I can only say, that I am happy with my 2 year old Kawa Boss.
Had a few modifications done to it (incl. a tune-up).
Great, easy town-bike, but can do 140kph on the Sukhumwit.
Don´t need more, as it wpould most likely get me killed very soon.

As stated before,
inform the tax-people of her income from the rental.
That will piss her off for sure.

Apart from all of you leaving the original topic,
did Carradine finish the movie he was here to do?
Anyone know the name of the movie?

I had a funny accident on the bike a couple of months ago.
In Pattaya on second rd. a motorbike cut me off coming from a side soi.
I just managed to brake hard to avoid a crash.
Of course, I went down, had quite an asphalt-rash.
The driver turned around (against the one-way traffic to see if I lived,
turned around and sped off.
1 minute later, a FPV (foreign police volunteer) came by, while I was still trying to recover,
lying on the road.
He did a bit of questioning the various witnesses (who did nothing to help me BTW).
He then found out (licenceplate number) who the bike in question belonged to.
Oi, oi, it belonged to a policeman!!!!!!
Anyway, the Sawang Boriboon came along, and patched me up (as well as they can do with their limited
means, with bandages, antiseptic fluids etc.).
The FPV then insisted, that I went to the policestation (soi 9) to make a report.
They agreed, that it was in no way my fault, and offered to reembourse bills for medical
care up to 15.000,- THB.
Funnily enough, there was no mention whatsoever, about it being a policeman causing the accident
and fleeing the scene of it.

So, apart from all the talk about Canada,
When will we have a devaluation of the THB.
It´s already drawn on for too long.

I was quite happy with my Siam Commercial bank up until today. As a person who needs cash on a regular basis (most small Thai businessed don't deal in credit cards) I like to take out about 10,000 baht at a time. It saves on going to an ATM machine all the time and it saves on the charges. The more times you visit an ATM the more chance there is of running into the credit card crooks. I get charged $5 every time I use my Canadian ATM card... no matter how much I take out, so the fewer times I have to use it the better.
Today when I tried to take out 10,000 baht at the Siam Commercial bank, the ATM machine says it now has a limit of 2000 baht!!! What's up with that? I can spend 2000 baht in less than an hour if I shop for anything worthwhile. I just paid 2500 baht for a camera battery and memory stick.
I find it irritating that banks seem to set their own rules and you are stuck with their policy. Having a limit of more than 5000 baht was the one thing that kept me happy with Siam Commercial when compared to other banks. Now they are even lower!
Sorry for the vent, but I'm pizzed off!
Sometimes you get a small withdrawal limit, but it is usually because the machine is about to run out of money (has not been topped up).
Witk my SCB, I can normally get 20k a day.

We don´t have the problem around our house.
We have several jugs etc, with water in them.
We allways put a few guppies (or wharever) in them.
They really like eating the larvae, so no big problem.
(free food for the fish)

Forgot to say,

I´m happy to hear that you have the blood you need now.
I know that O-neg is universal, and that is required for many people.
Sorry mate, but my bloodtype is RH AB neg. (about half percent only have this).
Tell me if needed.

The damage has been done though. Today, despite the ending of the siege etc etc, the Australian Government has advised its citizens to "RECONSIDER YOUR NEED TO TRAVEL" to Thailand.
Upto today, the warning was just for Bangkok, but now it's been updated to include the WHOLE COUNTRY!
More mass hotel cancellations coming......
I just read in the Swedish news that not many Swedes have canceled their trip to Thailand over Christmas. Maybe it won't be as bad after all...
Of course the swedes do not cancel their trips out here.
They have prepaid their tickets with no cancellation insurance.

You´re right.
I remember it being Witherspoons.
You usually turn up shortly before you are off. where they check to see
if your paperwork is ok.

From Pattaya:
Last year I did a visa run to Cambo with a company in soi Buachao. They are located just around the corner from
soi Diana, in a big british pub (I forgot the name). They are ok and do late visa runs as well.
Also do smoking/non smoking vans.
Personally, I drive myself.
The easiest is certainly the border crossing at Prom.
It´s located about 20 km´s before the Bang Laem crossing.
It will take you about 2 hours to get there.
The waiting time there is the time you use to fill out the various forms.
No queues or anything, and everyone on both sides of the border
are friendly and helpful, maybe because they are not stressed by too many crossing over
.
Worst queue I ever experienced there, was 2 people (3 mins).
You will, however, have to pay the usual 300 baht for quick re-entry to Thailand.
-
Change the ticket to a couple of days before.
Go to Pattaya, spend the money there, and have a great time.
In 2 days you will have forgotten all about her, just DON´T fall in love.
Remember to change your telephone number.

So,------- we can still use nitroglycerin?
