Interesting, thanks. Did the khet tell you this?
Did you get moved to the blue book and get the ID the same day?
I can confirm that you would need to visit the Khet where your registered in the yellow book and then transfer to the blue book of that khet once your thai, after thats done you can move yourself to any other district without any issues.

As I live outside Bangkok, I might move the house book to my hometown.
Did you have to visit the khet to make an appointment, or just call?
You would have to visit the Khet with all the documents in hand in order to make an appointment. They will make a copy of all the documents on that day.

Congratulations!
So you mean that your name was on the royal Gazette you had to wait 2 weeks to get the papers from SB?
I was able to get the documents from SB within 8 days , as for the Khet they gave me an appointment within 3 days , i guess honestly speaking we live in a country where knowing people can help speed up things if possible which in this case did help a bit???? however i got my ID, updated tabien ban and my passport all with me within 2 and half weeks of having my name in the RG

Just a quick update , Already got my ID in hand, managed to get the documents for SB and the Khet luckily didn't give me too much trouble ???? however this is not the usual case, the papers at SB 99% of the time take 2 weeks to complete and the Khet usually gives appointments around 9-14 days from when you submit your papers to make an ID card.
Good luck to everyone else in process

I travel a lot and in some months I am out of the country more than once a week. Mostly one- to three-day trips to neighbouring countries. I understand that once my name is announced in the RG, I am a Thai and can only use Thai ID and passport, but it will take a while until I get those documents. If I use my original passport in the meantime, does that count as a violation of the rules, and the Thai citizenship will be cancelled again?
Shouldn't be a probably, even if somebody went by the book and renounced their previous citizenship, they would need to do that once they got the ID card and passport in hand, i knew somebody who had their American Visa on their previous passport and even after they became Thai they didn't make a Thai passport right away and traveled to the US using his old passport for atleast 2-3 months.

Wondering if i still have to be on guard about the TM 30 ???? technically i am Thai after my name was printed in the RG, also read some folks before me didn't bother doing their reporting after their names were printed, however just curious that if the Immigration officers decided to pay me a visit this week they would be going back with empty pockets or not lol

Well there goes my plan on joining the army or becoming PM one day ???? i guess im just gonna have to stick with being an average citizen , jokes apart though i understand how they might not be ok with letting a naturalized Thai run for office or join the armed forces, but for luk kruengs its extremely odd to hear that they are not allowed to either.

May I ask how many months elapsed between your paperwork being sent to MOI and your actual interview, and how many months after your MOI interview until your oath? I'm still waiting for my MOI interview, but am about a year behind you in the process.
Thanks, for my case the initial SB and NIA process was very fast, the MOI took about 1 year to get an interview date, after the MOI interview it took another 10 months to get to the Oath and then it took around 3 months to get published in the RG in total time 2 years and 6 months approximately so far.

Well hopefully it stays that way ???? but you never know with these things , they're not is the same order or systematic most of the time. Even with the RG its possible it can drag till even next year

any chance you could provide some details of the interview process?
Thanks
Thanks !
Well the interview process was pretty straight forward, they held the interviews at a Provincial district building in the suburbs, there were around 25 people or so in que, most of the cases were Thai husbands with Foreign wives or Thai wives with foreign husbands, i was told that these cases are more simple and the interviews are much more easier, the ones that are through residence etc are a bit more difficult and sometimes require them to sing the national anthem etc, however don't quote me on this, just the information i got from the staff around there.
The interview was conducted by around 20 or so people , Police high ups, government officials etc, they asked me a series of around 15 questions or so, mostly related to my life in Thailand, work, family etc.. pretty straight forward process, took around 15 minutes.
Thats pretty much it, once i walked out they told me they would get back to me within 6 months or so but no further information was provided.
Cheers !

Hey Everyone,
Its my first time on here and im glad i found this forum.
Im in the process of getting my Thai citizenship, my journey started last year in April, had been in Thailand almost 17 years, in my late 30's now, went to University here and also married a Thai citizen and have 2 Children as well.
I applied and passed my interviews etc at SB and NIA last year in early May, my file was sent to MOI around Aug 2017 from what i was told, i got my MOI interview done last week and everything went smoothly.
Just wondering what to expect next, i was told that i will most likely get my citizenship between June to September next year 2019 starting from this point.
Any information would be helpful.
Thanks !!

Story Of My Thai Citizenship Application

An important point to mention would be is after you become a naturalized Thai, the ID number assigned to you will usually start with 8 unlike most other Thai's who were born here , i was told this number is for naturalized people and people who were not born here.
