I think it's best to look through neighbors and friends. Reaching for people out there on internet dating site or anything related to it is only mmm..hard to say lucky all time.

Just take a look at any daytime soap on the TV here. They're the brown, flatnosed simpletons that get a boingboingboing sound every time they open their mouth. On the opposite pole is a powdery white Thai-Chinese Hi-So from BKK with a massively bitchy attitude, she gets to be the star.

It's quite obvious who owns the media here. Some farangs seem to take their cues from there as well.

This is quite intersting thread. Learning english isn't that difficult but not too easy, i must say. If one is really interested in the laguague, they would put much effort in learning so. And living in Pattaya, i do believe that there're lots of foreigners who stop by to buy things out there and if family mart girls want to impress the client with that, they would try to learn more words and sentences in order to communicate with clients more than ever. That's my assumption.

Anyway, for the girl from Isaarn and she's 20yrs who could speak decent english, i think you'd better take it slow and see the progress. You never know. And it's quite..strange...about asking money via Western Union?? I don't think we send money to one another via Western Union while we are living in Thailand...

There are lots of forum members with Thai wives. It would be interesting to hear their reasons why farangs are often disliked.

Undoubtedly, the first reason will be the rude tourists that behave badly - but what are the other reasons?

As I said before, some of them smell.

The other reason is that sometimes they are arrogant:) Sometimes "farang" think they are above or better than us and also treat us bad or even look down on us,Thais. But actually, they are not better than us at some points. I am not saying all farangs are same but it does happen here and there nowadays. Thai people are quite similar too i admit. That's why there're words "like" and "dislike." There's word saying which i can't remember from where but yeah there's word saying " you are nobody there but somebody here" It could apply to attitudes of both sides, farangs and thais.

Yes i am. Understand the points. Thats why its good to hear. I believe that people probably said bad things about thai girls based on their experiences. Cant complain as there are always good and bad ppl out there.

I believe that you can always find friends here in thailand but just need time to adjust or justify urself though u could get along with one. Same perception or similar attitude. Being as thai girl, i think its difficult to have western girl to be truly close friend due to the fact that we have different background. Nonetheless, its better to keep some privacy for ueself when it comes to the term of friendship because sometimes it happens that good friends can turn out to be real nasty one. I meant in general nth in particular.
