Interesting that you get only 2 entries across a land border but unspecified number of entries by air. After doing your 2 land border crossings can you then fly in for your unspecified number of entries. If you have used up all your air entries can you then do 2 border crossings ? I'm finding it difficult to understand the rational in all this, it's like playing a game where some of the rules are withheld.

Thanks to all for the comments and insights, it would certainly help if limits were clearly stated. I wonder whether anyone has information as to immigrations view of those arriving by air (unspecified number of entries) where a person has additionally made 2 permitted border crossings in the same calendar year.

Still unable to find anything written on this by immigration although land crossings are fixed at twice per annum. Following a recent two week stay in Thailand I was questioned by passport control as to why I did not have a visa and this was when I was leaving Thailand at Don Muang. I want to visit Thailand a few times each year for less than 30 days each time and would like to know the exact rules for doing so. I am a UK passport holder living in Cambodia.

Thanks to all for the replies.
I am going to Thailand, by air, at the end of this week for a couple of weeks so interesting to see what happens upon arrival at passport control.
I will report my experiences when I get back home to my apartment in Cambodia.

Does anyone have very recent experience in getting a SETV in Vientiane including documents required and do they ask for evidence of where you intend staying, money to fund your stay and/or an onward ticket to leave Thailand ? Thank you for any advice offered.

Thanks ubonjoe. May I ask whether there are any printed rules issued by immigration to firm up on the frequency and length of stay for each visit. Thanks again

I have lived in Thailand for many years but recently moved to Cambodia. I would like to visit friends in Udon Thani from time to time but I'm uncertain as to the requirements for entering Thailand by air and getting the 30 day stamp. I need to know what is required at passport control at Bangkok airports and how many times per year, for example, would such visits be allowed. My visits to Thailand would be for a week or two each time. Advice appreciated.

I hope not going off topic but I have travelled far and wide and visited dozens of countries around the world including Russia and I can recall only one country where one had to report to immigration/police on a regular basis, apart from Thailand, and that was Sudan. I would useful to hear other peoples experiences on this to be able to make a meaningful comparison.
