From this photo, these are not "Zebra crossings" as we know in the UK. These are traffic light crossings. There are no traffic lights at Zebra crossings so it's up to the driver to be considerate and courteous to pedestrians and allow them to cross (hahahaha... hahahahahahha... hahahahahahahahahahaha...)

I always stop for pedestrians on the zebra crossings and red traffic light crossings but it's dangerous, I always pull to the left and look in my mirrors because very few drivers stop.
Makes me a little anxious, worried if I'm going to get hit from behind
I used to, warily, stop for pedestrians, but no one expects that. The car behind might pass you and hit people crossing or hit you from behind. As we know there's minimum driver's ed and this is just another example.

Awesome, now I can have a drink with the taxi driver while we're waiting in traffic.

I got it, if you're retired, married to a Thai, you have children, you've invested in a home and contribute to your local economy, you get a 10 year visa. Perfect!
Wait, what's that? No, not you. You just continue with your 1 year visa extension. But if you win the lottery we may re-consider your situation. Just be sure to check in every 90 days.

3mB just in case you need 3 heart bypass surgeries in a year. I don't think excessive and unnecessary insurance costs for foreigners are going to help the Thai healthcare industry.

Since we need insurance to cover Covid hospital treatment expenses, estimated as high as $100k, it also makes Thailand healthcare one of the most expensive in the world.

Common sense would see the following...
- Vaccinated arrivals no quarantine
- Pre-flight PCR test requirement
- Arrival PCR test requirement (24 hr home / hotel quarantine until negative result is known)
Only until 70% of the population if vaccinated with an ‘effective’ vaccine (i.e. not Sinpharm / Sinovac, but with Pfizer, Moderna - vaccines of >90% efficacy)
- Non vaccinated individuals (with out a medical certificate that they have a vaccine allergy etc) still quarantine (thats their choice).
What is that, "common sense"?

That's right, come to Thailand and invest. Buy a house, start a family then we'll still deport you at the drop of a hat because you have no status.

Sure, invest in Thailand. Buy a house. Just be prepared if you're refused entry into the country during the next health crisis or coup d'etat.

On second thoughts, stick to paper. The warehouses full of forms, applications, 90 days check-ins etc. that no-one will ever look at again, are far more secure.

Well I hope that doesn't encourage locals to drink more. They may end up driving when they're drunk. Heaven forbid!!!!

This was scientifically achieved by removing the Listerne label from the plastic bottle.

Kudos to whomever is helping, but I'm not going to allow someone who doesn't have a clue of what he or she is doing jab a swab up my nose halfway to my brain.
Well, of course not. They can just do temp checks as early warning. In any case you can stick the swab up your own nose for any of those tests.

There military transcripts.
Forced to.
I'm sure there are some genuine volunteers though.
Not many.
In our town in the NE there are many volunteers working with the local hospitals. They have a central volunteer coordinator and they go around the villages testing people for Covid and checking on their well being, bringing them to the hospital if needed. Many foreigners don't know about this.

I’ll save you the trouble, as you are posting fake news. Vaccination reduces the chances of being infected. The new news from the USA is that, in the remote chance that you are vaccinated and infected, then you may be just as infectious as anyone else who is infected.
Yes. I think that's always been the case. No Covid vaccine rates as 100% effective. So masks and social distancing can help to prevent the spread from an infectious person. (That's why hospital staff have been wearing masks for the past 100 years, it's not new news). And unfortunately if unvaccinated and hospitalized a person will probably be getting stronger and harsher drugs and treatment to try and save their life.

I came to UK in April from Thailand. Today Thailand is amber. From an amber country you will need to self-isolate at your destination for 10 days. That's a little different to coming from a red country where you will need a govt hotel for quarantine. UK updates country colours every week so something can change between booking and flying. Not necessarily easy travelling in Covid times. My self isolation was in a hotel and location that I chose. Best to fly direct to avoid touching down in a red country, which will seem to reclassify you as coming from red country. I ordered tests for day 2 and 8. They have an early release program where you can optionally pay for a 3rd test out after 5 days. Then you test on day 2, 5 and 8. I tested out after 5 days which effectively turned my self-isolation into 9 days. Why? Tests are sent by mail/post. No one works on the weekend. So try to time your Day 5 test out so it falls mid-week otherwise you'll have "dead" time waiting over the weekend. Covid testing companies are self accredited. Meaning they fill in a form and say they can do the test and then are added to the govt list. There's no oversight, so some are sketchy/unreliable. Personally I used Screen4 and Prenetics. Both were good. Mailed me the tests and results timely (on the days they were working!) After I finished no one cared that I had finished self-isolation, no check from anyone. Although govt do claim to check people who submitted the travel locater form.

Another 2.5 million vaccines donated.... At this rate Thailand won't have to purchase there own, and the money can go into the trough for all to share....
Except they do need 100 million, or more, doses

...and if you spend $2mill you won't have to do the 90 day check-in.

"The mutations (of the virus) were something that could not be predicted"
Unfortunately, many people will believe that. Virus mutations have been expected and monitored around the world by other countries for months. With approx 50 mill adults requiring 2 doses they need to get on with ordering and administering the full requirement of 100 mill doses. Who knows what the future holds with this stunted scientific thinking and lack of awareness.

But it doesn't include a Covid vaccination.

So basically wasting all of these AZ vaccines on boosters because the sinovac govt bought turned out to be useless.
Boosters OK for health care workers, but with barely 10% of the population vaccinated, Thailand needs to get a plan in gear to vaccinate everyone else.

New Elite Card allows holders to work in Thailand – for 32 million baht

Yea crazy, but it's not actually a direct fee, it's an "investment". Doesn't that mean you can start your own limited company and invest in yourself??
According to information released on Thursday, the 32 million baht investment can be made in three ways, including in real estate, investment in a limited or public limited company or as an investment in the stock market, which can include via an investment agency approved by the Securities and Exchange Commission.
