shows that link now. https://thaiembdc.org/2020/12/10/stv/

No, I think you are mistaken. This is for applying for the STV Visa, not the COE. On the page https://thaiembdc.org/2020/12/10/stv/ Step 1 says this and links to the cognitoforms page:

    1. If the applicant does not have a valid visa or re-entry permit, the applicant must request a visa, at least 15 working days before the intended date of travel, by filling in the information and upload all required documents online here [https://www.cognitoforms.com/RoyalThaiEmbassy1/VisaOnlineApplication]

Possibly missing something and they sent you a generic response?

Was this only after the online application or after you mailed your passport to the embassy?

I applied for STV in America and they accepted me for the online application then i was asked to mail my passport and documents to the embassy in washington,DC. Currently waiting to get it back.

This could be it. Do you mind telling me what insurance you used? And what you used as proof of accommodation? Thank you!

Yes, I provided all the required documents although my proof of accommodation was a signed letter from a Thai friend. I'm not sure if this is the reason but it seems like they would have specified what needs to be changed in order to get the visa, right?

I assume you applied for a certificate of entry since you cannot apply for a visa online.

Is this the site you used. https://coethailand.mfa.go.th/

What did you select on the drop down menu.

I applied for the visa using this link found at the STV page quoted above: https://www.cognitoforms.com/RoyalThaiEmbassy1/VisaOnlineApplication

Thank you guys for your feedback!

  5. Has anyone been successful in getting the STV visa from the US? I applied over the weekend and they sent an email today saying that my application has been disqualified. Here's the email:

"Your application is disqualified under the current rules and regulations. The entry to Thailand is permitted for particular persons in the exempted list. Please check the list of exempted persons at https://thaiembdc.org/visas/"

Are tourists no longer allowed? Or did I just make a mistake in my application?

  6. I was working in Bangkok for a while but I have recently moved away. I have some money tied up in my Bangkok Bank account. Before leaving Thailand a few months ago, I filled out the form to set up an international wire link to my American bank account. The woman at the bank said I would receive an email confirming that the account was linked but I have not received anything. What's the best (and cheapest) way to get my money out of the account from the US? I think I'd lose a lot in fees by withdrawing from ATMs here because of the daily limits.
