  1. Anyone who is worried about rich people carrying a fake Gucci bag or sunglasses in Europe or the Americas, should book an appointment with a psychiatrist. This is a law that Thai police, and police everywhere actually, should just go passive/aggressive and refuse to enforce. I´d much rather see someone in Thailand being able to put food on the table, than some gringo being offended because someone else is walking around with a fake Gucci.
  2. I've never been on a Harley, but experiencing a hair raising commute on a tiny little motor scooter for over an hour each way to the University in Chiang Mai for several months, and nearly crashing more than a few times, I would have done anything for a big fat motorcycle, no matter how loud it was. I can´t believe I actually survived that commute without having a serious accident and waking up in an emergency room.
  3. Obviously I can´t speculate what this fellow was doing in this particular neighborhood, but most of the foreigners in that part of town are `tricks,` using economic power to sexually exploit young females. I´m sure it gets annoying, especially to a little girl who has to live in that environment, and whom I have no doubt has seen more than her share of extremely repulsive foreigners on their worst behavior in that part of town. I know for sure her behavior would have been seriously frowned upon in the Thai boonies where I spent about a year. See, tricks, well, they get treated like tricks. Doesn't matter if it´s Thailand, New York or Timbuktu. When your 18 year old sister, or your friend's sister is getting banged on a daily basis by grossly overweight and supremely unattractive septuagenarians pumped up on too much alcohol and Viagra, and waving around way too much money, you become intimately familiar with the attitude known as contempt.
  4. This woman, who was the victim of a horrible crime, chose to be in a relationship with a man who was released from prison for trying to murder a previous girlfriend, and bears a certain responsibility for what happened to her. If I'd been present and was stabbed while intervening in such an attack, and had I survived, I would have been furious at her once I'd learned the facts. If I'd been present and happened to know this man's history beforehand, I definitely would not have gotten involved, unless I'd happened to be walking around with a firearm in my pocket, and I don't walk around with firearms in my pocket. If it was a kid being stabbed, I'd have gotten involved, and probably gotten killed, but I wouldn't risk my life for a 32 year old adult in a horrible and volatile situation of her own making.
